You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Egg is an enthusiastic foxhound mix who is between 4-6 years old. Egg loves to follow her nose, and enjoys spending time outside sniffing and sunbathing. She is very friendly with kids, dogs & chickens! In her current foster home, Egg has quickly taken to learning basic obedience, so we are confident this girl is going to be a superstar with her training. Even while healing and putting on weight, Egg has had an incredible personality that shines as soon as you meet her! In the time since coming to the rescue, Egg has been on many adventures & has done amazing on all of them. Egg will be spayed in September, 2024. Eggs Story: On 8/1/2024 one of our fosters, Loren, was making her way to Myrtle Beach and stumbled upon Egg in the swamp on the NC/SC border. Egg weighed only 35 pounds and was covered head to toe in fleas, ticks and flies. But that didn't seem to keep Egg down - as soon as Loren pulled her car over, Egg made her way over to greet her. After taking one last drink from the swampy creek, Egg loaded herself up in the car, starting her new life. Loren mapped to the closest vet & in a panic contacted our adult dog coordinator, Monica, who jumped into action. Within minutes Monica had coordinated transportation back to Raleigh with another one of our fosters, Marelle, who happened to be heading home from her beach vacation that same day. Once they arrived at the closest veterinary hospital, Egg was given a Capstar and some food, and stood there sweet as can be while the vet staff removed over 50 ticks from her. Loren loaded Egg back up in the car and finished their drive to Myrtle Beach. Once they arrived at the rental property Loren was staying at, she gave Egg 7 flea baths before they stopped pouring off her body. Marelle swooped in and transported Egg back to Raleigh for some much needed vet care, and lots more flea baths. After being seen by the vet it was determined Egg is between 4-6 years old, is heartworm positive, and also has hookworms and whipworms. Egg is expected to weigh around 60 pounds at her ideal weight. While she has a long road until recovery, Egg has not let that keep her down! - One of Eggs rescuers runs a dog boarding business and has sponsored Eggs boarding fees for life. *Located in Winston-Salem & dependent on availability.
