Story
Our barn cat program is for our cats that take part in the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program but can't be returned to their communities because of danger or lack of care. These are our less social cats that don't crave the company of people, at least at this point in their lives. These cats are peaceful, easy to care for, and make friends easily with other farm animals. Pictured is our lovely Chula who was adopted as a mouser for the family chicken coop. The family followed the relocation instructions and Chula became queen of the land! Like Chula, many families that have adopted a barn cat report that the cats have become friendly over time and bonded with the other animals as well has the people. Most often, the cats are delivered in pairs by our volunteer that settle the cats in and provide instructions for you to follow. All agree that it is very rewarding to give a home and freedom to a less fortunate cat who just by chance was born without a human hand. Please fill out our application from our website and call 860-479-5173. Thank you!

Good with cats,
Story
Archie is a sweet, imaginative little guy! He was one of an adorable backyard litter. He came in very scared and even though his hissed, he would not think of scratching or biting. His siblings have gone home now and Archie is busy trying to charm the grown up cats in the foster home. He just loves other cats and it seems that he was very attached to him mom and is still looking for her; even though he is a big 12 week old boy now. Archie's home must be a patient one that will let him grow at his own pace. It must also have other cats because he just plays and plays and plays. Please fill out an application on our website at www.hucatrescue.org. Thank you!

Story
Darius is a 2 year old neutered male kitty. He is a very sweet boy that loves to play with his toys, and people. We recently found out that he is a bully to other cats and would do best as an only cat. He is very vocal and he loves to know what is happening and will come find you. He likes his own time and can be nervous with loud noises or quick movements. Even though he likes attention he does not like to sit on your lap. He has a history of crystals in his urine and will require a prescription urinary diet. He also doesn't crouch too low when using his litterbox and needs a covered or high sided litterbox.    All of our cats are spayed/neutered and current on rabies and distemper vaccines. They are tested for feline leukemia, FIV, heartworm and intestinal parasites including giardia. They have been dewormed and treated with flea prevention.  We are currently doing a foster to adopt program with our cats. This allows the approved adopter to become a foster home for 2-4 weeks. If the adopter and the kitty are happy with each other we complete the adoption, if not we take our kitty back again. Our adoption fee is $200. Apply now or reach out to us with any questions! ##1082585##

Story
Liz is a very petite sweet kitty. She was a stray pregnant cat that had 4 kittens. Her sons have been adopted but Liz and her daughter, Kiki, have not. Kiki loves her mom so much that they need to be adopted together. They both play together and sleep together. Kiki is a 1yr old now and is a little uncertain about things and looks to her mom for guidance. They would do better in a somewhat quieter home with older children and no other pets. Story
Dylan is a 2yr old sweet little guy. He loves his foster mom & dad but he is nervous when other people visit. He would do well in a quiet, less active home. He loves to be snuggled and pet and plays well with his siblings. He is used to small quiet dogs. He is very food motivated and treats do help him warm up to new people and promote trust. All of our cats are spayed/neutered and current on rabies and distemper vaccines. They are tested for feline leukemia, FIV, heartworm and intestinal parasites including giardia.
