I’m Pacaya, an athletic, happy, and downright charismatic girl with a heart full of joy and paws made for exploring. I’m friendly, engaging and I has got a gorgeous coat that goes from a warm tan to a rich red when the sun hits me just right. I'm always ready for the next adventure — especially if it involves hiking, swimming and exploring(yes, I take the scenic route whenever possible). If you love the outdoors, we’re already best friends. Trails? I’m in. Lakes? I’m already splashing. Hills? I’ll meet you at the top, tail wagging proudly. I thrive with an active person or family who enjoys getting out and doing things — I make an excellent hiking buddy, jogging partner, or “let’s-see-what’s-over-there” companion. But don’t let my athletic side fool you — once the adventure is done, I’m all about the wind-down life. Belly rubs, ear scratches, and lounging with my people are absolute perfection. Meet Pepper, a 10-pound “little bit of dynamite” in the cutest, tiniest package. She’s a young female short-coat Chihuahua (white) who is all heart with people—sweet, submissive, and the kind of pup who would crawl into your lap and stay there if you let her. She’s about 2 years old, spayed, and ready to trade survival-mode for the good life with you. Pepper is a total marshmallow with humans, including kids, and she loves close companionship. She came in as a stray and has clearly had to fend for herself at times. Her “I’ve got this” bossy spirit is why when it comes to other dogs, Pepper can coexist in the right setup, but she won’t want to share her personal space, kennel, or food with other dogs. This guarding behavior is why we do not kennel her with other dogs, but do allow her to play in the yard with her canine peers. We think she’ll do best as an only dog or in a home with an experienced adopter who will respect her boundaries with other dogs and who will help her keep the peace through slow introductions. If what you want is a small dog who is devoted to her person, wants to be close, and will happily be your snuggle sidekick, Pepper is your girl. Pepper is located in Hondo, Texas. Meet Dolly, she was found at the Westlaco shelter with a sever case of mange. She is approx. 9 lbs. and around a year old. She has a slight limp you can't really notice unless you are looking for it. We're told it's an old pelvic injury that has healed. Dolly is a little shy at first but once she knows you, she's a loving and friendly dog with a heart as big as the great outdoors! She is a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day and will bring warmth and joy to her new family. Please check out her video to see more of this lovely little dog. She is currently Chagas positive but is being treated for it. She is just the sweetest little girl who deserves a chance at her furever home. Dolly is located at our shelter near San Antonio, TX and is available with approved application and confirmed adoption. She is spayed, up-to-date on all shots, micro-chipped and her adoption fee is $325.
