Story
Maxine is a gorgeous and petite, 8.5-year-old, medium-haired, brown tabby who arrived at HART in the summer of 2023. Her beautiful coat has such unique markings, with splashes of gold interspersed between the stripes in her coat. Yeah, Maxine has a reputation for being something of a diva, and she isn't afraid to express a bit of her 'tude with you. Although she often prefers to stay in the safe space of her favorite comfy bed, she also enjoys playtime with her favorite toy, the catnip mouse. Maxine adores attention from visitors and will rub against you and roll over when you pet her--however, she might then reach out and whack you! Because of her tendency to act out and be unpredictable, Maxine will require a calm home without other animals or children, and with cat-savvy adults who have experience living with and caring for cats with strong personalities. Our Adoption Team will review her specific needs with you prior to adoption. We know this special girl will do great in a home where she feels truly comfortable, and with people who appreciate her sassy kitty self! Story
Speck is a beautiful, volunteer-favorite, 13-year-old, long-haired, tabby girl with bright green eyes. Originally surrendered to HART in the Fall of 2021, Speck was adopted shortly thereafter but was then returned to us, at no fault of her own, because her household was not a good fit for her. She enjoys spending time with people, and while she has a somewhat reserved, subtle personality, she likes gentle attention and receiving scratches and pets. She is looking for a calm, quiet home without young children or dogs - but would do ok with cats that respect her space, and will be happy as your low-key feline buddy. Speck has significant environmental and flea allergies which are well-managed by feeding her a special, non-prescription, limited-ingredient diet (duck is the primary ingredient), giving her daily medication and supplements, and ensuring she is not exposed to fleas (we recommend using flea preventative year round). Speck also is hyper-thyroid. She takes medication twice per day for this, in a little pill wrap or pill pocket. Our Adoption Team will review her specific health needs with you before adoption. We will require that her adopters have a well-established relationship with a trusted veterinarian and that they be experienced cat guardians. We would love for Speck to find a home of her very own for her golden years. Please submit an adoption application and come in to meet this special kitty in Room 1.Go to our website, www.hartofme.org, to submit your online application today!***FKA = Formerly Known As

Story
Serafina is a super gorgeous, long-haired girl. Her hair is truly amazing and will definitely need very regular brushing! She is sweet and friendly. Serafina is fairly confident, but knows which kitty to keep a friendly distance from! She's a big girl that loves attention and will give you lots of love, along with her adoptive son! Our medical team has her on medications to help her with shelter life. We feel she will do best in an experience home. We will require that her adopter has an established veterinarian relationshipGo to our website, www.hartofme.org, to submit your online application today!***FKA = Formerly Known As

Story
ell hello, my name is Mrs. Biggs and I am an 8-year-old elegant lady.  I have a little white mane around my neck that makes it look like I have a fur scarf on.  I have the most stunning golden eyes and very alluring mix of grey, white and beige fur.  I was rescued from a hoarding situation with 21 dogs and 5 other cats so I can get a little irritable with other animals but I love humans.  I love to cuddle up to my foster mom, lay on her chest and make biscuits on her.  I also love all her friends and guests.  I will rub my head against your chin and show you all the love.  I'm always saying 'hi' to the neighbors and they love me!  I'm missing some teeth on my right side due to negligence in the past.  It will be ideal to have dental treats and chicken-flavored enzymatic toothpaste brushes once in a while to keep my left teeth healthy.  That way, I can eat dry food for a long, long time!  Don't be fooled by my age because I'm still energetic.  I love laser pointers and I will run, vroom, fast as a car to chase the laser pointer.  I also love catnip and I will roll around in it for longer than my fellow kitties do.  Due to my past of having to compete for food, I can be very greedy.  I will explore your trash can, lurk on your dining table, eat your food and I will get into other cats' foods and declare them all mine.  When I see food, I run knocking off everything in my path!  I've been hungry before, I don't want it to happen again :'(  Please don't hold my past against me, the longer I feel safer about my food security, the better I will get.  Due to my past environment, I had rhinosinusitis when I came to my current foster home but I'm getting better everyday.  I'm a very affectionate and loving cat and I will be your sweet companion. I am totally vetted and ready for my forever home.  If you think I will be the purrfect addition to your family please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Kitty Keanu is in Tennessee and can be transported to the northeast upon adoption.)  February 22, 2024, 6:08 pm

Story
Hi my name is Crystal .  I am a very sweet little kitty.  My siblings and I were born outside and we had horrible living conditions.  We had a very rough start to our short little lives and we faced an uncertain future.  We were starving and living in pile of trash steel by the train tracks. Then  along comes Miss Dawn with this wire thing with yummy food in it.  One by one we were rescued.  She would not stop until she had all of us.  We are living the good life now getting full bellies while we wait on our forever home. We are all gray and have beautiful soft fur.  We are tiny but mighty.  Two of us are boys, Einstein and Earl, and 3 are girls Crystal, Graycie, and Minnie Pearl. Friskie is what we are because we love to play. Some of our favorite toys are toy mice and balls, cat tunnels, wand toys, and don't forget the laser pointer. We love all the kitty treats, brushing, and catnip our foster gives us. We really are love bugs. You know 2 kittens truly are better than 1!!  We really want to be adopted with one of our siblings. We are curious and playful and quickly warm up with food, play and lots of pets and love.  Our personalities are coming out and we all get our motors purring for pets and love.  We have our first vet appointment on 10/20 and will be ready for our forever homes in a few weeks.  A home for the holidays would be so amazing for each of us.  Hopefully that is with you.  To be considered for our forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (We are currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)    February 22, 2024, 6:08 pm
