Story
Meet Nada! Nada is a 6-year-old boy who was brought here through our Humane Investigations department after dozens of cats were found being kept in deplorable conditions in a single home. Nada can be shy at first, so he needs a home that will be patient and caring. Nada would prefer to live with adult humans only. Nada likes treats and they are one of the ways to his heart. As Nada learns to warm up and trust humans, he would probably benefit from a cat-savvy adopter who know how to give him time and space. Interested in adopting Nada? Nada is one of Yana's "Special" Felines which means his requested adoption donation has been underwritten and he will be sent home with an individualized starter kit of supplies and other support based on his unique needs. He is currently residing in a foster home and would love to schedule an appointment to meet you! Story
Say a big welcome to Wonder! Wonder came to Animal Friends through our Humane Investigations Department. Our volunteers worked on gaining this shy guy's trust as he adapted to his new surroundings. Now, Wonder resides in a loving foster home where he gets to relax and be himself. Wonder needs a calm, adult only home where he will have time to adjust at his own pace. Can you imagine your life with Wonder? Wonder is one of our Extra Loved residents. Although all of our resident animals get plenty of love, many of them come from backgrounds that require them to need a little extra. Extra care. Extra attention. Extra patience. They've certainly been extra loved here! If you have room in your heart and your home to give one of our special animals, check with our Adoption team to learn about our Extra Loved program and if there is any additional support we may be able to offer alongside your adoption! Story
Meet Okra! This gorgeous 10 month old came to Animal Friends from our Humane Investigations Team for having too many cats within the home. She is the perfect example of a little sibling! She wants to follow you around, see what you are doing, and be friends with your friends. Okra loves people and cats! She has met dogs and is confused but interested in these weird, large cats. She is a playful young cat who is deceptively fast. (Bring her some wet cat food and see how fast she can move!) Okra had a rough start in life and has a long road ahead. Since being here at AF we noticed her wobbling everywhere she walked so after some testing our medical team diagnosed Okra with Myotonia Congenita - which is a hereditary neuromuscular disorder characterized by persistent contraction, particularly during muscle movement. Because of this Okra is looking for a home where they will be able to monitor her and give her the assistance she needs with using a litterbox, eating/drinking, and day to day activities. Her diagnosis however has not stopped her from being an absolute sweetheart who loves people and could potentially live with other cats. If you're interested in taking Okra home as a Hospice Adoption, reach out to us at the Adoption Department to learn what steps you need to take! Okra is one of Yana's "Special" Felines which means her requested adoption donation has been underwritten and she will be sent home with an individualized starter kit of supplies and other support based on her unique needs. Okra is one of Animal Friend's VIPs! Our VIP Adoption Special was recently created as a means to spotlight some of our residents that have spent longer than average times in the shelter due to their more unique needs. With the VIP Adoption Special we hope to provide as much communication and education about each individual VIP resident and their unique needs as possible, as well as additional resources where needed upon their eventual adoption. Thanks to Charlotte, Dave, and rescue dog Cooper Stephenson, the adoption donation has also been fully underwritten for these VIP residents. Interested in learning more? Ask our Adoption team about eh VIP Adoption Special and learn more about these wonderful residents! Fill out an application -> Thinkingoutsidethecage.org All of our animals are altered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines before being made available for adoption.

Story
Meet Popsicle! Popsicle came to Animal Friends through our HI Department in early November as part of a mass rescue group that included upwards of 64 cats. Whenever these cats all entered our shelter, many of them were extremely friendly and affectionate right off the bat, which is not the case in the majority of mass rescue situations! Since many of these cats came to us healthy and full of energy and playfulness, we were able to begin making groups of them available shortly after their initial intakes. Although many of these cats have continued to be extremely outgoing and affectionate, some of them are still more reserved and may not be as receptive right off the bat - because of this we recommend having an across-the-board perspective and understanding that due to the conditions these cats previously lived in that they may all adjust at different rates. Popsicle in general is a friendly yet timid boy who loves to play with shoe strings, or toy mice. He will be cautious in new environments, but once he knows you he will enjoy pets and being brushed. If you're interested in rescuing one of these absolutely lovely cats, please contact our Adoption Department and we would be thrilled to discuss them with you! Popsicle is one of Yana's "Special" Felines, meaning that his requested adoption donation is underwritten, and his new family will receive a starter kit of supplies and other support based on his unique needs.
