IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS LISTING ON PETFINDER OR ADOPT-A-PET, please visit: Caninesandkittiesrescue.org to access adoption requirements, more information and pictures. AVAILABLE FOR OUR FOSTER TO ADOPT PROGRAM Meet Jake! Jake is about 1 year old and weighs around 40 lbs. We believe he may be a Malinois/German Shepherd mix (just a guess!). Jake is a happy, eager-to-please boy with a sweet personality. He can be a bit on the nervous side at times, so he will need an adopter who has experience with Shepherd-type breeds and understands their needs. Jake is very smart and highly food motivated, and his foster mom is already working with him on commands. Because of his intelligence and drive, Jake could really excel as a sporting dog or in activities like agility, obedience, or other canine sports. Jake absolutely loves other dogs and would do best in a home with another young, playful dog who is his size or larger. He can be a bit pushy during play, so a confident playmate who enjoys rough-and-tumble fun would be ideal. Jake has met young children, but they seem to make him nervous. Because of this, we feel he would do best in a home with children 11 years and older, if any. As a working-breed dog, Jake will need an adopter committed to continuing his training and providing both mental and physical exercise. A home with a securely fenced yard is required so Jake can safely run, play, and burn off his energy. Jake is both house trained and crate trained and is ready to find a forever home that will give him the structure, activity, and love he deserves. 🐾 Jake is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. The Adoption Fee is $375.00 ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

Story
Foxie is a black and brindle shepherd mix, around two and a half years old and 47 pounds. When she arrived at the shelter, her body showed that she had very recently had puppies. We never learned what became of them. We only know that Foxie came to us having already survived something hard, and that she has spent more than fifteen months waiting for someone to choose her. After all that time, Foxie finally got a shot at living in a foster home, and she is doing so well. She mastered house training almost immediately. She settled into the rhythm of a house like she had been in one all along. And she is a snuggler. Given the choice between the far end of the couch and the spot right beside you, she takes the spot beside you every time. Foxie is smart, eager to learn, and deeply connected to her people. On walks she checks in with her person constantly. She does not just want to explore the world, she wants to experience it with you. She is also easy to satisfy. A daily walk, something to work her brain, and time on the couch next to you covers everything she needs. Her foster home also taught us that she is great with submissive dogs, the calm kind who will not get in her face. She has been gentle with the children she has met. She has not been tested with cats. Her veterinarian believes her slightly different gait is the result of an old injury. She is pain free and it does not bother her day to day. It does mean she is not a high mileage dog, and that suits her just fine. Fifteen months is a long time to wait. Foxie is ready whenever you are. Story
Raven is my name and kind of like a raven, I am a 'loner'... except for the puppies i had when I arrived at the rescue... I was saved by a trapper on the streets, they weren't even there to save ME that day, but they did!!! I am obviously a beautiful girl, big and solid as well as black and brindly. I am a loving girl, in my own way... i lived on the streets for who knows how long and I honestly am not a cuddly girl or even a sit by your feet dog, YET... I have all kinds of love to give, you can see in my eyes that I have always dreamed of someone with the patience to love me for who I am and who I can be!! I am great on a leash and do love walking around and exploring. I am good with other dogs and likely would do best with another dog who is calm and confident with his/her family. I am so so ready for you, I have the shepherd double coat so I will shed in your house, must have a great vacuum cleaner and tolerance of hair :) Local adoption fee is $300(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)
