Story
Meet our gentle soul Vera who is learning what love feels like. She has had very little socialization in the past, so the world can seem overwhelming at times. She is shy and disconnected when she meets new people and new dogs, often preparing to observe from a safe spot (which is her crate) until she feels secure and decides to take steps forward. Canned cheese usually helps in these situations. With a calm household and a patient family, Vera will slowly blossom into a devoted companion who will bring joy and happiness to everyone around her. She will thrive with someone who understands that progress may come in baby steps - gentle words, soft touches and lots and lots of reassurance. Vera is not the type to jump into your lap right away, or have confidence to walk on a leash next to you but when she finally gives you her trust, it will mean everything. She is just perfect for someone who values the beauty of small victories and the deep bond that comes from helping a once forgotten dog find her place in the world. Vera needs another well balanced dog next to her, one that will help her discover how wonderful life can be. Her adoption fee is $250. Story
This is Bosch. A 2 year old plush coat, big hearted, big bodied sweetheart who doesn't quite realize just how powerful he is. This 85lb giant is large, strong and full of love, the kind of dog who greets everyone with jumps and kisses. He is super friendly with people, and loves being a part of whatever you're doing whether it's going for a walk or just lounging on the couch. He does need obedience training as he currently pulls our volunteers when he's leashed. He has started crate training as well, seems to be vocal about it but settles in shortly after. Because of his size, we have only had him around other large dogs so far and he is not rough or reactive, just a big goofy dog who can be a bit overwhelming to others. Because of his strength, Bosch needs an owner who can handle him physically and confidently. Older kids are recommended for those same reasons. His adoption fee is $250 and he is located in a foster home in Port Orange. Please, do not email asking "Is he available" or "I'm interested". If you are experienced and considering adopting, visit our website at www.dbgsdrescue.org. On our website, you can review adoption requirements and steps to moving forward. Thank you.

Story
Meet Goliath – A Gentle Giant Looking for Love Goliath is a calm, affectionate “gentle giant” at ~3-4 years old who thrives in a home where he can spend time with his people. He doesn’t need much exercise—just attention, companionship, and a cozy place to relax. He was also extremely good with small dogs and puppies, including helping them with boundaries and mouthing. He has done great at community events (food truck festivals and beaches), and previously lived with small children, always showing respectful and gentle behavior. Goliath is crate trained but doesn’t need one and settles easily into a home routine. Due to his size, he eats about 4 cups of food per day, which his future family should be prepared to maintain. This rehoming decision is made with love, as my schedule and finances as a first responder no longer allow me to give him the time he deserves. Goliath is a loyal, loving dog ready to be someone’s constant companion and enjoy a quiet, stable home.
