Story
Cole is a 1 year old, 60 pound flat-coat retriever mix (our best guess!) who was abandoned in a small-town church parking lot east of Dallas, where he wandered confused and hungry for several days. Once a foster spot finally opened, we discovered he had begun showing signs of an injury to his right rear foot. We don’t know exactly what happened, but his sweet boy ended up with a fractured toe, possible puncture wounds, and pad abrasions. We are happy to report he has completely healed from his injury!   Cole is absolutely thriving in his foster home—soaking up the company of friendly resident dogs and all the love from his doting foster mom. He’s a happy, friendly, well-rounded guy with a wonderful temperament.   Cole is also heartworm-positive, but he will be starting treatment soon, and DSDA will cover all of his medical care.   This sweet, resilient boy is ready for his next chapter—one filled with safety, love, and a forever family of his own.   To meet Cole in person visit us at www.dsda.org/adopt and submit our online adoption application.  ADOPTION FEE Covers: Core vaccines plus Lepto and Flu, all boosters, microchip, dewormer until clear fecal test & spay or neuter when completed by a DSDA vet partner plus any necessary medical care.  All dogs are on flea, tick and heartworm prevention and you receive the following month's preventatives complementary with your adoption!  * Adoption Fees: Puppies (12 months and under) - $325  Dogs (over 12 months) - $275  Qualifications for Adoption:  No dog is alike and each dog has different requirements based on breed, age, energy level and life experiences. DSDA is very careful to place our dogs in homes that we believe are the best fit for the dog based on our experience with each dog. All of our dogs live in foster homes which allows us the opportunity to learn about their individual needs.  Must be home more than not. Vet checks are required! All resident pets in the applicant's home MUST be spayed or neutered, core vaccines up to date and dogs on heartworm prevention to be considered! No exceptions.  Must be 21 years or older with identification showing present address. Must have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household. Must receive proof of pet deposit and lease allowing pets if renting. Willingness and capacity to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and responsible care for a pet. Must have a secure fence if in a house. All poisonous plants must be removed from the yard.  DSDA is located in Dallas and requires a home visit on every adoption so only adopt to Dallas and surrounding areas. ##2573318##

Story
Sadie is a sweet and affectionate dog who loves attention and physical closeness. She enjoys relaxing and sleeping during the day and tends to be more alert and active in the evenings. She loves spending time outside simply watching the world go by. She is very treat motivated and can be a bit of a beggar, often waiting patiently for dropped food or a snack. Sadie absolutely adores belly rubs and being petted. She seeks out affection and often acts like a big baby. She may whine at times when she is not receiving attention, as she thrives on companionship and reassurance because of her PTSD. Due to moving, I will be unable to care for her to the best of her needs.

Story
Meet Sadie, the sweetest big baby you will ever meet. Sadie is a 9 year old Flat Coated Retriever with a shiny black coat, soulful eyes, and a heart that just wants to be loved. Her favorite thing in the world is a belly rub and she will happily soak up pets for as long as you are willing to give them. Sadie has a large cyst on her left back side that is currently being monitored by her veterinarian and does not cause her pain. She is spayed and up to date on her rabies vaccination. Sadie is a relaxed girl who enjoys sleeping and lounging during the day and becomes more alert and active in the evenings. She loves spending time outside simply watching what is going on around her and is extremely treat motivated, often waiting patiently for a snack or dropped food. Sadie should be the only pet in the home, as she does not do well with other dogs or animals. She is affectionate with people once she has had a moment to sniff and get comfortable and she thrives on companionship and attention. An ideal home for Sadie would be with someone who enjoys a calm routine, has no other pets, and can give her lots of affection. Sadie is house trained and leash trained and does best with a confident handler who can manage her on walks around other animals. She is a smart girl who responds well to treats and positive reinforcement. I am rehoming Sadie due to changes in my time and financial capacity and not because of anything she has done wrong. Sadie is loving, gentle, and full of heart, and she deserves a home where she can be someoneâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s whole world. Story
River is a TSBR Alum from 2019 who recently lost his dad and is looking for a new place to call his own.  He has matured into just the sweetest gentleman. He is friends with dogs, cats, and loves his humans. He is a true “Flat Coated Retriever”. Enjoying being around everyone and so enjoys  some loving from everyone he meets.  River hardly ever barks except to announce he wants to come back in from an outside adventure or sun puddle.   He is well past those youthful shenanigans and won’t be caught jumping on guests at greeting time.  A well mannered retriever with a sparkle of fun to run and play. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 24, 2025, 4:53 pm

Story
Meet Igor &#194&#150 Your Loyal Shadow with a Big Heart and an Even Bigger Personality Igor is an 11-month-old male Labrador mix weighing about 50 lbs, and he's ready to trade in shelter life for a couch, a family, and a lifetime of love. He came to Rockwall Adoption Center after his previous owner experienced serious medical and personal hardships and could no longer care for him, but Igor has kept his joyful spirit and strong desire to be close to his people. This handsome boy is everything you'd expect from a young Lab mix: friendly, affectionate, playful, and full of life. He is housebroken, crate trained, great with kids, and does well with other dogs. Igor thrives on companionship and likes to be part of whatever his humans are doing. Because he forms strong bonds, he can become anxious when left alone for long periods and does best in a home where he isn't left to his own devices without guidance or structure. He will benefit from an adjustment period as he learns his new home's boundaries, routines, and expectations, along with continued positive training and reassurance. Like many puppies his age, Igor has plenty of energy and enthusiasm and can be a bit exuberant at times. With regular exercise, mental enrichment, and a consistent schedule, he will settle in and grow into a confident, well-mannered companion. Igor is neutered, microchipped, current on his rabies and DHPPC vaccinations, heartworm negative, and on heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $125, which includes all of his veterinary care. If you're looking for a loving, loyal, people-oriented pup who wants to be your constant companion and will flourish with patience, structure, and affection, Igor may be the perfect match for you. Apply to adopt Igor here: https://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Story
Meet Honey &#194&#150 Your Sweetest New Best Friend! Hi! I'm Honey, a 6-year-old Lab/Golden Retriever mix weighing about 52 lbs, and I truly live up to my name. I came to the shelter on 08/14/2025 when my family moved into a smaller home and wanted me to have more room to run, play, and be the happy girl I am. Now I'm ready for my next chapter and a forever family to love. I'm a friendly, outgoing sweetheart who absolutely adores kids of all ages. If there are giggles, hugs, or a game of fetch happening, I want to be right in the middle of it. I'm fully house-trained, have great manners, and love being part of the family routine. Crates aren't really my thing, but cozy beds, couches, and being near my people definitely are. I prefer to be the one and only pet so I can soak up all the attention (and belly rubs) for myself. I'm also a bit of a clever girl with an adventurous streak, so a securely fenced yard and mindful door-checking are important&#194&#151I like to keep life exciting, and sometimes that means testing my &#194&#147escape artist&#194&#148 skills. My adoption fee is $125, and I come spayed, microchipped, up to date on my rabies and boosters. I did test heartworm positive, but the good news is that treatment will be provided at little to no cost to my adopter thanks to the wonderful support of Rockwall PAWS. The RAC staff are always happy to answer any questions and explain the treatment process. If you're looking for a loving, playful, loyal companion who will fill your home with joy, cuddles, and a whole lot of heart, I'd love to meet you. Apply to adopt me here: https://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ I can't wait to find my forever family and start our sweet life together!  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX.
