You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Gus is one of those dogs that was born to be someone's best friend.  He LOVES people.  We think he was a dumped hunting dog-- e.g. a dog 'let go' because they wouldn't hunt game on demand.  Gus just loves people too much. Gus is very calm, walks well on leash (but can pull), rides great, & gets along with all dogs. He’s done great with crate training and house training. He is very food motivated and loves snacks. Gus LOVES kids and would be great with them regardless of age.  He does like to dig holes, but can be convinced to knock that off with redirection. Gus is about 4-5 years old, completely vetted, and microchipped.   You can apply to adopt our dogs at: https://www.pawfectmatch.org/info/adoption  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 1, 2025, 11:47 am

Kahlo is also extremely kid friendly, he has 1 human sibling! He loves playing with his human sibling, but can tell when enough is enough and gladly gives him space when needed. He also does well in public on his leash. He truly is such a good boy, so why not make him yours?!? Story
When I first picked up Dreamy, she was in terrible shape, emaciated with her hair thin and brittle. Even so, all she wanted was attention. With proper nutrition and a lot of love, she is now a happy, healthy, beautiful girl. She loves everyone she meets and wants nothing but to be close to you and rubbed. She loves her crate and will go in it on her own to sleep when she is tired. She is totally house trained and does her business outside. She has lots of energy and would love an active person to match her energy level. She would make someone a great jogging companion. She loves to go on walks but is a strong girl and will pull in the beginning, however, she settles down the longer she walks. She loves to play with the other large dog in my home and they get along great. She is so energetic I must watch to keep her from tiring him out and overwhelming him. Dreamy will make someone a great and loving pet. Please consider giving her a loving home.

Story
Max (aka Maxie or Max Pig) is the sweetest boy! He’s a lover at heart who is happiest cuddling up to or sharing outdoor adventures with his humans. Maxie’s about 30#, neutered, HW-, potty trained, crate trained, and not destructive inside. He would do well in an apartment or house. Max often greets his favorite humans with excited chirps, but is otherwise very quiet. Inside the house, he’s a total couch potato. Outside, he’s a gifted athlete. Max really enjoys training activities and would likely be thrilled to participate in agility training! Although he’s estimated to be 6 years old, Max displays the energy of a much younger dog as soon as he steps outside. Off leash, he’s a fast and agile runner who enjoys getting his zoomies out. On leash, he’s a perfect gentleman who loves to be included in family hikes and neighborhood strolls. He also enjoys lying in the sun and rolling in the grass to scratch his back. Birds, squirrels, cats, and other small animals quickly catch and hold Max’s attention, but he responds well to gentle redirection from his humans. Max would love to be the only pet in the home. He enjoys playing and walking with dog friends outside, but really wants to have his humans’ full attention inside. Max loves every person he meets, including young kids. However, sudden movements and loud noises can make him nervous. Because of this, he’d do best in a home with older kids, teens, and adults. It’s important for Maxie to have a safe space to call his own. The space could be a crate, specific dog bed, or area blocked off by a gate. He will happily go to his space at his humans’ request. He also naturally retreats there to recharge when needed. Whether in his space or cozying up next to his people, Max delights in cuddling up in (and under!) soft blankets. This sweet boy will be an amazing addition to his adoptive family! It seems Max may have had a rough start in life, but he is so full of joy and love. He can't wait to share couch cuddles, kisses, and adventures with his forever family!

Story
(DOB 01/09/2023) Huck is heartworm positive and our rescue will provide the medical treatment. For that reason, he is adoptable within 1 hour radius of Wake Forest, NC during that time. Huck, the hound with a heart of gold and the zoomies to match is passed the puppy stage but definitely a young and playful boy; he is a professional toy-chaser and squeaky-stuffed-animal enthusiast. Whether it’s racing around the yard or showing off his super-speed zooming skills, he has the ability to melt hearts with his sweet, goofy smile and cheery personality. This guy is definitely gonna want a yard with a fence, and it should be 6 ft to keep him safe. He loves being outside and being able to goof off to his hearts content! Another playful, furry sibling is also on top of his list.  If he's not playing with his friends in the yard or in the house, and you really want a cool travel companion, Huck is ready to GO GO GO! He is really good in the car and makes a lonely car drive not so boring. Feel free to chat with him, sing a song and he's happy to be your car companion side-kick! Huck's always up for making new friends, especially if there’s a furry buddy around to show him the ropes. He’s friendly with dogs of all sizes and even gets along with cats – truly, he’s a lover, not a fighter! Other than being a tad bit shy at first introduction to new things, he is the 1st to make new friends of any kind easily. He hasn't had an opportunity to meet kids yet. Since he is on the shy side, older kids and a home that is less wild and crazy is likely best. He’s already house and crate trained, so he’s ready to settle into his new home with ease. He is a huge fan of car rides and is ready to be your co-pilot! Huck is all hound when it comes to following his nose on an epic snack hunt, he is alwasy on the lookout for snacks or treats. His hound powers include ultra-sniffing which can get the better of him when there are yummy, tasty, delicious things on the counter so be on the look out.  If you're looking for a playful, affectionate companion who’ll keep you laughing, snuggling, and running (in circles), Huck’s your guy. He just needs a little patience, time for additional leash training, and a lot of love to build his confidence and show you his best hound dog self. So, what are you waiting for? Huck’s ready to find his forever home – and he’s bringing the squeaky toys, huge smile, and big heart! As part of Huck’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Huck, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2289256##
