Story
From Scooby's Foster Angie, this is what you can expect from life with Scooby. "I am a first-time foster and Scooby has been a very good boy! He is staying for a long weekend and we are on day 3 already. First thing that I noticed about Scooby is that he is a sweetheart and so curious about everything. We have been taking two walks a day which seems to keep him satisfied. He is learning new sounds from cars, trucks, and motor bikes in my neighborhood,, so I worked out some tricks to keep him calm when they are close. He wants to say hi to all the dogs, but he is still learning and needs to build his confidence in this area - a very quick learner though! Scooby loves to smell and investigate everything. He also knows to check in with me when he gets excited, which is progress. I work from home, so his first day he chilled with me all day. No whining of any kind. He just wanted the occasional scratch. Bonus: He is crate trained and goes to bed like a prince! I've shared a lot of photos so you can see how sweet of a boy he is. He cuddles, likes play time, and chills on the back patio like a dream."

Story
Moet is a 4-year-old Dutch Shepherd mix with a thoughtful, observant nature and a heart that’s still learning to trust the world. At 64 pounds, she does well with other dogs and may feel most comfortable alongside a confident canine companion to help guide her. Moet is still building confidence with leash walking, and it’s unclear whether this is due to shelter stress or limited prior experience. Because of this, she may do best in a calm, quiet home with a securely fenced yard where she can safely decompress and enjoy outdoor time without pressure. With patience, consistency, and a gentle approach, Moet has the potential to blossom into a deeply loyal companion—she just needs a little time to find her footing.

Story
Leggs is a resilient 32 pound, 10 month old pup working hard to become part of the world around him. While he’s naturally timid because he was feral the first three months of his life, he’s been bravely approaching new challenges and turned into the most amazing dog at home. Leggs is very intelligent and sensitive. He’s a bit cuddler and loves wrapping himself up in a blanket and hunkering down with his soft toys. He’s fantastic on a leash and incredibly gentle with myself, my children, and other dogs (including my super senior). He is crate trained, goes to the door when he needs to go potty, leash trained, and doing well on basic obedience and threshold training. He’s done well on trips to the park, long-leash walking on nature trails, and trips to pet-friendly stores such as Petco. His perfect home would be one that understands his initial need to decompress. After that, you can expect the most loyal and intuitive companion. He is not a fan of cats so no kitties please. Leggs is being fostered in Texas but can be transported out of state. You can apply directly for Leggs by clicking the Apply for Adoption button on the linked page. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-835 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy's team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle your new family member into your home. Story
Meet King — the total package wrapped up in one incredibly polite, gentle soul. If you’ve ever wished for a calm, loyal companion who’s happy just being by your side, King may be your perfect match.King is truly the definition of a gentleman. He’s exceptionally well-mannered, quiet, easygoing, and adaptable no matter what the day brings. Whether he’s strolling politely on leash through the neighborhood, relaxing during a car ride with the air conditioning blowing on his face, or patiently waiting beside you at a coffee shop or lunch spot, King handles every situation with calm confidence and grace. On outings, King has been nothing short of amazing. He’s enjoyed walks around St. Edward’s University and Richard Moya Park, taking in all the sniffs while staying perfectly respectful of people, kids, bikes, squirrels, and other distractions. Volunteers consistently rave about his incredible leash manners — he never pulls and happily keeps pace right by your side. After a couple miles of walking, he’s more than ready to curl up for a cozy nap in the backseat.King also happens to be the perfect passenger. He jumps right into the car without hesitation, settles in immediately, and quietly relaxes for the ride. One of his favorite simple joys? Feeling the cool A/C on his face while cruising around town.He has a sweet playful side too and enjoys toys, pup cups, tasty treats, and affection from his people. King leans gently into pets and accepts treats with the softest manners, always careful and polite. He’s content simply being near you and never demands attention — just a steady, loving presence who adjusts beautifully to whatever kind of day you want to have.Volunteers describe King as a “rare gem” and a “fully trained gentleman through and through,” and it’s easy to see why. He’s calm, affectionate, respectful in public, quiet as can be, and genuinely one of the most well-behaved dogs they’ve ever met.King would thrive in a home looking for an easygoing best friend to join them on walks, errands, coffee runs, and lazy afternoons alike. If you’re searching for a loyal companion with a gentle heart and impeccable manners, come meet King — you just might fall in love. Story
Shadow is a purebred German Shepherd with AKC paperwork who came with our home. The previous owners were breeders and had kept him mostly outside. When they moved they didn’t want him, so we took him in and have had him for about five years.Shadow is a goofy, sweet dog who bonds closely with his person and likes watching over the house and yard. He’s actually pretty low-energy and spends most of the day relaxing. He enjoys playing keep-away.He is house trained, great on a leash, and naturally heels when walking. He knows sit and waits for the cue “good dogs” before eating. We are rehoming because he does not get along with our other male dog. We’ve managed it by keeping them separated, but with a baby on the way that’s no longer going to be realistic. Shadow cannot live with any male dogs or cats. A home with a yard and either no pets or a well-socialized female dog would be ideal. We have a female dog as well and they get along great.
