Story
Hi, my name is Alex, I am a female, I am 17 years old looking for a new home as my current owner passed away. I live in Georgetown, Ontario. I am looking for a new home with a single person or a couple. Unfortunately, I have not been around children. I need medication twice a day for my thyroid. I get my medication with my fancy feast which I love. I like my rubs under the chin, liked to be brushed and I like to rest my paws on your legs. I like to look outside and sleep in the sun.I come with a tree house, litter box, brush and a scratch post for my face I like to rub on.My shots are up to date until 2028.

Story
Luxury Italian fashion comes to EHS!The fashionista in this instance is Gucci, who was surrendered after a paparazzi-like dust up with another cat, which unfortunately resulted in Gucci biting his owner. Moving on from this setback, Gucci is looking for a special forever family to be the recipient of his high-end, feline love.ABOUT GUCCI- In foster- Gucci is a gentle and calm boy as long as his boundaries are respected. - Sweet and affectionate, he loves to rub against his fosters’ legs to encourage them to give him more pets and attention.- He is a vocal boy who enjoys telling you how much he appreciates your affection. It’s his way of being petted on demand! Ever the diva though, he prefers to be petted on the carpet or the kitchen floor. - While he rarely says no to a belly rub, he’s not a cuddle bug and he tolerates being picked up, but doesn’t seem to enjoy it. - It’s important to note that Gucci has a history of reactive behaviour, which can be difficult to predict. When he’s upset, overstimulated, or not getting his way, gentle Gucci becomes grumpy Gucci, and he may bite or nip. While he takes medication to ease his feline feistiness, his forever family will need to watch his moods.- His foster family has found that Gucci thrives when they are patient with him and give him his space.- Gucci is very food motivated and very smart. His foster mom has put these traits to good use to bond with Gucci using clicker training and treats. Gucci is a quick study and loves to learn new tricks. - He enjoys playing, especially with the wand side of a feather toy or a belt, but only in short bursts. He tends to lose interest quickly.- Gucci is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and is up to date on core vaccinations.GUCCI’S IDEAL HOME- Gucci must be the only cat in the home. - He loves people but would do best in a quiet home without young children.- Gucci’s forever family should have previous experience with cats and be able to read cat body language.- Gucci takes daily oral medication for anxiety and a calming powder mixed with his food.- EHS will offer a short foster-to-adopt period before finalizing the adoption to assist Gucci with successfully transitioning into a forever home. During this time, our skilled volunteers will offer support to the potential adopters as they get to know Gucci and help ensure everyone settles in comfortably

Story
Klaus is coming to town!Fittingly, Klaus arrived at EHS from a municipal animal shelter during the Christmas season. Similar to his namesake, Santa, Klaus is described as having a big, bold personality and is ready to settle down in a place to call home.ABOUT KLAUS- In foster- Having once lived as a stray on the streets, Klaus is cautious when it comes to new people and environments. A big fan of the slow approach, he appreciates those who take the time to get to know him through gentle communication and soft blinks. - Klaus takes quite a bit of time to acclimate to new people and environments. He might spend his days hiding in a dark or enclosed space, but don’t be surprised to learn he has been wandering the house at night: exploring, playing with toys, and enjoying the dark. Much like his namesake, he prefers working the night shift!- He is a skittish cat who has had minimal experience with humans, so it will take time, patience, and plenty of effort to earn his trust. If he feels unsafe, he will hiss and swat.- After a while, Klaus may open himself up to licking a bit Churu tube treat off the tip of a back-scratcher; he loves a good treat but won’t let you close right away. - Some skittish cats may remain reserved, while others may express their trust and affection in a variety of ways. - This sensitive fellow doesn’t appreciate loud noises, such as the vacuum, so he’ll likely make himself scarce when it’s time for chores!- Klaus has FIV, which is a virus that weakens the immune system of a cat but is not transmissible to humans or other species.- A cat with FIV may be overlooked, but with routine vet care and a loving home, cats who have FIV can live a long, healthy life. - Klaus is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and is up to date on core vaccinations.KLAUS’ IDEAL HOME- Klaus prefers to be the only cat in the household.- Klaus does not require medication but vet checkups twice a year are recommended.- Cats who have FIV can live just as long as other cats if they are properly cared for with a good diet, an indoor home, and a loving family. - A skittish cat, like Klaus, will benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children.- Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Klaus settl
