Story
Our son is no longer able to take care of his dog and we have to rehome him Hachi is a sweet boy who just turned 4 and has a fair amount of puppy playfulness in him. His makeup is about 35% German shepherd, equal parts American Bully, foxhound and coonhound and 5% Dalmatian. Our son was his 3rd rescue family, so he has lost everything in his life at least twice. As a result, he is food insecure and possessive of items he views as his own. For example, he’s a ball hog at the dog park, he will cram three tennis balls in his mouth … funny to watch. He’s not aggressive possessive, more like he’ll sit by them and whine if you come near - like he’s afraid of losing them. Eventually he loses the need to “guard” the item and life goes on. Hachi is 135 lbs. of muscular dog - he is too strong for me to control on a leash when he lurches for lizards, rabbits etc and at this stage in our life we never wanted another dog. In Hachi’s case at 4 years old he could outlive one or both of us.

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Foster, Foster-to-Adopt, or Adopter Needed for Gouda.   Who couldn’t use a little more sunshine and happiness in their life? Gouda is an approx.10yo German Shepherd Dog ready for her retirement home. This sweet lady smiles with her eyes. Not only is she gorgeous, but our girl is a total sweetheart. Lil Rascals pulled her from the shelter as an owner surrender right before her euthanasia date. Those years of neglect are behind her and now she’s so ready for you to provide the love. She is so tail-waggy. Calm, quiet, housebroken and easy to take care of. She is perfectly crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night (and lots of naps during the day too). She will be happy to lay near you for Netflix and chill time. She would thrive in a home where she is queen of her castle. She’s great with the teenager in her foster home. She moves a little slow, has some arthritis in her hips and spine typical to the age and breed, and takes daily supplements. Single story living is best for her especially as she ages. She does not need a fenced yard, but does like to sniff outside and come in pretty quickly, so a yard is required. Slow and short walks are best for her. She loves baths - her foster mom gave her a bath with the water hose on a warm day and she loved the water and being scrubbed. She’s super soft but in typical GSD fashion, she definitely sheds and should be brushed regularly. Luckily she is cool as a cucumber when the vacuum cleaner runs near her, not even fazing her. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and think you may have the perfect home for this special senior, please complete an application and tell us more about your family. Story
Rolo is a 6 month old German Shepherd pup who was in a local shelter and thought he found his forever home but unfortunately, he was returned when he developed a very enthusiastic hobby - chewing on Grandma's oxygen tubing. He is a typical puppy, playful, curious, and clearly believes that everything in the house in a chew toy until proven otherwise. Puppy logic. Rolo needs a family who understands that puppies chew, puppies explore and sometimes make questionable choices. With training, toys and supervision, this boy will grow into an amazing companion. If you're looking for a goofy, loving friend who will keep you laughing and on your toes, Rolo might be your guy. His adoption fee is $300. We will no longer respond to generic "I'm interested" messages. Please, visit HOW TO ADOPT section on our website at www.dbgsdrescue.org
