Story
Xena was a rescue we got at 8 weeks old, 5 years ago. When we went to pick her up, the people had her stuffed in a bag in a closet. We have done everything we can to give her the best life she could have, but I think she's too sensitive for our environment. Usually, shes very sweet and playful. She has things that trigger her and when that happens, it can take a few days for her to calm down. During these fits, she'll be aggressive towards anyone near her. Sometimes it's random, but two things we know that trigger her are being stepped/tripped on (she likes to be under your feet so it happens sometimes), seeing/smelling/hearing unfamiliar cats (smelling is a big thing, coming home after visiting family with cats has put her on-edge). When we got her, we had a big, lazy dog that she lives with to this day. She has never lashed out at him so she may be ok with calm dogs. We got a kitten 2 years ago to socialize her more and she's fine with him, but will attack him in her fits.

Story
Serafina is a gorgeous, 10-year-old, brown tabby and white kitty who was returned to HART this past Fall when her former family had to relocate and unfortunately could not take her with them. Her beautiful fur is amazingly soft and fluffy, and she definitely needs very regular brushing to stay looking and feeling her best. Serafina is sweet, friendly, and confident, and she loves receiving attention from people. She is what we affectionately call a "spicy" cat, and she will need a calm home without young chlidren, and with experienced, cat savvy adults who will help her acclimate to her new household. She is not a fan of most other cats, and, as you might imagine, living with a bunch of feline roommates is not her idea of a good time. Our Medical Team has placed her on a medication to help her cope with shelter life. We will require that her adopter has an established relationship with a veterinarian. Story
Maxine is a gorgeous and petite, 8.5-year-old, medium-haired, brown tabby who arrived at HART in the summer of 2023. Her beautiful coat has such unique markings, with splashes of gold interspersed between the stripes in her coat. Yeah, Maxine has a reputation for being something of a diva, and she isn't afraid to express a bit of her 'tude with you. Although she often prefers to stay in the safe space of her favorite comfy bed, she also enjoys playtime with her favorite toy, the catnip mouse. Maxine adores attention from visitors and will rub against you and roll over when you pet her--however, she might then reach out and whack you! Because of her tendency to act out and be unpredictable, Maxine will require a calm home without other animals or children, and with cat-savvy adults who have experience living with and caring for cats with strong personalities. Our Adoption Team will review her specific needs with you prior to adoption. We know this special girl will do great in a home where she feels truly comfortable, and with people who appreciate her sassy kitty self! Not good with dogs, Needs special attention, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Speck is a beautiful, volunteer-favorite, 13-year-old, long-haired, tabby girl with bright green eyes. Originally surrendered to HART in the Fall of 2021, Speck was adopted shortly thereafter but was then returned to us, at no fault of her own, because her household was not a good fit for her. She enjoys spending time with people, and while she has a somewhat reserved, subtle personality, she likes gentle attention and receiving scratches and pets. She is looking for a calm, quiet home without young children or dogs - but would do ok with cats that respect her space, and will be happy as your low-key feline buddy. Speck has significant environmental and flea allergies which are well-managed by feeding her a special, non-prescription, limited-ingredient diet (duck is the primary ingredient), giving her daily medication and supplements, and ensuring she is not exposed to fleas (we recommend using flea preventative year round). Speck also is hyper-thyroid. She takes medication twice per day for this, in a little pill wrap or pill pocket. Our Adoption Team will review her specific health needs with you before adoption. We will require that her adopters have a well-established relationship with a trusted veterinarian and that they be experienced cat guardians. We would love for Speck to find a home of her very own for her golden years. Please submit an adoption application and come in to meet this special kitty in Room 1.Go to our website, www.hartofme.org, to submit your online application today!***FKA = Formerly Known As

Story
My name is Walter and I am a truly handsome and confident cat that is 2 years old and looking for a Kingdom to rule as the only animal.  I love people and I love kids but I really don't like to have to power around with other animals at the house.  I can be nice sometimes but sometimes I'll just take a swat and let them know to stay out of my way.  I love to sleep in the bed and cuddle with my humans.  I love to sit on the sofa and pick a good movie to watch.  I love most of all, to have a peaceful environment to live in and to sit in the window and watch the birds, or the cars and people go by most of all.  How about emailing at ccrnewengland@gmail.com and ask Critter Cavalry Rescue all about taking me home.  I want you to consider giving a calm, handsome adult male cat a good home.  I'll make you happy and you'll never regret it. Our vetting is extensive: Spay, rabies, FIV vaccine, FIV tested and negative, fecal and dewormings and a Drontal  and microchipped. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.February 28, 2024, 8:51 am

Story
ell hello, my name is Mrs. Biggs and I am an 8-year-old elegant lady.  I have a little white mane around my neck that makes it look like I have a fur scarf on.  I have the most stunning golden eyes and very alluring mix of grey, white and beige fur.  I was rescued from a hoarding situation with 21 dogs and 5 other cats so I can get a little irritable with other animals but I love humans.  I love to cuddle up to my foster mom, lay on her chest and make biscuits on her.  I also love all her friends and guests.  I will rub my head against your chin and show you all the love.  I'm always saying 'hi' to the neighbors and they love me!  I'm missing some teeth on my right side due to negligence in the past.  It will be ideal to have dental treats and chicken-flavored enzymatic toothpaste brushes once in a while to keep my left teeth healthy.  That way, I can eat dry food for a long, long time!  Don't be fooled by my age because I'm still energetic.  I love laser pointers and I will run, vroom, fast as a car to chase the laser pointer.  I also love catnip and I will roll around in it for longer than my fellow kitties do.  Due to my past of having to compete for food, I can be very greedy.  I will explore your trash can, lurk on your dining table, eat your food and I will get into other cats' foods and declare them all mine.  When I see food, I run knocking off everything in my path!  I've been hungry before, I don't want it to happen again :'(  Please don't hold my past against me, the longer I feel safer about my food security, the better I will get.  Due to my past environment, I had rhinosinusitis when I came to my current foster home but I'm getting better everyday.  I'm a very affectionate and loving cat and I will be your sweet companion. I am totally vetted and ready for my forever home.  If you think I will be the purrfect addition to your family please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Kitty Keanu is in Tennessee and can be transported to the northeast upon adoption.)  February 28, 2024, 8:51 am
