Story
Hi there! I'm Milo, a small dog with a big personality. I'm a bundle of joy and energy, perfect for any active family. Anyone lucky enough to know me always ends up smiling when we spend time together. I love playing one-on-one with another dog, but I prefer not to be part of a large group. One of the wonderful volunteers here has taken me out a few times and says I'm a wonderful dog. Sometimes, I get a little excited when getting my harness on, but once we're out on the trails, I walk great. I love it when the wind blows and I can catch the scent of something in the breeze. I listen well and don't pull on the leash. I could walk for miles and enjoy every moment of the fresh air and smells. I'm a very sweet little dog, and I'm looking for a family who can match my energy and give me the love and training I deserve. Come meet me, and let's see if we're a perfect match!

Story
Meet Scout! This sweet boy was abandoned by someone in a Good Samaritan’s backyard — the family woke up one morning and found him there. So they took him in and started looking for his family to no avail, but they quickly discovered what a good boy he is. He has wonderful house manners, rides great in the car, and was an instant hit with their three dogs and kids. When no one responded to claim him, they contacted Worthy Dog for help. Scout has been in his foster home for almost two months now. On intake, we discovered he was heartworm positive, so he likely lived as an outside dog and had owners who did not protect him. Thankfully, that life is well behind him now. He’s done well in his foster home, living as part of a pack. He’s crate-trained and housetrained and has never had an accident in his foster home. He is a fun-loving, confident, active boy who loves everyone he meets and is a champion cuddler. His foster mom describes him as a love bug. ****** We checked in with his foster mom, Renee, for an update: “Scout is such a happy dog, full of energy, and very loving. He and Ryder got along great from the very beginning. They both love to run and chase squirrels in the yard. Scout will even run the fence and play with the neighbor’s dog. He is an active boy who would do well with a pack or as an only dog. A fenced yard would be the best fit for him as he loves to run. I harness him for walks, and he does better than with just his collar…less pulling. He still needs some work on his leash skills and is just excited to go and do! He’s only 22lbs, so very controllable. Scout has never met a stranger and is a very friendly pup. He’ll make a great family dog and is good around kids. He has met my grandkids many times. He loves his toys and will play fetch with the kids in the yard. He gets so excited when they visit, he will get the zoomies while playing and is pure joy. He may jump in excitement when he meets you, but we are working on a firm “no”, “down” and sit. He’s doing well with his commands. This sweet boy is very affectionate and loves to cuddle. The closer he is to me the happier he is. He will sit beside me and would love to sit in my lap always if I’d let him. He is crate-trained but needs a treat and encouragement to go in. I only crated him a few times and started leaving him out for short errands. I leave him out all the time now. I trust him and he’s had no issues in the house. He usually sleeps on the couch or watches for me at the front window. Overall he is a good boy with a lot of love and energy. He would do well with an active family that wants a dog who can join them in social activities. He’s very adaptable and just wants to be part of the mix.” ****** Scout has been treated for heartworm and is ready to start his new life. He needs a fun, active family and would LOVE a doggy playmate in his home. He’s confident enough to be an only dog but needs a family committed to his playtime and exercise.  Apply today!    BREED ESTIMATE: Feist/Terrier Mix GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  22 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE: ~  5 years COAT TYPE: Short coat ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/neutered/microchipped - treated for heartworm LOCATION:  Alexandria, VA   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. Story
Female, 2 years old, 30 lbs Personality: snuggler, playful, energetic, goofy/funny, and affectionate. Meet Lanie, a lively and loving pup, with a personality as big as her adorable ears! This spirited girl is always on the move, eager to join you for a day filled with play and adventure. Whether it's a long walk in the park or a game of fetch, Lanie is up for anything that gets her tail wagging. Lanie plays well with the resident dog in her foster home and is easily redirected during playtime. When the excitement winds down, she transforms into the perfect snuggle buddy, ready to curl up next to you and shower you with affection. But it's not all about fun-Lanie is a smart cookie, too! She's nearly mastered potty training and responds well to words like "sit", "down", and "here." Being a foodie, she benefits from a slow feeder during mealtime. Plus, Lanie understands directions in both English and Spanish! She's gentle when taking treats and loves playing with her toys. Her favorite comfort shows are Bluey and Scooby-Doo! With her playful antics and loving cuddles, Lanie is a delightful companion looking for an adopter who shares her zest for life. Are you ready to welcome this energetic bundle of joy into your home? Apply today to meet Lanie! _______________________________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

Story
Meet Nori! Nori is about 1 1/2 years old and weighs about 35 pounds. We think she looks like a Shepherd/Fiest mix (just a guess). Nori is the sweetest girl and loves to play with the resident dog in her foster home. Nori is athletic and playful and ready for any adventure. She has the most gorgeous fur too! Nori would do best in a home where someone is around a good portion of the day. Nori is spayed, is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and microchipped. ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from Canine and Kitties Rescue*** The adoption fee for this dog is $375.00, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

Stella is a bit shy as she's learning about her new surroundings, but she is sweet, and loves to be held and cuddled. For a young dog, she's very calm and easy to walk on leash. She also seems to get along with other dogs. Her forever home would be best in a quiet neighborhood where she can take some time to relax and get comfortable. Come meet Stella and fall in love with this little cutie!
