Story
Meet Aidan! This old man came to us as a stray. When we posted him as a found cat, people thought his bent ear was an ear tip. It appears that way, but the tip of his ear bends back. At 16 years old, Aidan is not impressed by much, nor is he interested in much. His two favorite things are: Naptime and Feeding Time. Aidan is not infatuated by toys, he does not care much for catnip. He is sometimes interested in being patted, but most of the time he is just a typical grumpy elderly fella. Let him live in your space in peace, do his own thing, and you will get along great. He is looking for a home without any other pets or children, and preferably just one person. Aidan can get overwhelmed around a lot of people, and overstimulates extremely easily. He is not a cat that enjoys being picked up, carried, or much handling in general. He enjoys his treats- temptations are his favorite. Aidan has kidney disease, and is on a canned food only diet. He refuses to eat any kidney or renal diet canned food. If you are interested in caring for this senior in his final years, fill out the inquiry form below!

Story
Do you like things in life that are bit on the spicier side? Then Stewy is the girl for you! Long story about her name - just think rock star Stevie Nicks. Human hands have not always been kind to Stewy and when she was first rescued she wasn't feeling great either. But now she is eating like a champ and has adjusted well to her foster home. UPDATE: Stewy has come a long way since coming into her foster home. If her foster mom puts her hand down and lets her sniff it, Stewy will rub against it and happily accept gentle pats. You just have to be okay that it's on her terms! She will need a cat savvy adopter who can read her body language and respect her boundaries. She is a playful 3 year old who loves her soft toys, enjoys her big cardboard scratcher, and so smart that she figured out how to get treats from a treat ball the first time right off the bat. When she becomes comfortable in her new home she enjoys just hanging around with her family. Then she becomes very chatty and loves to tell you a story as she follows you around. Stewy may not be everyone's cup of tea perhaps, but surely there is someone out there who can give her a loving forever home. When you have earned her trust and she lets you pat her it is so rewarding to see her safe and loved. If you are interested in finding out more about Stewy, please fill out an application on our website by copying and pasting the following link into your browser. https://forms.gle/ZfhWg4o7sdGHTcf56 Stewy is being fostered in Worcester and her adoption fee is $225.

Story
Meet bonded kittens, Poppy and Petey. These 13 week old kittens are an absolute joy. Petey is an adorable tabby. He has the most beautiful markings on his face. He loves to explore! He is a little bit less cuddly than his sister, Poppy, but he is still very social with people and used to being picked up and held. Petey is incredibly playful and definitely bonded with Poppy. Poppy is all black. She is cautious but very friendly. She often watches her brave brother, Petey, try things first and then joins in. Poppy is a bit wobbly and clumsy, we suspect she may have a mild case of cerebellar hyperplasia. She loves to chase and play fight with her brother. She is a great eater and uses the litter no problem. Poppy has learned how to jump down gracefully from about a foot high, but she still tumbles sometimes. Because of Poppy's balance issues she needs to be in a home without stairs and an adopter who will be attentive to her needs and ensure her home space is safe. Petey and Poppy are being fostered in Arlington, MA. Story
Meet Paisley (female) and Corduroy (male), who are both 1 and a half yrs old. These 2 sweet but very shy siblings who were rescued from the streets in South Florida. As strays they had to navigate the dangers of living on tough streets, where humans were not always good to them. Understandably, as a result of this difficult early life, these two are cautious and wary of people. Since being rescued and living in a foster home, Corduroy and Paisley are learning that humans can be loving and safe. Though they are still timid and hide when their foster mom enters the room, they are slowly coming out their shell and learning to trust. These 2 need a patient and loving adopter who is compassionate and can allow them the time they need to become the lap cats we hope they want to be. These two are stunningly beautiful, with bright white coats, dark gray patches and bold striped tails. Do you have a big heart and able to give these two sweet and scared kitties a loving home where they can finally learn to trust and love? Paisley and Corduroy are being fostered in Easton, MA. To adopt and schedule a meet and greet, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://forms.gle/ZfhWg4o7sdGHTcf56

Supporters and Recurring Giving Donors will be put on our VIP Application List &#226&#128&#139 Adoption Costs and other important information. If you are interested in adopting from Sterling Animal Shelter, please submit an application through our "Pets for Adoption" page.  We are currently open by appointment only Tuesday through Friday, and have Open Hours on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm.  Our appointments are scheduled by matching our applications to our available pets. If your application is chosen, our staff will contact you to set an appointment for a meet and greet to spend some time with the animal one-on-one. We do still have same day adoptions, and if your meet is successful, you can take your pet home at the time of your appointment.  To find the best match for each pet, we prefer to have the entire family present when doing an adoption. If you have a dog at home already, please be prepared to bring your resident dog to meet a potential new dog, to ensure all parties get along. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Apply for cats at www.carmah.org All cats are first come first serve; sorry, we cannot reserve cats.  I'm Cookie, a delightful girl kitty. During the day, I am quiet and either rest or enjoy watching the world go by. By night I am a purrrfect delight. I will head butt you and roll around to ask you to pet me. It only takes a few ear or cheek scratches to rev up my purr motor. When I am done, I will give you the gentlest of pats to let you know. And I am playful! I love wand toys.  I'd be best as an only cat, with older respectful children or adults only, please.  I am 1 year old and in great health. Looking for a sweet evening treat? That would be me, Cookie!! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Kittens under six months must have a cat buddy. Adoption fees are $325 for kittens under a year, $600 per pair $250 for cats 1-11 years, $175 for cats 12+ years   CaRMaH is an all volunteer, no-kill cat rescue group serving the Marlborough/Hudson MA area and beyond. Story
Sylvia was surrendered when her owner went into a nursing home and the family couldn't keep her. She's a senior cat and, common in older cats, Sylvia has mild chronic kidney disease (CKD). She also takes anti anxiety medication daily, mixed in with her food. You wouldn't know she's a senior cat though from the energy with which she plays with toys. She will seek you out for play time, pets, and to get brushed. She'll tell you when you stopped brushing her too soon. We're looking for an experienced adopter. She will need time and patience for her to get comfortable with you before you can see her sweet and playful side. https://forms.gle/ZfhWg4o7sdGHTcf56
