Story
Darcy's Story Meet Darcy , a beautiful 4 year young girl with a heart as warm as the island she came from. Darcy was rescued from the Cayman Islands, and her sister Danielle has already found her forever home through us. Now it’s Darcy’s turn to shine and finally get the family she deserves. We’re told she’s a Dutch Shepherd/Collie mix, and she has the perfect blend of sweetness and playfulness. Darcy absolutely LOVES to play ball , she’ll chase it, bring it back, and be ready for the next throw with that happy, eager sparkle in her eyes. She also enjoys doing zoomies around the yard and then settling in for snuggles. Darcy has a quiet, gentle personality that makes her easy to love. She’s wonderful with children, great with other dogs, and happiest when she’s close to her people. If you’re looking for a loving, playful, and devoted companion, Darcy just might be your perfect match. If you’d like to give this Cayman sweetheart her forever home, please submit an application at almosthomeli.org.

NOT DOING WELL IN THE SHELTER Attention Shepard Lovers- Shango (Chase Shango) is a Dutch Sheppard who needs to be rehomed. Being surrendered to shelter February 3, 2026 **1 YEAR OLD** Dutch Shepard ***MALE* 50 POUNDS**Neutered** Meet Shango — the brilliant, loyal boy looking for his forever home Handsome Shango’s dad is moving and sadly cannot take him to his new home. This incredible boy deserves a special place to land. Shango is exceptionally smart — he understands three languages (English, French, and Creole) and knows over 15 commands, with plenty of room and eagerness to learn more. He loves making his person happy and thrives on connection, praise, and companionship. He’s playful, loving, and wonderful with other dogs, though not a fan of cats. He walks beautifully on a leash and absolutely loves going on his daily outings. If you know shepherds, you already know how intelligent and devoted they are — and Shango is no exception. What he wants most is a human of his own to love. In return, he’ll give you unwavering loyalty, joy, and a best friend for life. Open your heart to Shango. He will love you forever. Shango* **1 YEAR OLD** Dutch Shepard ***MALE* 50 POUNDS**Neutered**

Story
Meet Pete! Dutch Shepherd/Black Labrador Retriever/terrier mix, only 2 years old, 60 lbs, and filled with joyous energy! Pete enjoys playing with toys and exploring the backyard. He would do best as an only pet in a low-traffic adult home, as he can get overstimulated with too much going on. Pete would be perfect for an individual or couple who enjoys home life with their new best friend! To apply, go to lendapawinc.com/adoption

Story
Meet Sophie: A 2–3 Year-Old Mix Looking for a Forever Home-we’re not sure the mix, but one vet thought Coonhound. We were guessing Mastiff, but she isn’t huge though. Maybe when all filled in, 80-85 lbs. Sophie is a courageous and affectionate dog who recently traveled from Texas to find her. Age/Breed:** 2–3 years old Location:** Bozrah, CT History:** Has undergone heartworm treatment and completed obedience training Personality:** Sweet, eager to please, and full of potential with the right guidance What Sophie Needs in a Home Large-breed experienced adopter: ** Understanding decompression and how to work with a rescued dog helps set them up for success with their new family Kids: Sophie is really good with the children in her foster home (ages 9 and 11). Note: Any new dog should have supervised introductions with kids in the home. Other dogs:** Gets along with larger dogs with proper introductions. This standard applies to every adopted dog. We do not recommended cats or small dogs for Sophie. Intro/Decompression:** A patient, slow-introductions approach will bring out the best in Sophie. Important Notes Protections and patience are key. Following a decompression plan will help Sophie settle into her new routine and become the best dog in your home. Meet Tommy & Baby — a bonded pair searching for their fresh start together. ❤️ These two were part of a local rescue our team facilitated in Queens and have come such a long way since arriving in our care. Both are about 3 years young, good with other dogs, and great with children of all ages. Tommy and Baby are super fun, active dogs who also love to cuddle and be close to their people. They both have silly, playful personalities and truly enjoy life now that they feel safe and loved. Tommy is a handsome, confident boy who loves attention and adventure. Baby has made incredible progress and is no longer nervous or fearful. She has blossomed into a happy, playful girl who loves treats, affection, and showing off her goofy side. Because of their past, Tommy and Baby still need a very special adopter. We believe they were previously abused and mostly lived outside, so they will need continued structure, guidance, and understanding as they continue adjusting to life in a home environment. We are looking for someone with strong breed and rescue-dog experience who can provide them with the stability and leadership they deserve. These two truly bring out the best in each other, which is why we are committed to placing them together as a bonded pair. If you are interested in meeting Tommy & Baby, please submit an adoption application directly through our website. Please note: applications without proper breed and overall dog experience will not be considered.
