Meet Stewy, a delightful 4-year-old girl on the lookout for a forever home filled with love. Rescued from a challenging past, Stewy has blossomed under the care of her foster mom. Initially wary, she now craves affection, eagerly snuggling up on the couch or in her foster's lap, and joyfully trailing behind her throughout the house. While she prefers calm environments and may gently swat if startled, Stewy is learning to trust and yearns for a safe and loving environment to call her own. Could you be the one to give Stewy the happy ending she deserves? Because of her occasional soft swatting when startled, she should not be around young children. She enjoys her big cardboard scratcher, will entertain herself with her soft toys when you're out doing errands, and she's so smart that she figured out how to get treats from a treat ball the first time right off the bat. She enjoys hanging around with her people, can become a little chatty at times and loves to tell you a story as she follows you around. She isn't horrible around other cats, but really isn't a fan of them and would prefer to be your only pet. Stewy needs an adopter who will be patient with her as she learns to trust people again. While happy in her foster home she seems a little sad that she hasn't found her loving forever home yet. She has become quite a lovely companion.. Meet Paisley (female) and Corduroy (male), who are both 1 and a half yrs old. These 2 sweet but very shy siblings who were rescued from the streets in South Florida. As strays they had to navigate the dangers of living on tough streets, where humans were not always good to them. Understandably, as a result of this difficult early life, these two are cautious and wary of people. Since being rescued and living in a foster home, Corduroy and Paisley are learning that humans can be loving and safe. Though they are still timid, Corduroy has become affectionate, rubbing on his foster mom's legs seeking love. And both love playing with wand toys and run around chasing each other. These 2 need a patient and loving adopter who is compassionate and can allow them the time they need to come out of their protective shells. These two are stunningly beautiful, with bright white coats, dark gray patches and bold striped tails. Meet sweet, 7-yr-old, sisters, Quartz and Diamond. These 2 kitties were found locked away in a dirty garage that had no light, toys, or bedding with little human contact. Despite the terrible conditions that they lived in, they are super sweet girls. They have moments when they (like all sisters) squabble but they love each other and are bonded. QUARTZ Howdy! I'm Quartz! I arrived at Broken Tail Rescue with my sister Diamond after we were both rescued from living in a dirty garage. We are so happy to have toys, a nice bed and human friends to keep us company. I am more outgoing and confident than my sister, Diamond, but she is pretty cool too! I LOVE wand toys, kicky sticks and knocking around catnip mice. I hope you don't mind if I lay on your chest, give you head boops and purrrrr. I just want to show you that I love you! I don't mind being picked up and I get along pretty well with my other foster friends. My sissy and I have been through a lot but despite that, we remain sweet and loving. I hope you have a big enough heart to bring both me and my sister home with you. DIAMOND Hi there! My name is Diamond and my sister Quartz and I found ourselves at Broken Tail Rescue after we were rescued from some pretty poor living conditions. So I hope you will be patient with me as I am still a little scared and slower to trust than my sister Quartz. I promise that once I get to know you, I will be happy to show you my belly! I love slow, gentle pets and my foster mama says I have the most beautiful eyes even if they are slightly crossed. But she says it makes me even cuter. I LOVE wet food, which might be why the vet said I'm a little chonky. I hope that wherever I go, I will be with my sister Quartz because she's my best friend! Abigail is an affectionate cat with a bit of a cat-titude. She is obsessed with catnip and likes attention but when she has had enough she will let you know with a gentle sway and/or love bite. If you are interested in adopting from Sterling Animal Shelter, please submit an application through our "Pets for Adoption" page. We are currently open by appointment only Tuesday through Friday, and have Open Hours on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. Our appointments are scheduled by matching our applications to our available pets. If your application is chosen, our staff will contact you to set an appointment for a meet and greet to spend some time with the animal one-on-one. We do still have same day adoptions, and if your meet is successful, you can take your pet home at the time of your appointment. Sylvia was surrendered when her owner went into a nursing home and the family couldn't keep her. She's a senior cat and, common in older cats, Sylvia has mild chronic kidney disease (CKD). She also takes anti anxiety medication daily, mixed in with her food. You wouldn't know she's a senior cat though from the energy with which she plays with toys. She will seek you out for play time, pets, and to get brushed. She'll tell you when you stopped brushing her too soon. We're looking for an experienced adopter.
