Story
Meet Bruno! Age/Birthdate: 04/12/2024 * Current Weight: 43lbs * Fully Vetted: Yes * Adoption Fee: Was sponsored by a generous person Any Special Medical or Special Needs: Yes, Bruno will need pregabalin for life due to pain management from being hit by a car. He has some scar tissue that wrap the nerves near his sacrum that may cause pain when he's very active. He takes 1 pill a day and the med cost with Walmart is about 20$ every few months Temperament with: Dogs: Great! Cats: He has met cats and has done well. Children list specific ages: He LOVES everyone but would be best in a home with kiddos 10 and up as has some typical puppy behaviors Strangers: Amazing! He has never met a stranger in his life! Training Needs: Crate Trained: Yes Potty Trained: Yes Bruno is a MIRACLE Boxer/Lab born around 04/12/2024 weighing in at 43 pounds! Bruno isn’t just a dog — he’s a miracle on four legs. This sweet, goofy boy came into rescue after being hit by a car, leaving him with multiple pelvic and leg fractures. He was in excruciating pain to the point where he was unable to walk and spent a lot of time crying. While many specialists gave up hope, Ruby Whiskers Rescue saw the spark in him and refused to quit. After weeks of rest, recovery, and an FHO surgery, Bruno defied the odds. Today, he’s walking, running, and living life to the fullest — you’d never guess what he’s been through by looking at his wagging tail and happy grin! At just over a year old, Bruno is a medium-sized, high-energy dog who’s FULL of love and playfulness! He absolutely ADORES playing with other dogs and would thrive in a home with another high energy companion that can help him burn his puppy energy! Additionally, Bruno would love a home with a fenced-in yard, as he LOVES to run and stretch his legs now that he can use them again- he has a lot of time to make up for! Bruno is a TOTAL goofball who enjoys toys, chew bones, and a good game of indoor fetch! He’s a bit of a chewer — remotes, beware! — so he does best when crated if you’re not home! He is fully potty trained, does well in his crate, and sleeps comfortably through the night in his roomy setup! This sweet boy LOVES people but still has some puppy habits — he’ll jump up to say hello and is a bit mouthy when playing. His foster has been working on this, and he’s improving every day with consistency and structure! Bruno responds well to a calm but firm “no” and benefits from positive reinforcement! While he doesn’t know many formal commands, Bruno is extremely smart and would do wonderfully with a basic obedience class to channel his energy and focus! On walks, Bruno can pull and does best with a harness and he’s not reactive to people or other dogs he passes! He rides calmly in the car when crated, does well for baths and blow-drying (he even tries to chew the air from the dryer like a goof!), and has no toy, water, or food aggression towards people or other dogs! He free-feeds throughout the day and occasionally tries to sneak treats from his foster sister because this boy loves a good treat! Bruno’s ideal home would be with an active family who can give him exercise, structure, and love! A home with another playful dog and older children would be perfect, as his enthusiasm might be too much for toddlers. He’s vocal when he wants to go outside, play, or come back in, but it’s never excessive! Due to his past injuries, Bruno takes pregabalin twice daily for mild chronic pain — an inexpensive medication that keeps him comfortable and active! After everything he’s overcome, Bruno deserves a family who will see him not as “the injured dog,” but as the vibrant, loving, goofy boy he is! He’s resilient, affectionate, and full of joy — a true survivor with a heart of gold! If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will fill your days with laughter, love, and a touch of mischief, Bruno is your guy! If you're interested in meeting Bruno the miracle baby, please fill out the application below! https://www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt This dog is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. Please note that we cannot hold dogs for any reason. Please only apply if you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into your home within five days of approval. Breed and Age Information: Unless the puppy was born in our care, we cannot guarantee the breed or age. Breed and age estimates are based on veterinary advice, shelter records, physical appearance, and information provided by previous owners. The adoption fee includes: Spay/neuter (performed at one of our partner veterinarians as scheduled by the rescue) Microchip Rabies vaccine DHPP vaccine Bordetella vaccine 4DX test (Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia, Lyme Disease) General wellness care, including deworming, heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention Your adoption fee also helps support medical care for other rescue animals, including heartworm treatments, surgeries, and emergency care.

Story
Emmie is a three year old black lab mix. She is extremely intelligent, well trained and very loyal to her people. She does tend to stay more around people when going to daycare or boarding as opposed to other dogs as she does take time to warm up. She loves to run, swim and be outside as well as lounging around inside the home. She absolutely loves her walks and to be out in nature and is fantastic on a leash. The few times she has left the yard, she has gone around to the front porch, knowing where her home is. She also has excellent recall skills. She also loves car rides, pup cups and brain engaging toys. We acquired Emmie from a foster when she was 5 months old. She had gotten along with our other dog until the last year and a half. We have tried everything to keep her here as she is an absolute joy to have! Emmie should be in a home that has NO other pets and NO small children as quick actions by smaller people and other animals can make her anxious. Fees cover vaccines/vet visit

Story
Billy Boy, Our One-Of-A-Kind Superdawg Billy boy found himself as one of the longest residents at the Riverside Shelter in Southern California. He was there for over 100 hundred days, had been in many play groups, and extremely social with people and other four legged friends. He thought he had been lucky and found a home but was brought back after 24 hours because he was so excited they felt he had too much energy. Now he’s been rescued and is looking for his new family. He loves to go for walks and hang out with his people.  Billy enjoys his treats and will sit pretty to get them and takes them gently from your hands - no fingers involved.  His unique looks and character make him one-of-a-kind, and he's ready when you are to be a part of your family.  ##2550451##

Story
Honey: The Friendly, Joyful Lab Mix Who Lights Up Every Room Honey didn’t tiptoe into her new life. She walked in with an open heart and a spark that made everyone smile. A tan Labrador retriever mix with bright eyes, a friendly spirit, and a way of saying hello that feels like sunshine. She is about 3 years old and weighs 66 pounds. Easy with other dogs. Great with kids. She treats the farm cats like background decoration and moves on with her day. Her personality is warm and open. She is the kind of dog who makes you feel welcome the moment she sees you. Honey is social and fun. She loves to cuddle but also loves exploring new things. She adjusts quickly, reads the room well, and brings a steady joy into every space she enters. She is gentle with people and happy to follow your lead. Good nutrition, consistent care, and vet oversight are helping her stay healthy as she settles into her new routine. What you see now is a girl who is blooming in all the right ways. Honey is ready for a home that wants a friendly, affectionate companion who brings joy without even trying. ##2579034##
