Story
Maddie is apx 4 years old and weighs 7.5 pounds. A nice couple found her on New Year’s Eve. She must’ve gotten spooked by the fireworks and ran from wherever she was. The couple posted her everywhere to try and find her owners . Maddie had several dog bites on her so she must have been attacked by dogs while on the run. This was all very traumatizing for her. I am very surprised they even caught her because Maddie is extremely skittish. She has tried to nip a few times out of fear. Maddie is wonderful with dogs and cats, absolutely NO children. Maddie warms up after a few days to her persons and will allow you to pick her up and cuddle her and pet her, she just needs some time to decompress. She did okay at the vets office, but we did have to burrito her in a towel. Maddie is just extremely scared, once she gets comfortable with her surroundings and her people she is 110% love bug and would like a warm, calm, loving, patient, mature, home to spend her years in. Maddie does not appear to do well with change. A fenced yard would be best unless someone is willing to use pee pads, only until she is comfortable and confident walking on leash and very well fitted harness with her person. She never barks, never makes a sound, uses potty pads, loves bedding and blankets and naps and attention once she is comfortable with you. She is a very demure and shy baby but she will blossom with every kiss, and cuddle and positive praise **PLEASE READ TO THE END FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION.** If you would like to adopt, please fill out an application at www.TexasChihuahuaRescue.org. Story
West has many other names we call her, such as Chirp, because she does not bark she actually makes this odd chirping sound, That is very high-pitched. Luckily, she does not do it often 😂 We also call her long legs Louise West was rescued from the Rio Grande Valley. She was found as a stray. West is approximately one to 1 1/2 years old. And a tall lanky apx 15 pounds. West is a bit shy at first but quickly warms up and she does have a good bit of energy and silliness. She is a happy dog and she LOVES other dogs. She definitely needs a home with other dogs, or an adopter willing to take her to dog parks or doggy daycare. She loves to play with other dogs and gets very excited to meet new dogs. She is an all-around fantastic gal with a happy and joyful demeanor. **PLEASE READ TO THE END FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION.** If you would like to adopt, please fill out an application at www.TexasChihuahuaRescue.org. Story
Shruggs is apx 5 years young and a short stout 11 pounds. He has a deformed left limb , this is a birth defect. He still gets along just fine. We got Shruggs from a pretty bad situation and he came in with a broken soul but day by day he is getting better, lifting his head a little higher, and seems that every day his sun shines a tad bit brighter but he is still a work in progress and needs a loving and patient adopter. He is never ever aggressive and does not bite but he is timid and shy. Loves other animals but no small children please living in the home, I think the visits from toddlers would be fine as he is not an aggressive dog, but he is very quiet and submissive and I think living in a very loud home 24 seven may be too much for shruggs. Here is what his foster has to say : Update on Shrugs: Learning to walk on a leash, does stairs really well up and down, likes to run, is a couch potato at heart, sleeps in kennel, he mostly potties outside I leave the back door open, he had an accident yesterday but was my fault I closed the door after I went in the backyard. He follows me around all day, loves to cuddle. His nervous tinkling has pretty much stopped. He is sweet, gentle and a cuddle bug. He does really well with other gentle dogs. **PLEASE READ TO THE END FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION.** If you would like to adopt, please fill out an application at www.TexasChihuahuaRescue.org. Please contact Joanie (hchappytales@aol.com) for more information about this pet. Please apply online at http://texasgreatdane.org/adoption-application/       ** This dog is in a foster home in San Antonio, TX. Prospective adopters must be able to travel to San Antonio to complete the adoption process.  Please apply online at http://texasgreatdane.org/adoption-application/ ** Zizzle is an affectionate 9 pound Chihuahua and Terrier mix.  She is great with her foster mom but is afraid of strangers.  Since we were told she is fearful, her foster mom brought her home from transport in her crate. Once home the crate door was left open and Zizzle soon approached her new foster mom and wanted to be held. She wants to be in her lap as much as possible and to sleep next to her. She will need to go to a stable, relatively quiet home in order to be happy and feel secure. We are guessing her age to be around 6 years old as she prefers cuddle time to play time.  If you want a companion for spending time tv watching or just hanging out, she would be a great sidekick.  She is potty trained (can use a dog door), quiet, and gets along with other dogs.  (She really does appreciate having a pee pad available for the times she doesn't want to go outside or when you are too busy to take her!)   When she feels safe, she is so laid back that she would probably be fine with cats too.  Just give her a little time to trust you and you will have such a loving companion. Please understand you are committing to providing a good home for her entire life (up to 15+ years or more.) You must be committed to housebreaking, age-appropriate enrichment and exercise, leash training, grooming needs, and positive socialization. Her adoption fee is $250. This includes her spay surgery, rabies vaccination, Nobivac® Canine 1-DAPP vaccination, Nobivac® Intra-Trac 3 vaccination, Drontal® Plus, IDEXX SNAP® 4Dx Plus Test, Tri-Heart® Plus chewable tablet, 24PetWatch® microchip, and leash and collar. Please be aware that puppies and small breed dogs do get adopted quickly so interested parties are encouraged to apply online at www.saspca.org. Please ensure your application is complete before submitting. We do verify property ownership, landlord references, apartment/HOA restrictions, veterinary references, and criminal histories. Our adoption events are some Saturdays at Petco located in the Northwoods Shopping Center at 18138 San Pedro Ave, San Antonio TX 78232.  Event hours are 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Please check with us on which Saturdays we will be there. Story
Hey there, I'm Amelia, and I'm excited to share my journey with you. As you can see from my picture, I was quite nervous when I first arrived, but let me tell you, I've come a long way since then. I'm already showing everyone my true colors, and I can't wait to find a family who will appreciate my happy and silly personality. Change can be a bit intimidating for me, and it takes me some time to adjust to new people and situations. But once I feel safe and secure, I'm ready to explore the world with all the curiosity and wonder that fills my heart. I just need a patient and understanding family who will give me the time and space I need to build my confidence.I'm eager to learn and grow, and with the right guidance, I know I can become a brave and confident dog. A family who will gently introduce me to new experiences and help me overcome my fears would be a dream come true. It's important for me to have the freedom to explore at my own pace, as that's when I feel most comfortable and can truly shine.Despite my initial nervousness, I have so much love to give!
