Story
Meet Twilight! This 3-year-old neutered male kitty is searching for a new home after he was returned to the rescue due to a medical condition. It was discovered he has environmental allergies and needed some allergy meds (much like a lot of humans!). He is now thriving in his foster home on allergy meds (Cyclavance 25mg). He does fine with other cats, but high energy dogs stress him out. He would do good in a home that is quiet and would enjoy the company of a kitty!  Twilight loves the companionship of humans after he settles in. He just adores being in the presence of his humans and will follow them from room to room. He can be shy meeting new people, but is loving and playful once he realizes you are good people!  Just because Twilight has allergies, doesn't mean he doesn't deserve an amazing home. For now he is on allergy meds, but it may not be forever, we just don't know yet! He responds well to his meds and takes it with his food. Hopefully he doesn't get overlooked over something he can't help! His adoption fee is $50 and includes his neuter, FIV/FELV testing (negative), microchip, vaccinations, deworming and 3 months of allergy meds.  Please fill out an application on our website so a meet and greet and home check can be arranged. May 22, 2024, 4:42 am

Story
Pepita is patiently waiting for her furrever home. This sweet girl loves to watch the birds from her window. She perks up whenever she had a visitor. Pepita prefers to be an only cat. If you would like to meet Princess Pepita, she is currently waiting at our adoption center. No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the dog. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Story
Burlington was found amongst one of our cat colonies in a busy shopping plaza. What altered us to him was his constant meowing and storytelling. Even though we didn’t know exactly what he was saying we knew he was telling us he didn’t belong there and he wanted to come home with us. So we brought Burlington home to our rescue, and this is when Burlington's story begins…. Burlingtons past is a mystery, but what we’ve concluded is that he approximately 5 years old. He is litter boxed trained and a pretty tidy cat. He obviously has had some rough times. He has some scaring under his fur, which leads us to believe he has been hurt at some point in life. His scars are not visible to the naked eye, but you can feel the tough skin when you pet him. Poor guy! Here’s the most amazing thing about Burlington….despite his rough past, he wants loves and pets and attention. He has been affectionate since the day he came to us, like he has been here his entire life. His meowing has since decreased, but he still loves a good chat. Burlington gets along with other cats. Currently he is living with two other cats that lived in neighboring colonies. (Also up for adoption) We are not sure how he does around dogs, zebras, or antelopes. Burlington needs a family that will appreciate his ability to love and seek attention despite his past experiences. He needs a window where he can lay in the sun and just relax. He is an indoor only cat. Even though he was found outside, that’s not where is belongs. He currently has access to a secured catio, which he loves, but it is not necessary. We are not sure how he does with kids, but his personality leads us to believe he should be kid friendly. Burlington has be health checked, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and snap tested- negative. He will come with medical records, his favorite toys, new toys, new litter box, litter, dry and wet food, and anything else’s he has claimed as his own while on vacation with us. If you are interested in Burlington please fill out the adoption questionnaire and email it back to us. The questionnaire must be filled out before we will even consider your inquiry. We do not respond to the simple button push “is this cat available.” Inquires are responded to in the order received. If we feel your a good match, we will contact you with any further questions and to set up a meet and greet.

Story
Socks is approximately 2 years old. He was dumped into one of our cat colonies. He was rolling around in the middle of one of the busiest parking lots of a huge shopping plaza! We immediately snagged him and brought him into our home and rescue before he got hurt. Since arriving here, he has become the most loving and affectionate cat. All he wants is to be petted and snuggled with. He is very quiet. We have yet to hear him purr or meow, (thats a lie! Socks started purring yesterday....but we still haven't heard him meow!) but his eyes and body movements tell you everything he is thinking. Socks is very unique in the fact that he rolls everywhere! He is always rubbing up against the wall or your leg and instantly falls over and rolls around wanting to be petted. He does this all day long! Socks is living with another one of our friendly colony cats, Flower. (Flower is also up for adoption) She is also just as affectionate. They get along great for just meeting one another, which makes us believe Socks would do good with other cats. He also has the personality to be fine being an only cat, IF he was getting a lot of attention from his humans. He definitely needs a friend, whether that be you, another cat, or Flower. He hasn’t been around and dogs or kids, so we are unsure how he would react to them. Even though Socks was found outside, he is NOT an outside cat, and CAN NOT be allowed outside. He is strictly an indoor cat! Socks has been health checked, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed. He comes with all his favorite toys, new toys, new kitty carrier, blankie, dry and wet food (he loves wet food), treats, litter, new litter box and anything else he has claimed as his while on vacation with us. If you are interested in Socks please fill out the adoption questionnaire and email it back to us. The questionnaire must be filled out before we will even consider your inquiry. We do not respond to the simple button push “is this cat available.” Inquires are responded to in the order received. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Leah is a shy girl but a lover at heart. It may take her awhile to come out of her shell, but she still loves to be petted and loved on even though she may not make the first move. She will need patience and lots of affection but once you win her trust it will be worth it. Leah is one of our "socially awkward" cats. Some cats are shy, timid, or fearful of people and other cats. They may hide, avoid, or even lash out when approached by strangers. These cats are not mean or unlovable; they are just socially awkward and need extra time and patience to trust and bond with their human companions. They may never become affectionate lap cats, but they have their own unique ways of showing love and appreciation. If you are looking for a cat who will challenge you, surprise you, and reward you with loyalty and devotion, then you might be the perfect match for one of our socially awkward cats.   Because these cats require more patience and understanding than most, we have a few special policies regarding them:   We will ask more questions about your home environment, other pets, children, and other details to make sure you are the right match for the cat. Please don't be discouraged if you are not the right fit! We have many other cats, and one of them is sure to be a fit. We typically arrange video meet-and-greets for these cats for the initial contact. Most of these cats get stressed out by new situations, and allowing them to be seen without that stress trigger makes for a better experience for everyone. We may discount the adoption fees for these cats. Our first priority is to find the right match between cat and human, and we realize that these kitties may take more time than most to settle in and determine compatibility.   If you think you may be the right fit for Leah or another one of our socially awkward cats, please fill out an interest form today! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.    Our adoption fee is $175       If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Cat Interest Form on AZRAIN.ORG and, if you are selected as a prospective adopter, we will contact you to set up a meet and greet. Thank you for considering rescuing an animal in need!     May 23, 2024, 9:30 pm

He’s a lovely cat and we really don’t want to give him up but our baby daughter is allergic! He’s previously lived, and bonded with 2 other cats over the years.
