Story
Characteristics: Achilles is a eager, loving, and loyal boy. He absolutely loves hoses, and chasing lizards. He would be content with a quiet home, or minimal exercise, although he is a shepherd mix. He would love to be around water or have access to swimming. Background: Achilles came to us through our foster program with Pinal county. He was on the priority foster list due to having a bite record from his previous surrender. The circumstance of the bite was unknown, but assumed to be from a loud noise scaring him or being aggressed by the previous owner. Due to changes in the Pinal county insurance policy, we have adopted Achilles to avoid euthanasia. Current progress: Achilles came to us with stranger danger, assumably from shelter stress. He has made a lot of progress interacting with new people as well as dogs. He is still hyper-sensitive to noises and movements, but has learned how to interact with that stress appropriately. Achilles has also undergone basic obedience classes, and is crate trained. Cat tested: Not recommended (prey drive) but can be tested. Kids: Older children with meet and greet only. On leash: Minor pulling on leash, very receptive to training. Behavior concerns: With his hyper-sensitivity, loud noises and fast movements should be limited in the home while he is transitioning to home life. He will most likely need a structured process to introducing strangers in the home at first to be more comfortable. Training receptiveness: High food drive, minimal toy drive. He has been very easy to work with in training and is easy to leave it when barking, even with the hose, which is his favorite. He is eager to please, especially if you are his person. When you adopt a dog from Como Animal Works, you are provided free boarding as a courtesy and comfort of the dog being familiar with our facility. We also provide free training sessions on-site or at the home while the dog is transitioning to home life. Our goal is to help keep dogs out of overcrowded shelters and provide much needed dog socialization during that time.

We rescued Kane and Bear at 5 weeks old - they were in need of love. These two are so super sweet and love people, kids and other dogs. Unfortunately we must rehome them because we are moving out of state and we are not able to take them with us due to the landlord rules and the space where we will be. We are staying with family and they are not only allergic to dogs but also the landlord will not allow them. Please come meet our two babies- you will love them. They are great companions and will love you so much.

Story
Characteristics: Milo has shown to be a very sweet, lazy boy. If he had it his way, he'd be laying in the sun all day, preferably with his dog besties. We believe his is a Great Dane mix due to his long face and body, as well as the tone of his bark. He is socialized with both people and dogs, but can be uneasy meeting dogs who are nervous or standoffish. Background: Milo came to us as a shelter bypass dog from PACC, at only six months old. His background is unknown, but shows some characteristics of being taken from the litter too early. He has been with us for a year and a half now, waiting for his forever home. Current progress: Milo has been around a lot of other dogs at Como, but has a hard time adjusting to the constant stimulus. He has undergone basic obedience training (sit, stay, no), and will wait for his food very politely. He is crate trained, and potty trained. Cat tested: Upon request Kids: Older children, young children upon request On leash: Can pull, very receptive to training. Behavior concerns: Milo is food excitable, different to resource guarding, but still should be separated from other dogs in the home when feeding. He is also very puppy-like in his play language, likely due to being separated from the litter too early. He can be a little nippy when excited but has not shown intent to escalate the behavior. Training receptiveness: Very high food drive, high toy drive. Can be a bit puppy-like during play.

Meet Legoshi, a 4-year-old pup with a playful spirit and an independent streak. Having spent most of his life as an outside-only dog, he’s still learning what it means to be a true indoor companion. Legoshi will need a patient and dedicated adopter to help him with the basics like leash skills and house training, but he’s got the personality and potential to make it all worthwhile. He enjoys doing his own thing but also has a fun, playful side that shines through once he’s comfortable. With time, structure, and a loving home, Legoshi can grow into a loyal companion who’s ready to experience all the comforts of indoor life for the first time.

Story
You might be surprised to find a pinniped residing in the Sonoran Desert, but we have our very own Seal at PACC! Ok, ok, ok… Seal is actually a dog, but he does have share some his important traits with his aquatic counterparts:- Whiskers and a soft velvety coat - A streamlined body for optimal performance - External ears- Extremely cute - Loves the water! Seal came to the shelter as a stray and his finder described as friendly with people and well- behaved around a cat. Here’s what staff and volunteers at the shelter have said:“We had Seal out in playgroup today and he really enjoyed the water! He likes to splash in the kiddie pool and sploot in the trough, like a, well, a seal!”“Seal was a pleasure to have out. On the way to the play yard he pulled a little but also liked to sniff. In the yard he explored with sniffing but when I called him he would immediately come over and cuddle. Very affectionate, well behaved, and friendly. He loved playing with a tennis ball and cooled himself in the pool in between sessions. Very good boy, looking forward to spending more time with him.”“I took Seal to the Dog of the Day yard. He is friendly and very affectionate. A pleasure to be with.”“Wow, Seal is a perfect little baby! Friendly in his kennel, very easy to leash up and walk over to a yard. In the yard he nuzzled his sweet little nose into my hand and climbed up onto my lap when invited. He gave me the sweetest little kisses. He`s curious and friendly- a great boy!”Seal has been independent and tolerant when meeting other dogs in playgroup and would like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit. Get your very own land Seal today!!
