Story
*** Nori is in a foster home. ***Nori #19551: solid black, medium hair, spayed female, born approx. 7/9/24Cats: not entirely known, good soloDogs: unknownChildren: past toddler BACKGROUND: When a pregnant kitty found her way to the home of a Good Samaritan, she was welcomed in and soon gave birth to seven kittens. Nori’s benefactor reached out to The Rescue House to ask if we could help the large family find loving forever homes. PERSONALITY: Nori is a very friendly and sweet kitty who has been a wonderful mother. She adores pets and will lie down near you, though with true cat whimsy she is often just a teensy bit out of reach in order to make you work for her love! Nori purrs easily, enjoys soft scritches near the base of her tail, and can’t get enough back and tummy rubs. She is an extremely calm cat, even though still pretty much a kitten herself, and she loves your company. At times she will play with some small toys or teach her kittens how to run, chase, and wrestle, but for the most part she observes and enjoys a restful approach to life.COMPATIBILITY: Nori has been in mom-mode since we’ve known her, and mother cats are often protective of their kittens and less fond of other cats during that time. She is good with her kittens but hisses at the resident cat in her foster home. We don’t know for sure how she will feel as she shifts gears, nor do we know her thoughts on dogs. She would likely do better with children who are about five and up, past the erratic movements of toddlerhood and willing to be calm and gentle with her.As sweet-natured as she is beautiful, Nori is a true gem of a kitty companion!

Story
*** Sophie is in a foster home. ***Sophie #19603: orange tabby & white, medium hair, spayed female, born approx. 2/20/24Cats: likely okayDogs: unknownChildren: patient tweens+ BACKGROUND: Sophie was heavily pregnant and in labor when she was found near a homeless shelter; an independent rescuer who also volunteers there was contacted and went to get the newly-formed family. They moved into Rescue House foster care so that Sophie could raise her babies in love and safety. Now that Sophie has finished her motherly duties, she is hoping to find a special person to love her forever!PERSONALITY: Sweet Sophie is a docile and quiet-natured kitty who appreciates people who will let her adjust at her own pace while encouraging her along the way. (Churu-type lickable treats are a good way to get introduced! She’s crazy for them.) She loves to be petted and brushed and is very friendly once you have gained her trust; she’ll also start playing, though she is not rambunctious about it. Sophie’s foster describes her as chill and sweet. If you are willing to put in the time, love, and patience, you’ll be rewarded with a happy purring companion with a beautiful and loving personality.COMPATIBILITY: Sophie has only been around her kittens while in foster care, but she shows no signs of pushing them away… she even still lets them nurse. Given that, we think she would most likely be all right living with other mellow-natured cats. Dogs are unknown though best likelihood is a calm one who isn’t bouncy. Young or boisterous children in a bustling home would not be a good fit; calm tweens+ or adults who understand her need for slow introductions and a quiet environment would suit her best.Sophie’s love is such a sweet reward. Will you take this darling girl under your wing and give her the chance to blossom into her best self?

*** Elise, Emmy, Erin & Echo are in a foster home. ***Elise #19706: black/white tuxedo, medium hair, spayed female, born approx. 3/22/25Emmy #19707: black/white tuxedo, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 3/22/25Erin #19708: gray/white tabby, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 3/22/25Echo #19709: brown/gray/white tabby, short hair, neutered male, born approx. 3/22/25Cats: must have playmate, siblings best!Dogs: likely okayChildren: past toddler ageBACKGROUND: A senior lady was in a park one day when she found four kittens in a box who were about four weeks old. She took them home and reached out for help; a few days later, networking led them into Rescue House foster care where they have grown up safe and loved!PERSONALITY: Enthusiastic to see people and always excited for fun times, the “E” kittens are a happy-natured and lovable group who will swarm you when you enter the room: get ready to be climbed and have kittens on your shoulders playing with your hair! Small loose toys like springs and rattly mice are batted everywhere (and under everything), pop-up tents are ripe for wrestling, tunnels are for racing (and popping out to bop an unsuspecting sibling), and wands are for leaping! As their energy is expended, they become purring little love bugs who like to nestle up all cozy in your lap.COMPATIBILITY: The quartet always have a buddy nearby, have never been alone, and each must have a welcoming feline playmate—we highly recommend sibling pairs! They have had limited exposure to a senior Chihuahua, and if given a proper introduction should be able to adapt to cat-friendly dogs. They have not met any children, though respectful kids around five and older who can gently handle them would likely work out fine.Who will bring their charm to your home?

*** Maya & Sissy are in our PetSmart Aero adoption center ***Maya #19602: black/orange/white calico, medium hair, spayed female, born approx. 9/1/18 Sissy #19603: black/orange/white calico, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 7/1/20 Cats: **BONDED PAIR**, no othersDogs: noChildren: gentle older kids BACKGROUND: When Maya and Sissy’s guardian unexpectedly passed away, relatives tried to take them in but their resident animals were aggressive toward the girls. They reached out to The Rescue House to ask if we could help this mother-daughter pair find a new loving home.PERSONALITY: Maya and Sissy make a striking calico combo with personalities as vibrant as their tricolor coats!---Maya is a talkative mama who is quick to voice her opinions and charm you with her sweet chirps. She enjoys being around people and seeks your attention while not being overly needy. Give her a little petting sessions and she’s happy. Maya likes being in the mix of household life and when she’s feeling playful she’ll chase little balls around to play hallway soccer.---Sissy is a sensitive sweetheart who is more reserved by nature. She prefers quiet observation to bustling activity and can often be found lounging high on a cat tree, peacefully bird-watching and enjoying the tranquil moments. Sissy can take a little while to warm up to new people and places, yet once she does she blossoms into a gentle and loving companion.---Sissy looks to her mother for reassurance and comfort and it is so touching to watch their clearly bonded interactions. Maya and Sissy MUST be adopted together.COMPATIBILITY: Maya and Sissy need a home without other cats or dogs. They’d do best in a calm environment with adults or gentle older respectful children who can give them space to settle in and be themselves. In that setting, these girls flourish! Are you ready to welcome to two uniquely wonderful calico queens into your life? Maya and Sissy are ready to rule your heart.

Story
Domestic Medium Hairs – Black & Calico Females 9 weeks 2 pounds WE ARE CURRENTLY IN A FOSTER HOME. WE ARE A BONDED PAIR AND MUST BE ADOPTED TOGETHER. Rancho Coastal adopts out kittens starting at 8 weeks of age. Many of them have been in foster homes for weeks and were even bottle-fed. If you are thinking about bringing home kittens, be sure to consider your time away from home and the ages of your family members. Kittens between the ages of 8-11 weeks old need more attention and care than older kittens. They need continued training and play time, and are generally better with older children. Kittens that are 4 months and older make better companions for young children and are generally more gentle during play. Rancho Coastal encourages adopting kittens in pairs, which is why we have created our “Two Purr One” Program: if you choose to adopt a pair of kittens, the second kitten has a waived adoption fee. Behaviorists recommend pairs because kittens benefit from the companionship and because they are more entertained, they do less damage around your home. If interested in meeting Unagi & Usagi, an adoption survey and instructions can be found on our website. Adoption Hours: Wednesday-Monday; 11 AM to 4 PM Address: 389 Requeza Street, Encinitas, CA 92024
