Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If you're working for home or just playing it safe by practicing social distancing, now is a perfect time to bring a new furry family member into the fold. Email us any questions about any cats we have and we will be happy to provide any additional information you may need. If you are approved for adoption, we are now doing curbside adoptions in order to minimize contact. Anchovy is about a year old as of May 2025. His situation is a bit complicated, and he's spent most of his life in rescue. He was trapped as an older kitten with the intent of socializing for adoption. Unfortunately, his foster was unable to spend the time required to work with him, so he either needed to go back outside or be moved to a different foster. Cold weather was already here, so the decision was made to move him to a different foster. He's still quite fearful, but is very motivated by food. He leans in for pets, purrs, and is generally relaxed when he's eating. He may never become a lap cat. He may have to go live in a barn. At this point, we aren't sure, but he's spent enough time here. If you are either an incredible person who wants to give this boy a home despite his fear, or if you have a very safe ship, barn, etc, please apply here! safehousepets.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.All of our cats have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, microchipped, and tested for FIV/FeLV. Our adoption fee structure is as follows:   $75 - Kittens/Young (Up to 1 year) $50 - Adult (1 Year +) $25 - Senior (7 Years +) $0 - FIV + There is an additional $25 fee for cats considered to be an "Exotic" (Siamese, Persian, etc...) If you are a senior (65 years or older) you can adopt any of our senior cats (7 years or older) for only $10! Please mention this special when applying. We also have a kitten special - adopt 2 available kittens (1 year & under) for $125 While we try to keep our animal listings up-to-date online, sometimes the age range may be labelled incorrectly. Please don't hesitate to contact us for the most up-to-date information on a particular cat.  Our cats are shown by appointment - we are a foster based rescue and so we don't have a location with set hours. If you are interested in adopting or would like to meet our cats, please fill out our adoption application online at www.safehousepets.org/info/adoption and a volunteer will contact you promptly.  July 5, 2025, 12:40 pm

Story
Perciatelli is a 3-5 year old male DLH cat (GORGEOUS BOY!) who came to us due to unfortunate circumstances after his owner was hospitalized and it was discovered that there was 77 cats in the home in really bad conditions. Perci is now doing well, and all he needs is his forever home. He is a bit shy of people, but warms up with time (and treats). He is a sucker for wet food and treats. His adoption fee is FREE due to length of stay. He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and FELV/FIV negative. Please stop by the shelter to meet and adopt him, or call or email with questions: 630-553-9256 or animalcontrol@Kendallcountyil.gov

Story
Meet Dunkin, our gorgeous and vocal fuzzy friend! Dunkin was abandoned in Shorewood around the fourth of July and luckily trapped before the fireworks and extreme heat started. He's a very chatty boy who is very food motivated. He loves snacks and food. He is quite nervous with new people and will need time to warm up. But he leans into pets and cheek rubs, happily once he's comfortable. He seems more nervous with pets on his back. He has a gorgeous, sleek black coat. Dunkin has been doing well with the other cats and is often rubbing up against them. He has also met a few kittens and seemed to do well.

Story
Meet Elmer, a handsome, fuzzy gentleman ready for a forever home! He came to us after a very caring human spotted him amongst some ferals looking for food. He was a friendly guy and not meant to be out there. Elmer has been a delightful addition to our cat room so far. He is sweet, always leaning into cheek rubs and rolling around for pets. He loves comfy beds too! Elmer doesn't seem to mind the other cats around so far either. He was quite nervous at first, but quickly warmed up to show his lovely, silly self!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Nova is an adorable little black kitten, born approx Oct 2024.  She came into her foster home terrified of people.  She has come a very long way.  She loves to play with her toys and climb up her cat tree.  She lives to be pet but is still a bit timid and is shy of new people.  With more love she will understand that nobody is going to hurt her.  She would flourish in a house with another confident, friendly cat or kitten to help show her how great it is to be loved by people.  She might be okay with a calm, disinterested dog and older kids, but would do best in a quiet house as she does get nervous of loud noises.  She is fixed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is sponsored for our Home for the Holidays promotion To adopt Nova, fill out an application at www.kakf.org/formsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 31, 2025, 10:50 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lira is a young (DOB about Sept 2024) medium haired black kitty.  She is a very sweet young girl who is very affectionate and loves snuggles.  She loves to play with other cats and is bonded to her sister, Lefty, so they need to be adopted as a pair.  She is not bothered at all by the dogs in her foster home and will most likely play well with kids also.  She is fearless and will make herself at home anywhere.  She also makes the cutest chirps when she is wandering around the house.  She is fixed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.   Their adoption fee is sponsored for our Home for the Holidays promotion To adopt Lira and Lefty, fill out an application at www.kakf.org/formsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 31, 2025, 10:50 am
