I came from an overcrowded shelter in Alabama, and I've brought my Southern charm with me. I love everyone I meet, especially my fellow canine friends. I'm always up for a good game of fetch or a romp in the park. At my young age, I am in my prime for training and socialization. I will make a loyal companion, a playmate, and most importantly, a best friend for an active home. I'm ready to bring joy and love to my forever home. Could that be with you? Submit an application today! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/  . Story
Annie is a gorgeous 3-year-old female Dutch Shepherd mix. She is a very happy, sensitive, smart, and energetic dog. Annie is house trained. She knows the commands sir, lay down and stay. She walks fairly well on leash, she may pull a bit if there is a squirrel to investigate. She usually enjoys a good run at the dog park then she sleeps for the rest of the day. Annie is great with the 1, 2, and 5-year-old children she loves with. She is dog-selective but can be great with other dogs who are more submissive. Annie does have a high prey drive, so she shouldn't be with cars or small dogs. Annie is a very sweet dog who loves to cuddle and loves belly rubs. She does not bark unless she hears something suspicious outside. Annie does need a good fenced in yard or she will try to get out and find neighborhood buddies to play with. Annie would make a really wonderful companion and hiking dog. She weighs 75 pounds and is full grown. She is microchipped. Meet and greets are by appointment only with approved applicants. Adoption fee is waved but the application process is not. We believe you can always teach an ‘old’ dog new tricks so we highly recommend continued obedience training for this smart pup; it stimulates the dog's mind and establishes a good dog/adopter relationship. This pup, like all pups should be on heartworm preventative, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption form, downloadable from our website: https://www.lastchanceanimalrescue.org/adoption-request-form/ and return it per instructions. Ryan (A518527) 100% gentle giant. Ryan doesn’t pull on the leash and is so sweet. He is a medium to low energy companion that enjoys ear scratches. While walking him he stayed right by my side and was just happy being close. This big boy just wants to be loved and will be a very loyal companion. He`s a tank that just wants to cuddle up and enjoy his time.

Story
We had an incredible foster family step up and give Alfredo a much-needed break from the shelter. Thanks to them, we have so much information on who this goofy, sensitive pup is in a home. However, a foster home is not a permanent solution, and while we are grateful that Alfredo got a break from the kennel, the foster home was only temporary, and Alfredo is now back at the shelter, desperately looking for an adoptive home. What we learned about Alfredo in a home:Alfredo does well in his crate and will sleep in it overnight. Alfredo is housetrained and quickly caught on to the walk/potty routine in his foster home.Alfredo loves fetch. He enjoys his snuggles and being near his people. In just a few weeks Alfredo has learned – sit, down, heel, touch, paw, roll over and wait.Alfredo is super on the leash and enjoyed going on runs with his foster humans. He is also super in the car for car rides!Alfredo needs a routine and thrives when he has figured out what the schedule is and what he can expect.Alfredo needs daily long walks/play sessions along with mental energy outlets like training, chews and puzzle toys too.An ideal home for Alfredo will have no other dogs and as a rowdy, young and large puppy (80lbs+) who loves to romp and jump and put EVERYTHING in his mouth, including little fingers, we are recommending he goes to a home with older children if there are any in the home. While we know he will thrive with training, we want to place him where he can succeed from the start.Alfredo’s fosters state: Alfredo’s a huge fan of the bones! He’s really getting the hang of ‘touch’ and slowly introducing ‘roll over’ - he’s uber smart and quick to catch on….We notice he wags his tail a lot more now compared to the first week when he got here.. He ‘kennels’ on command and doesn’t counter surf (despite being tall enough to see the food). Alfredo loves his routines and cuddles! He will need to have his ‘person’ in his future forever home.Alfredo cannot stay at the shelter, as he is incredibly stressed here, but unfortunately, we receive very little community interest in adult pets who are not housed at LCAS, and did not receive any adoption inquiries while he was in foster care. Now that he is here, with better visibility, we would love to find him an adopter to call his own, could that be you? We are open 11am-6pm every day for adoptions.Alfredo`s adopter will recieve a free month of tr
