Story
Meet Jimmy, the best boy in his litter! Jimmy is a feist/black mouth cur mix and weighs 25 pounds. He was born in late December or early January and was found, along with two littermates, along a railroad track. Jimmy took to people and is a calm boy who loves to play but doesn't really rough and tumble. He is well behaved in his kennel and took well to house training. He sits calmly at my feet while I prepare everyone's food. Jimmy is up to date on shots, neutered, and microchipped. This sweet boy has been a joy to foster and will make his new family very happy. If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adoption-application PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT NORTH TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Our rescue pets are fostered in Southern foster homes (unless otherwise stated) and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Our pets are adoptable in Alabama and New England States. Our adoption fee includes transport fee, spay/neuter, current vaccinations, deworming, heart worm test for animals over 7 months old, all necessary vetting and an interstate health certificate. Once an application is received, our team is happy to answer all of your questions and send additional pictures and videos. Thank you for thinking rescue!

Story
T-Bo is a rescue I've had for a little over 2 yrs. He is 3yrs old, needs to run so fenced in yard would be ideal. He is great with older kids about 4 and up but not so much with toddlers. However, he is protective of small children around men. He is very quiet and calm in the house unless he sees another dog walking by. Also, he will escape (due to needing to run) whenever he has the chance!!! We moved and no longer have fenced in yard so this has become a problem. Was fostered with to dogs and did great and did great at dog park, however, when walking, for some reason he gets aggressive with certain dogs, which could be result of him being attacked when fostered. He doesn't like car rides and is fearful of garbage trucks and fire engines. Have not found harness he can't get out of! T-Bo is quite the lovebug and enjoys sleeping on owner's (or anyone's) bed!

Story
Male, approx. 8 years old, 23 lbs Personality: Calm, snuggler, and smart. Omar is a sweet, snuggly old man who has taken quickly to his new life in the city. His favorite activity is to curl up in your lap and get pets, and he will happily sit with you through work, TV, or any other sedentary activities if it means cuddles! Though his crate is a new experience for Omar, he happily sleeps in his crate overnight and will even put himself in his crate to nap. Omar's love for food and treats makes training a breeze, and he has taken particularly quickly to his snuffle mat! While he is still working on house training (a totally new concept for Omar), Omar enjoys his luxuriously slow walks - the more time for sniffing, the better. Could this old man be your perfect companion? Apply today to meet Omar! ________________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a DOG: http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adoptable-dogs.html Interested in saving more lives? Foster a dog today! Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs.

DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Pretty Gabbi is 6-1/2yo, weighs 25lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, but is not microchipped.  Through no fault of her own, as she's a great dog, her guardian has made the difficult decision to rehome her.  "Gabbi knows sit and for some reason she understands 'you can come' when I'm leaving the house.  She LOVES riding in the car and is very disappointed when she can't come.  Gabbi is so loving.  She loves to cuddle.  Her spot is right next to me on the bed.  She loves giving kisses. And, she will howl now and then when she's excited.  It's so cute !!!!   For a 6-7yo dog, she seems very young and energetic.  She could use a little more training.  I have to train her alone because she can't focus with the other dogs around." Gabbi's guardian states why she's made the difficult decision to rehome her:  "I have six dogs plus my daughter's chihuahua - so a total of seven.  My health isn't the best, and I'm finding seven dogs to be too much energy in the house - even though they are like therapy pets and I enjoy them tremendously." Gabbi's guardian states the following regarding children:  Gabbi has been around children, ages 0-16, in her previous home, so her guardian recommends her living with children, stating "Gabbi has not been around children since I got her in August, but her previous owner (who I'm still in touch with) says Gabbi has been around many children from newborn to age 16 and she was great with them.  The previous owner says that if the children pulled her tail or got too rough with her, Gabbi would just run away." Gabbi's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Gabbi lives with 6 other dogs, so her guardian recommends her living with dogs, stating "Gabbi does great with all of our dogs.  She can be a little bossy with them, but she gets along great with them." Gabbi's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Gabbi lives with a cat, but her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats, stating "Gabbi loves to chase and bark at our cat, but she has never hurt the cat." Gabbi's guardian describes her as: Very active Couch potato Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Independent Protective Always at your side Indoor dog Gabbi's guardian describes her ideal future home:  "She would love to be in a family who will give a lot of love and affection.  She would probably do better without cats and probably fewer dogs than I have." Rehoming Fee:  None Location:  Mechanicsville, MD ***** ADOPTION PROCESS  1. If you are interested in ADOPTING me, please CLICK HERE:  ADOPT ME 2. When your application is received, a Placement Manager will do a basic screening. Applications will be forwarded to the owner for further screening and continuation in the adoption process.  3. Please give us 48-72 hours for a Placement Manager to respond after you submit your application. If it has been longer than that, please email:  rescuewellrehome@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE: We provide ALL of the information we have on this pet, here on this page, in its entirety from the pet's owner.
