Story
Meet Tooty — the sweetest little soul who never wanted to be a hunting dog. At just 3 years old, Tooty made it clear her dream job was much simpler: professional house dog and full-time best friend. This calm, gentle girl was surrendered because she’d much rather curl up beside her humans than chase through the woods. Tooty can be a little shy when meeting new people, but give her a few minutes and her loving personality shines through. Once she warms up, she wants nothing more than to be wherever you are — following you from room to room, lounging nearby, and soaking up affection. Tooty is incredibly sweet, easygoing, and human-focused. She has a soft spirit and a loving heart that make her the perfect companion for someone looking for a calm, loyal best friend. She’s ready to trade hunting life for couch cuddles, quiet evenings, and a family who will love her exactly as she is.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. INTERESTED IN MEETING OR ADOPTING Josie from Best Friend Pet Adoption rescue? If so, please fill out our dog adoption application by copying and pasting this link in a new browser window: https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC.  This is always the first step which needs to be completed before meeting any Best Friend Pet Adoption dog.     FOSTER COMMENTS: Meet Josie — your future best friend and full-time source of joy! Josie is a happy-go-lucky, inquisitive pup with a playful spirit and a heart full of love. She’s the kind of dog who wakes up excited for the day, ready to explore, play, and make you smile. Whether she’s romping around the yard or curiously investigating something new, Josie brings a fun, lighthearted energy wherever she goes. This sweet girl absolutely   loves   other dogs and would thrive in a home with a playful canine companion. She currently enjoys keeping up with her two Dalmatian foster siblings and would be thrilled to have a buddy to wrestle, chase, and learn from. While she might be able to be an only dog, she’s never been without company, so a home where she has plenty of interaction—human or canine—would suit her best. Josie is a high-energy pup who would do best with a fenced yard where she can safely explore and burn off some of that puppy enthusiasm. She’s still learning her leash manners (those exciting smells are hard to resist!), but she’s making progress and will continue to improve with consistency and guidance. She’s about 95% housebroken and just needs a little supervision as she finishes learning. Josie isn’t fully crate trained yet—she currently sleeps cozied up with her humans—and she would do best in a home where someone is around most of the day. She’s used to having company and may not thrive if left alone for long hours. Josie hasn’t officially lived with kids yet, but she adores people and has a friendly, outgoing nature that suggests she’ll do well with respectful children. She’s also been around cats and is more curious than anything—no aggression, just a desire to say hello (even if the cats aren’t quite as enthusiastic!). This smart cookie already knows how to sit and is eager to learn more—especially if snacks are involved! Like many puppies, she’s currently teething and enjoys chewing, so she’ll need appropriate toys and guidance to help her learn what’s hers to gnaw on. Josie is mostly quiet, with just a little whining when she’s first left alone or letting you know it’s mealtime. Otherwise, she’s content, cheerful, and ready to be your loyal companion. If you’re looking for a sweet, silly, energetic pup who will keep you laughing and shower you with love, Josie might just be your perfect match. With a little continued training and a lot of affection, she’s going to grow into an incredible lifelong friend.   Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants ideally should live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore prefer applicants that live within an hours drive of Cary NC.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING JOSIE? You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. INTERESTED IN MEETING OR ADOPTING Bo from Best Friend Pet Adoption rescue? If so, please fill out our dog adoption application by copying and pasting this link in a new browser window: https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC.  This is always the first step which needs to be completed before meeting any Best Friend Pet Adoption dog.     FOSTER COMMENTS: Meet Bo — your future best friend wrapped up in one adorable, wiggly, tail-wagging package. Bo is the kind of puppy who makes every day feel a little brighter. With his playful spirit and love for cuddles, he’s equal parts entertainer and snuggle buddy. One minute he’s happily bouncing around with a toy, the next he’s curled up beside you, soaking up all the love he can get. He’s incredibly sweet, full of personality, and always ready to be part of whatever you’re doing. As a young pup, Bo is still learning the ropes of the world. He’s currently working on crate training and housebreaking, and like any baby, he’ll need a family committed to helping him grow into the amazing dog he’s meant to be. The good news? He’s eager, social, and loves people, which makes training a fun and rewarding experience. Bo is friendly with new people and has already shown he does well with other dogs. He’s even been around a baby and handled it like a champ. He may be a little vocal right now, but that’s just part of his puppy charm—he’s figuring out how to “use his voice,” and with guidance, he’ll learn when it’s time to chat and when it’s time to relax. Bo will thrive with a family who’s ready to include him in daily life, continue his training, give him exercise, playtime and plenty of love, attention and belly rubs.  He can be happy as an only dog soaking up all your attention or with a canine sibling to play with. If you’re looking for a puppy who is affectionate, playful, and absolutely irresistible, Bo is your guy. He’s not just cute—he’s the kind of dog who will grow up to be a loyal, loving companion for years to come. All he needs now is a family to call his own. INTERESTED IN ADOPTING BO ? Story
(DOB 02/13/2024) Clementine is your future sunshine in dog form.  This sweet, young hound may be a little shy when you first meet her, but give her a little time and you’ll see her true personality bloom. Then, Clementine’s gentle, affectionate nature shines through in the best way. She forms strong bonds with her people and absolutely adores snuggling up close—whether it’s on the couch, at your feet, or wherever you are, really! Clementine is the perfect mix of playful energy and cozy companion. She loves staying busy, especially when it involves playtime with other dogs or engaging toys (bonus points if treats are involved; she’s very food motivated!). Puzzle toys and treat-dispensing games are her favorites, and she’ll happily entertain herself while showing off her smarts. When the fun winds down, she’s more than ready to curl up for a long, peaceful nap. She does wonderfully with other dogs and would thrive in a home with a playful pup sibling to help build her confidence and show her the ropes. That said, Clementine could also be perfectly happy as your one-and-only, soaking up all the love and attention. She's also good natured with kids but not sure about cats, yet. A fenced-in yard would be a big plus for this curious girl, giving her a safe space to explore, stretch her legs, and continue growing more confident each day. Clementine enjoys her walks and is already showing off nice leash manners. She’s currently working on learning her basic commands and is eager to please especially when treats are involved! With a little consistency and positive reinforcement, she’s sure to pick things up quickly. Clementine would do best in a patient, loving home that can give her a little time to adjust and continue building her confidence. With the right family, she will blossom into a loyal, loving companion who brings both fun and snuggles into everyday life. Adopt this girl and it will certainly be a win-win! As part of Clementine’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Clementine, you can complete an application online for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2696603##
