Story
Bernice is a adult grey and white with a "sweet and sassy" disposition. She is a very smart cat with a very quirky personality. Bernice is a bit of a diva and likes to have everything her way so you want to be "owned" by your cat, Bernice may be the one for you. She has a deep dislike of other pets (she likes to be the center of attention of course) so she must be inside only in a home where there are no other cats or dogs. Bernice would do best with an experienced cat owner who understands cat-a-tudes and when Bernice wants some "alone time". Small children are not her cup of tea and prefers quiet predictable, evenings with no drama. If you want to share your life with Bernice, please let us know! All PAWS-OK cats and kittens have been fostered in a home environment and are litter box trained, up-to-date on their vaccinations, spayed or neutered and have been tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV prior to being made available for adoption. The adoption fee is $80 (cash only). A few of our cats are available to view in our Adoption Center at PetSmart on NW Expressway and Rockwell in OKC. Because of the pandemic, the cats there may be viewed but not played with in the store without except by appointment with a PAWS-OK Adoption Counselor. Please check our website at pawsok.com and go to the ADOPT tab to see pictures of the cats in the Adoption Center. The first step in adoption is to complete an Adoption Request form which we use to help us match you with a cat or kitten that best meets your desires, experience and home environment. You can fill one out online at //form.jotform.com/pawsokrescue/adoption-request-form Adoption Requests take 2-4 days to process and initial contact will be made via e-mail should the review board have additional questions. PAWS-OK volunteers or fosters may also reach out to you via phone for an interview. Due to the virus we are limiting our contact with the public to keep prospective adopters and our volunteers safe. Much of the conversations that in the past took place in the Adoption Center now happens via phone interview. This interview could usually lasts 60-90 minutes. NOTE: The whole family should be present for the phone interview and must be present at the adoption. Some of our cats don't like everyone and we want to ensure that the whole family (cat included) is happy with the adoption. Thanks for adopting a rescued cat - they make the best pets!

Story
Bonnie and her brother, Clyde were surrendered to PAWS-OK in March. Their mom was very sick and had to move in with relatives. Bonnie is a sweetie (as you can see from the pictures) although sometimes gets irritated by her brother (LOL - isn't that always the way?). She is a larger cat and was very caring with her previous owner, especially as she became more ill - these two were her comfort. They are very laid back cats once they get used to their new surroundings. All PAWS-OK cats and kittens have been fostered in a home environment and are litter box trained, up-to-date on their vaccinations, spayed or neutered and have been tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV prior to being made available for adoption. Story
Clyde and his sister, Bonnie were surrendered to PAWS in March 2020. Their mom was very sick and had to move in with relatives and could only bring a couple of her pets so she asked us to find this great pair a new home(s). While they have been together their whole lives they would likely be fine in separate homes. Clyde is a sweetheart and very passive (sometimes Bonnie will get irritated with him - like all sisters I guess). He has a wonderful stripe across his nose which makes him very distinctive. These two are easy to carry around, adventurous and very social. A great pair! All PAWS-OK cats and kittens have been fostered in a home environment and are litter box trained, up-to-date on their vaccinations, spayed or neutered and have been tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV prior to being made available for adoption. Story
Scarlett is a sweet little torbi cat who was surrendered to PAWS in September 2020. Scarlett is playful, easy to hold and would makes someone a great first cat or even a companion for another cat. Scarlett has had some skin issues in recent months that require vet visits but it hasn't slowed her down one bit. Injections for this issue have not substantially effected the issue so we believe that it is stress related. It showed up after her cage mate, Scooter found a home. She would likely do best in a home with another cat.

Story
Hazel is a sweet adult kitty looking for a home where she is the only cat. PAWS-OK rescued her in the summer of 2021 with her litter of kittens from the MWC Shelter. She is a regular at our Meet & Greet events at A1 Pet Emporium due to her FIV status. She is very healthy, spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped. Hazel was tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV and is positive for the FIV virus. As such, exposure to other cats who are not also positive should be severely limited to prevent the spread of this immunodeficiency virus. Even though FIV+ cats can live very long happy, sickness free lives with proper and regular medical care, exposure to other cats who may carry other viruses can be problematic for Hazel whose immune response will become less effective, especially as Hazel ages. Fighting which includes deep penetrating bite wounds, may also transfer other cats to FIV. FIV is a species specific virus and not transferable to humans or canines. PAWS-OK recommends that cats with FIV live in homes as only cats or with cats that already have the virus. Hazel's FIV status can cause cat virus related ailments to manifest faster and be more severe that for cats who do not carry the virus so prompt veterinary care is required at the first sign of sickness.

Story
UPDATE 1/20/23 - Emmett has become a lot more comfortable in his foster home and allows his foster mom to pick him up for short times. However, he has been diagnosed with diabetes. He won't be available for adoption until we can stabilize his insulin dosage. He doesn't mind his twice daily injections at all! What a trooper! Emmett is a very sweet, shy boy who has had a hard life. He was rescued by another rescue when he was a young adult and had an operation on his back leg for a luxating patella. When he was placed in a foster home, a dog there attacked him and broke his leg. The vet wired it and he went to a different foster home where his foster mom adopted him. However she also had multiple dogs and so Emmett spent most of the next 7 years hiding under the bed during the day (when the dogs were around) only coming out at night to sleep with his favorite humans. In March, 2022 his dad suddenly passed and his mom was moved to a senior community so Emmett was relinquished to PAWS-OK to find him a new home. Emmett is a sweet boy who needs a quiet home with no dogs. It will take him a little to get adjusted but when he is comfortable he will make a great companion. He loves to be petted but is not fond of being picked up, either due to his multiple leg surgeries or because he was not handled a lot in his previous home.
