I came from an overcrowded shelter in Alabama, and I've brought my Southern charm with me. I love everyone I meet, especially my fellow canine friends. I'm always up for a good game of fetch or a romp in the park. At my young age, I am in my prime for training and socialization. I will make a loyal companion, a playmate, and most importantly, a best friend for an active home. I'm ready to bring joy and love to my forever home. Could that be with you? Submit an application today! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/  . Story
Ryan (A518527) 100% gentle giant. Ryan doesn’t pull on the leash and is so sweet. He is a medium to low energy companion that enjoys ear scratches. While walking him he stayed right by my side and was just happy being close. This big boy just wants to be loved and will be a very loyal companion. He`s a tank that just wants to cuddle up and enjoy his time.

Story
We rescued Sidney from a horrific shelter in Memphis, TN. When we got him, he was skin and bones and had some barrier aggression issues (who knows what horrors he suffered there) It didn't take long for Sidney to realize he was now safe and could start letting down his guard. Sidney Poitier has filled out and is truly a stunning dog. Sidney is about 2 years old, and is at his healthy weight of 80 lbs. Sidney is a very intelligent fellow, he learns quicky and is anxious to please. He will do well with a job and/or a lot of stimulation, long walks and hikes. He will do well with an experienced dog person. Sidney loves meeting new people. He has done well with large dogs he has met, however he is would not be good with small dogs or cats. Sidney does show barrier reactivity, however, when the barrier is removed (whether it is a crate, fence or car window) he show absolutely no issues. Because Sidney likes a lot of activity, he will need a securely fenced yard (must be a physical fence, not an electric or invisible system)  He is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and on monthly treatment for flea/ticks and heartworm prevention Sidney is currently located in the Middle TN area but transport is included in the adoption fee for approved adopter If you are interested in Sidney Poitier, email cox_ann@bellsouth.net for an application

Story
This is sweet Nikita, a rescue from Texas. She has been living with me for 2 years here in Baltimore and it has been an amazing experience! She is so full of energy, loves to fetch her ball, loves to go on walks, especially to the park, and loves to stalk squirrels! She is a little shy and skittish at first, but becomes comfortable around people, especially when treats are involved. Sadly, I am moving to Europe and cannot take her with me, so I will do my best to find her a loving, suitable home. Nikita is also very smart, very observant, and enjoys a lot of stimulation throughout the day, whether it's one on one time, car rides, walks, or chasing her ball. An ideal home for her would have access to a yard or a park nearby. It's also worth noting that because she is a mix, she is on the small side for a full-grown GSD. She is only 50lbs. People often mistake her for an adolescent, but she is three.
