Cole is a 1 year old, 60 pound flat-coat retriever mix (our best guess!) who was abandoned in a small-town church parking lot east of Dallas, where he wandered confused and hungry for several days. Once a foster spot finally opened, we discovered he had begun showing signs of an injury to his right rear foot. We don’t know exactly what happened, but his sweet boy ended up with a fractured toe, possible puncture wounds, and pad abrasions. While he recovers from his physical injury, Cole is absolutely thriving in his foster home—soaking up the company of friendly resident dogs and all the love from his doting foster mom. He’s a happy, friendly, well-rounded guy with a wonderful temperament. Cole is also heartworm-positive, but he will be starting treatment soon, and DSDA will cover all of his medical care. This sweet, resilient boy is ready for his next chapter—one filled with safety, love, and a forever family of his own. ADOPTION FEE Covers: Core vaccines plus Lepto and Flu, all boosters, microchip, dewormer until clear fecal test & spay or neuter when completed by a DSDA vet partner plus any necessary medical care. All dogs are on flea, tick and heartworm prevention and you receive the following month's preventatives complementary with your adoption! * Adoption Fees: Puppies (12 months and under) - $325 Dogs (over 12 months) - $275 Qualifications for Adoption: No dog is alike and each dog has different requirements based on breed, age, energy level and life experiences. DSDA is very careful to place our dogs in homes that we believe are the best fit for the dog based on our experience with each dog. All of our dogs live in foster homes which allows us the opportunity to learn about their individual needs. Must be home more than not. Vet checks are required! All resident pets in the applicant's home MUST be spayed or neutered, core vaccines up to date and dogs on heartworm prevention to be considered! No exceptions. Must be 21 years or older with identification showing present address. Must have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household. Must receive proof of pet deposit and lease allowing pets if renting. Willingness and capacity to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and responsible care for a pet. Must have a secure fence if in a house. He is friends with dogs, cats, and loves his humans. He is a true “Flat Coated Retriever”. Enjoying being around everyone and so enjoys some loving from everyone he meets. River hardly ever barks except to announce he wants to come back in from an outside adventure or sun puddle. It is so hard to believe Bubbles has not been swooped up for adoption! She is now one of our Diamond Dogs, which are the pets we highlight as the Diamond in the Ruff seeking their forever home. Her adoption fee has been reduced to $125. DOB: 12/16/2022 Weight: 50lbs Bubbles was left behind when her owner moved out of a rental property. Her roommate stepped up to care for her until a forever home could be found. Bubbles loves carrying her toys around and takes treats very gently. She knows how to sit, shake, lay down, and roll over on command and plays fetch. She's also house and crate-trained! Bubbles loves exercising in her yard several times a day and would do best in a home that can provide regular exercise. She does great with cats, but hasn't been around children so we're not sure how she would do. Bubbles is good with other dogs but needs to be fed separately from them. Bubbles is current on her vaccinations, spayed and is heartworm negative. All she needs now is a forever home to call her own! Meet Ralphie! He is an approximately 6 year old, male, Lab/Poodle mix who weighs approximately 57 lbs. He is currently in a foster home and being surrendered because his owner is no longer able to care for him. He is a sweet boy who appears to be friendly with female dogs and loves to play! He has a higher prey drive and would not do well in a home with small dogs or cats. His previous owner says he is house trained, and leash trained and eager to please. Yellow labDougie is a lovely large male dog. He’s an older adult but still has plenty of energy. He is very gentle with kids and humans and gets along with most dogs but has not been around cats. He tends to have the calming influence of a Lab on a household. He should not be put into a household with another alpha male dog. He is protective of his family and home and would be great for a family looking for a dog for safety reasons. Dougie will make a fantastic dog for any family.
