Story
Josie is a 2.5-year-old cat who came to us as a pregnant , friendly stray. She is quite the princess! She is a lovely, mostly white, girl with calico markings on her face, ears, and tail. She was a wonderful momma to her kittens and now it is time for her to find her own forever home. Josie has an extra toe on her front foot, which makes her ‘clomp’ a little when she walks. It’s kind of endearing! She is a little on the plump side (we are working on this!), and generally likes to sit close to her person all day long, making very few demands but enjoying periodic pets and scritches. She also likes to be brushed.  Josie is fairly low-energy and quiet. She is very tidy and clean, and is an easygoing cat – likes most food, scratches on her cardboard scratcher, and uses her litter box reliably. She loves her food (wet and dry) and will let you know if you are late serving her!  Josie will do best with an experienced cat owner who understands cats that are easily overstimulated and will take Josie’s cues for how, when, and how much she wants to engage with her human(s). She can get a bit spicy when she gets overstimulated.  Josie should be an only cat. She has not enjoyed the other cats in her foster home, and she REALLY does not care for dogs!  We believe that she would not enjoy young children. She is also NOT a fan of having her nails trimmed (but who is?). This is a princess who needs a quiet home, an experienced owner, and attention and affection on her terms. As we are still closed to the public, we are doing adoptions by appointment only. If you have an interest in Josie, please fill out an adoption application on our website - metrowesthumanesociety.org - under Adoptions and forward to us at mwhspaw@yahoo.com. We will review all applications and make appointments for those applicants we feel would provide a good home for Josie. February 28, 2024, 11:08 am

Story
Peach (2 years old) and Patch (1 year old), are a bonded pair of handsome boys that are looking for their forever home. Peach was a stray in Framingham and Patch was left in a carrier at a farm, but both came to the shelter at the same time and a friendship quickly blossomed. At first, both were fearful of humans, but they learned step by step that people aren't so bad and they deliver the food.Peach is still nervous around people's hands, but likes to watch what you're doing. He is a very curious and playful kitty. He is always first at the door when he sees a wand toy. He also loves treats and is food motivated (usually first jumping at the door for his servers). He will need you to be patient with him and earn his trust.   Patch is a very funny guy. He learned how fun it is to play with humans and gets more and more into it as time goes on. He also likes to play tag with you and is good at not using his claws as he plays - just his way to get attention and convince you to give him some treats. He is always first in line for treats and will reward you by letting you pet him when he gets them. These two buddies love to sleep and snuggle together and will need to be adopted together. They are looking for a special family that will understand their needs, give them time to adjust to their new home, and be patient while earning their trust. A quiet home without children will be best for them.As we are still closed to the public, we are doing adoptions by appointment only. If you have an interest in meeting Peach & Patch, please fill out an adoption application on our website - www.metrowesthumanesociety.org - under Adoptions and forward to us at mwhspaw@yahoo.com. We will review all applications and make appointments for those applicants we feel would provide a good and loving home for Peach & Patch. February 28, 2024, 11:08 am

Story
Layla is a beautiful 2.5-year-old female who was trapped outside an apartment complex in June where she had been abandoned when her owners moved out. At the time, two kind neighbors had been feeding Layla. They thought she was pregnant and wanted to get her to safety before she gave birth, so they brought her to MWHS. Layla went into one of our foster homes and had two adorable kittens. Now that her kittens are in their own forever homes, Layla is ready for her own. She is doing incredibly well in her foster home and her sweet personality shows more and more each day. She is still a bit cautious with loud noises but is THE true definition of a couch potato! She has been living with her foster dog in complete harmony and has adjusted easily to visiting family dogs. She walks around her foster home like she owns the house with no fear whatsoever! Layla is affectionate and loves attention from trusted caregivers by laying belly up, seeking belly rubs. Although she can be cautious in new situations and has done very well settling in, Layla will need a forever family that will be patient and allow her to get comfortable in her new home just as she has done in her foster home.  As we are still closed to the public, we are doing adoptions by appointment only. If you have an interest in meeting Layla, please fill out an adoption application on our website - www.metrowesthumanesociety.org - under Adoptions and forward it to us at mwhspaw@yahoo.com. We will review all applications and make appointments for those applicants we feel would provide a good and loving home for Layla. February 28, 2024, 11:08 am

Story
Mouse (tuxedo) is a 7-year-old girl that came to MWHS as a stray, and Howard (brown tabby) is a 12-year-old boy that was trapped. They came to the shelter several years apart, but found comfort in each other and became very bonded. Their behavior is pretty similar, they are very shy but will allow petting and attention if you take your time and be patient with them.   Mouse is a chubby girl that loves her food. When you meet her she will hiss, but she is just a little drama queen that hisses to communicate for everything. The funniest thing is when you give her food and she meows and hisses because she can't wait to be fed. She doesn't play very much and she is more of a lazy girl, but she loves snuggles and sharing a food bowl with her boyfriend, Howard.   Howard also loves to pass time with Mouse and likes to cuddle with her. Howard loves to look out the window and loves food as well. If he is not comfortable, he freezes and turns into a statue, but if you go slow he loves brushing and being pet.    Mouse & Howard are like two soulmates that want to stay together and continue to share beds and bowls in a lovely and peaceful home. They will need to go with a family that has experience with shy cats, and doesn't have any dogs or children. These sweet cats have been at the shelter for several years, so they will take time to adjust to their new environment, but they can't wait to start the next chapter of their life with their own family.   As we are still closed to the public, we are doing adoptions by appointment only. If you have an interest in Mouse & Howard, please fill out an adoption application on our website - metrowesthumanesociety.org - under Adoptions and forward to us at mwhspaw@yahoo.com. We will review all applications and make appointments for those applicants we feel would provide a good home for  Mouse & Howard. February 28, 2024, 11:08 am

Story
Hollis is a beautiful 11-month-old Tortie female, who was brought to our shelter by a local Animal Control officer. She is a petite cat with a shy but sweet personality. She is also curious and likes to check out her environment and see what's going on outside the window. Hollis is becoming more confident every day and loves getting attention and pets. As she is timid, she prefers for you to come to her to pet and love on her. She loves to play with humans and also with calm cats that will be gentle with her. Hollis is looking for a home where she can blossom and have another cat companion to help her come out of her shell even more. A patient family and a quiet home will be best for her. She has never met dogs yet, so we don't know how she will be with them.    As we are closed to the public, adoptions are by appointment only. If you have an interest in meeting Hollis, please fill out an adoption application on our website - www.metrowesthumanesociety.org - under Adoptions and forward to us at mwhspaw@yahoo.com. We will review all applications and make appointments for those applicants we feel would provide a good and loving home for Hollis. February 28, 2024, 11:08 am

Story
Barry is a big, handsome 3-year-old boy who was surrendered to MWHS when his owner could no longer care for him. He is a lovebug who absolutely loves to play! He can be reactive to noise, but will come to you for affection or play. Head and chin scratches are his favorite, and they will induce lots of purring. Barry likes to be held to see what’s going on around him and for kisses on his head. He is a very energetic young cat who adores his feather toys and will need a family that has time to play with him. He sometimes gets overstimulated and is learning that hands are not toys, but he is not aggressive and doesn't use his claws. Another companion could be good for him if the other cat likes to play with him. Barry is looking for his forever home now, with a family that will give him the time and attention he needs. A family with children over 12 who have lived with cats could work. We don't know about dogs, as he has never met one.    As we are closed to the public, adoptions are by appointment only. If you are interested in meeting Barry, please fill out an adoption application on our website - www.metrowesthumanesociety.org - under Adoptions and forward it to us at mwhspaw@yahoo.com. We will review all applications and make appointments for those applicants we feel would provide a good and loving home for Barry. February 28, 2024, 11:08 am
