Story
FOSTERED IN: Chicago, IL 60617 ESTIMATED DOB: 2020 COLOR/BREED: Black Shorthair KIDS: Teenage + DOGS: Yes CATS: Females HISTORY: Malcolm was an outdoor stray. His foster tries to care for and get as many of the neighborhood strays fixed as she can. Malcolm had been around for a few years but was incredibly friendly and kept asking to come inside, so his caretaker/foster couldn’t say no. Malcolm is FIV+ and FeLV+ Upon intake to Lulu’s he had bloodwork done that showed he was healthy enough to have the dental he desperately needed. ABOUT: If only Malcolm could tell us his story. His foster said he was one of the dominant males in the neighborhood prowling the neighborhood for about 5 years before he was neutered. Malcolm is both FIV and Feline Leukemia (FeLV) positive. Because FeLV is easily transmitted to other cats, he will need to be an only cat or live in a home with another FeLV positive cat. The lifespan of cats with FeLV can vary widely, but overall is unknown, so he will need a special adopter willing to love him for whatever time this world grants him. Malcolm is very low energy and likes to spend most of his time perfecting his napping skills. He likes his meals to be served on time and if you are late he will come get you and tell you that it is time. His foster used the following words to describe him: Gentlemanly, Sweet, Affectionate, Stoic, Quiet. Malcolm prefers to hide in unknown situations so he might take a little bit of time to warm up to his new family. His foster said he seems especially wary of teenage boys, so we aren’t sure if something happened in his years on the street to make him more nervous around males. He will likely be more attracted to females. Once he knows you he loves pets and cuddles and even likes to be held! Malcolm does great with the female cat in the house. He loves to groom her and sleep with her, but he doesn’t do as well with males. He generally ignores the large and small breed dogs, but he will curl up next to them for a nap so he would do very well in homes with cat-friendly dogs. He will be most comfortable in an adults only home as he isn’t curious about new things and instead chooses to hide until they are over. Do you have room in your home and heart for this special boy? The first step is to fill out our adoption application. More information and our adoption application can be found at www.luluslockerrescue.org. Story
FOSTERED IN: Adoption Center - Frankfort, IL 60423 ESTIMATED DOB: 10/2021 COLOR/BREED: Black Shorthair KIDS: Older DOGS: Unknown CATS: Yes HISTORY: Hurricane was rescued from a local animal shelter. ABOUT: How could any cat named Hurricane not be a flurry of fun? She loves to play with a wand toy! She is an active girl, but not a kitten type of energy. She is a good blend between playful and knowing how to kick back and put her paws up. Hurricane is a petite girl of around 8 pounds. Hurricane has a bit of a silly side, and has been known to roll around in her clean litter box to grab the attention of our volunteers. Hurricane is very food motivated, and looks forward to all her meals. She eats wet and dry cat food. She is a very sweet girl who enjoys being pet and will casually come by for some pets, but she isn’t the type who will be constantly in your face demanding attention. Big things come in small packages, and Hurricane is proof of that! Hurricane has done well with the other cats at our adoption center, but likes a little bit of time to get to know them. Hurricane has not been around dogs so we do not know if she would appreciate living in a home with a dog. We also do not know how Hurricane would do with kids, but we think that respectful, older kids would be just fine, she doesn’t love a lot of commotion so very young children would likely not be ideal for her. Hurricane is FIV+ Interested in adding one of our adoptables to your family? The first step is to fill out our adoption application. Story
FOSTERED IN: Chicago, IL 60654 ESTIMATED DOB: 2017 COLOR/BREED: Orange Tabby Shorthair KIDS: Older DOGS: Unknown CATS: Required HISTORY: Henry2 came to us from an animal control facility in NW Indiana. ABOUT: Henry2 is a very docile, sweet, agreeable kitty. Henry2 is very playful and enjoys all kinds of toys, but his fishing pole is his favorite. He isn’t a bother when he wants to play, he just calmly sits in front of you until you get the hint. He will play as long as you will, but he accepts when playtime is over. Henry2 also enjoys watching TV (seriously) so once playtime is over he is happy to curl up next to you to watch your favorite show. Henry2 loves to be pet all over, and even has a cute quirk that he won’t start eating until you give him a few pets. Henry2 likes to have a little bit of time to warm up to new people before he wants to be pet by them, but he doesn’t run and hide. He is very curious and likes to watch the new people for a bit, before asking for some pets. Henry2 will do best in a home that loves to talk to him and give him pets and scratches and share his constant company (because he will always be nearby), but understands that Henry2 won’t be the cat who wants to be picked up, carried around, and smothered. Henry2 has done excellent with the resident cats in his foster home. He loves to snuggle with them at nap time and is happy to match their play style. He interacts more calmly with relaxed cats, and loves a good roughhouse with the cat who prefers that play style. Henry2 never initiates rough play, but he is happy to step up to the plate if it is offered to him. Henry2 needs to be adopted into a home with at least 1 resident cat. Having cat buddies around makes him feel comfortable and confident. He would be a great playmate or companion to another cat. Henry2 is not being fostered with dogs, but his foster thinks he may do ok in homes with the calmest of dogs who won’t be interested in him. Henry2 is also not being fostered with children. He will likely do OK in calm, predictable homes with older children who will give him gentle pets and play with him, but who can understand he won’t want to be treated like a toy. If you think this easygoing, friendly, loving boy is a just what your home is missing you can find information on adoption and our adoption application on our website: www.luluslockerrescue.org. Henry2 is a very sweet, mellow, yet playful, agreeable kitty. He enjoys gentle attention from people, but he will take a little time to develop trust with new people. He’s the type of guy that doesn’t demand to be touched, but will always be somewhere close by. He likes to be pet and brushed when he has already chosen a spot to settle in and lie down. He doesn’t like commotion or loud voices inside his home, but he has adapted to the noises of city life with no problem. Henry2 loves when someone has time to play with him using the wand toy or laser pointer. He is not needy for playtime and will entertain himself with toys or wait patiently for you when he is feeling playful. His foster mom said he is the perfect houseguest and never gets into any mischief or trouble. Henry2 is currently being fostered with cats and he gets along very well with them and enjoys interacting and snuggling with them. We will require that Henry2 be adopted into a home with a welcoming, resident cat. Henry2 will prefer a more predictable home with less activity. We do not feel that homes with young, active children will be ideal for him. We do not know how Henry2 does with dogs, but we think a home without dogs will suit him best. Are you interested in adopting a kitty that you can watch blossom? Henry2 is ready to find his patient, calm, forever home. The first step in our adoption process is to complete the adoption application. More information and our adoption application can be found at www.luluslockerrescue.org. Henry2 really does like to watch TV: https://youtube.com/shorts/aQlqA-I2DHY?feature=share Henry2 appreciates some good pets: https://youtu.be/oK-ykTicgsU Henry2 playing with the resident cat: https://youtube.com/shorts/OHr1xIxKLqU Henry2 watches his favorite show: https://youtube.com/shorts/S3ZphU8W0WU

Story
FOSTERED IN: Adoption Center - Frankfort, IL 60423 ESTIMATED DOB: 06/2022 COLOR/BREED: Tabby and White Shorthair KIDS: Older DOGS: Unknown CATS: Yes HISTORY: Milton came to us from Louisiana. A resident thought he was feral so they trapped him to neuter and return. After he was neutered it turned out he was not feral and he kept acting as if he wanted to come inside so the residents befriended him and decided his best life would be inside as a family pet. ABOUT: Once labeled as a "shy guy", Milton has really come out of his shell during his stay at our adoption center. He can be a touch sensitive to loud noises or sudden movements, this kind-hearted soul just wants to be your friend. Once he trusts you, he won't leave you alone. He'll be rubbing against your legs, rolling over on his back and letting you softly pet his belly. Milton shows his affection by giving gentle little love bites while you pet him, so don't be alarmed if he places his teeth on you. That means he likes you! However, because of this, he probably would not be an ideal candidate for younger children, though older kids/teenagers who are calm and gentle would be a good fit. Milton gets along well with other cats, so long as they are not bullies. He'll even allow himself to be groomed by others. In fact, we have found that Milton is much more outgoing when he is paired with a social kitty, so we are seeking a home for him that has at least one other welcoming cat. Once he's comfortable in his new environment, he'll even show his playful side (he especially likes wand type toys). And once he's had his fill of attention for the time being, he's perfectly content to find a comfy spot to relax in, making him the perfect mix of affectionate and independent. He'd excel in a low energy household with a fellow friendly feline and a patient, loving family who want a chill, exceptionally sweet companion. His bright, expressive eyes make him quite photogenic, and you'll never tire of taking pictures of his cute face! Interested in adding this lovable, handsome to your family? The first step is to fill out our adoption application. More information and our adoption application can be found at www.luluslockerrescue.org.

Story
FOSTERED IN: Adoption Center - Frankfort, IL 60423 ESTIMATED DOB: 08/2022 COLOR/BREED: Tabby Shorthair KIDS: Likely DOGS: Unknown CATS: Some HISTORY: Sonya was abandoned overnight behind a local animal control facility, left inside one of their outdoor dog kennels, luckily in a carrier, so she was protected from the dogs who were let out before she was found. ABOUT: Sonya is a very confident young lady. She will happily greet you at the door and proceed to rub her face all over your feet (and if you're wearing sandals, your toes will probably get a few licks!). Sometimes she'll flop right over on top of them so that you can't even move until you reach down and give her the attention she's looking for. She enjoys receiving pets and spending time with her humans (she'll often hop right up on the couch when you sit down), but she can be independent and isn’t needy, so you don't have to worry about entertaining her 24/7. Sonya is moderately active, so she will engage in playtime when encouraged, but also likes to chill and relax in front of a window for much of the day. She loves to climb, so she would love to have a cat tree in her future home. Sonya will need a slow introduction to other cats, but she does enjoy the company of some cats after she gets to know them. She will likely do better with non-assertive males. She’s not opposed to giving another cat a bop on the nose if they get too close. She would easily be happy as an only cat too. Interested in adding this beautiful, outgoing girl to your family? The first step is to fill out our adoption application. More information and our adoption application can be found at www.luluslockerrescue.org.

Story
FOSTERED IN: Adoption Center - Frankfort, IL 60423 ESTIMATED DOB: 06/2021 COLOR/BREED: Tabby Shorthair KIDS: Likely DOGS: Unknown CATS: Yes HISTORY: Izzy was originally adopted out as a kitten by a local animal control but was sadly returned about 2 years later when his family lost their home. He was quite depressed and scared when first entering animal control, but we're happy to report that he is now happy and relaxed since arriving at the rescue. ABOUT: Izzy is a big, handsome guy with amazing “classic tabby” swirl markings. Izzy loves loves climbing and exploring, but he doesn't have the wild and crazy energy of a kitten. Izzy is a friendly guy without being overly annoying or needy, and while he enjoys receiving gentle pets, he doesn't necessarily want to be smothered with attention. He currently rooms with some other chill felines and does well sharing space with them, but he is a bit independent and doesn’t interact with them much, but he'll certainly coexist with other respectful cats. He would easily be comfortable as an only cat too. Overall, he's a pretty chill cat and definitely likes lounging in high up spaces, so he would love to have a cat tree in his adoptive home. He also loves using his scratching posts, so that's another item on his "perfect home wishlist". If he could ask for one more thing - he would love a nice window to watch the birds and animals outside. Interested in adding this cool, easy-going guy to your family? The first step is to fill out our adoption application. More information and our adoption application can be found at www.luluslockerrescue.org.

Story
FOSTERED IN: Frankfort, IL ESTIMATED DOB: July 2022 COLOR/BREED: Brown Tabby, Shorthair KIDS: Likely DOGS: Unknown CATS: Yes HISTORY: Motel gets his unusual name from the location where he was found. Yes, that's right! He was found abandoned at a motel with another adult cat and a kitten. They were transferred to animal control, and when no one stepped forward to claim them, Motel found a safe landing at the rescue. ABOUT: Motel is estimated to be about a year old, but he's definitely still a little kitten in spirit! This active busy body is always on the move exploring and climbing. He's also super playful but has no problem entertaining himself, so long as there are toys, boxes and tunnels for him to conquer. He does get along well with other cats, but because of his energy level, he may not be a good match for all felines (like seniors or cats or those who are more sensitive and don't like to be played with). Motel also loves to talk and will do so if he's not getting enough attention. Motel has the most stunning swirl tabby markings which makes him easy on the eyes and a great candidate for a potential Instagram star! His personality is just as stunning as his looks. This social guy is ready to meet your guests and visitors the moment they walk in the door and is sure to charm every person he meets within minutes! He's outgoing, adventurous and friendly, so he'd thrive in an active home. A word of caution, though - he *does* like to try to sneak out the door so needs to monitored closely as people are coming and going. Interested in adding this fun-loving, happy guy to your family?
