Annie is a gorgeous 3-year-old female Dutch Shepherd mix. She is a very happy, sensitive, smart, and energetic dog. Annie is house trained. She knows the commands sir, lay down and stay. She walks fairly well on leash, she may pull a bit if there is a squirrel to investigate. She usually enjoys a good run at the dog park then she sleeps for the rest of the day. She is dog-selective but can be great with other dogs who are more submissive. Annie does have a high prey drive, so she shouldn't be with cars or small dogs. Annie is a very sweet dog who loves to cuddle and loves belly rubs. She does not bark unless she hears something suspicious outside. Annie does need a good fenced in yard or she will try to get out and find neighborhood buddies to play with. Annie would make a really wonderful companion and hiking dog. She weighs 75 pounds and is full grown. She is microchipped. Meet and greets are by appointment only with approved applicants. Adoption fee is waved but the application process is not. We believe you can always teach an ‘old’ dog new tricks so we highly recommend continued obedience training for this smart pup; it stimulates the dog's mind and establishes a good dog/adopter relationship. This pup, like all pups should be on heartworm preventative, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! Raven is my name and kind of like a raven, I am a 'loner'... except for the puppies i had when I arrived at the rescue... I was saved by a trapper on the streets, they weren't even there to save ME that day, but they did!!! I am obviously a beautiful girl, big and solid as well as black and brindly. I am a loving girl, in my own way... i lived on the streets for who knows how long and I honestly am not a cuddly girl or even a sit by your feet dog, YET... I have all kinds of love to give, you can see in my eyes that I have always dreamed of someone with the patience to love me for who I am and who I can be!! I am great on a leash and do love walking around and exploring. I am good with other dogs and likely would do best with another dog who is calm and confident with his/her family. We adopted King Henri a month ago from PG County Animal Services Division, which said he was 2 1/2 years old and great with other dogs. We have since learned from our veterinarian that he is 4-5 years old, and in our time with him we have also recognized that he is reactive around other dogs and would do best in a home without other pets. We went to a dog trainer who determined that given our ages and lack of strength we would not serve King well. We also worked with a behaviorist who acknowledged that with desensitizing and conditioning, King's reactivity is very manageable, especially for a younger owner than us. He is magnificent with people of all ages including infants and children, was clearly well trained to obey via words and hand signals, and is very loving always. He is very well behaved in the house and never vocal or barky. He eats well and takes medicine easily. We give him vitamins and heart worm meds and we had him neutered. He is doing very well post-surgery!

The rescue story of our perfect German Shepherd boy called Aries as told by his foster mom. He is about 6-7 years and just under 80 pounds: Aries is probably the happiest dog I’ve ever had! He has a lot to celebrate and I think he knows it… I heard that a GSD was at a full local “kill” shelter and made up my mind to rescue him when I heard he had 1 more day.When I went to the shelter to pick him up, his demeanor was to maintain his distance. You could tell he was confused and on his back foot about where he was and why. Then he got a whiff of my farm boots and the great outdoors and his expression changed.Upon arrival at my farm, his personality came alive. I turned him loose in a big grassy field and he ran and sniffed and explored, always coming back to check in with me to make sure I was ok with his enthusiasm!!Since that day he has never looked back. The freedom and carefree abandon he is experiencing is evident in his happy eyes and tail wags.His best friends are two Heelers who he frolics with for hours. His most favorite toy is a big blue ball that he happily plays with when everyone else is resting. Every morning and evening when I feed him he expresses gratitude with wags and a loving lick or two to my face.The best situation for him would be a home with a big yard and lots of room to run and play. He is is a mature and settled, calm dog who has thrived here with me and his new dog friends. He prefers no cat friends!
