Story
December 28 update: Meet Ginger 🔥🐶Ginger is a 1-year-old, 50-pound German Shepherd with big energy, a sharp mind, and an even bigger drive to engage. She’s incredibly food motivated and genuinely enjoys training, which makes her the kind of dog who thrives with structure, consistency, and purpose...three things that are hard to come by in a shelter environment. Because of that, let’s be real...Ginger is a lot.Right now, Ginger struggles because she doesn’t get the consistent feedback and stimulation she needs. She can be mouthy, but it’s not aggression. It’s a smart, high-energy dog asking for direction and an outlet. With regular training, clear boundaries, and mental & physical enrichment, Ginger has the potential to be an incredible partner for someone who understands her needs. This is not a couch potato dog. This is a dog for someone who wants to train, who enjoys building a relationship, and who understands that leadership and consistency are love. She is good with other dogs, and in a calm, structured environment, she would likely learn from the other dogs at home.Ginger is waiting for the person who sees her energy not as a problem, but as possibility. But she's been waiting already for 75 days, and it's taking its toll. She is an urgent case.If you’re experienced with German Shepherds or high-drive dogs and looking for a project worth investing in, Ginger might just be your girl. November 3At just 11 months old and under 50 pounds, Ginger is the perfect medium-sized bundle of joy. This beautiful young shepherd is vaccinated, spayed, and ready to go home today if her special person comes along!Ginger has that wonderful, fun kind of puppy energy—playful, curious, and always ready for an adventure. She’ll keep you smiling with her goofy antics and big heart. Whether it’s exploring the yard, going for walks, or learning new tricks, she’s eager to be by your side.If you’re looking for an enthusiastic, loving companion who’s ready to grow with you, Ginger is your girl! Come meet her and see just how special she is. 🧡🐾Please call the shelter at (706) 795-2868 to schedule a meet and greet.Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is a non-profit shelter serving over 720 square miles. Story
Meet Obi! A 61lbs young male shepherd mix with a gentle and loving personality! Obi is a super sweet boy who can be timid or unsure in new environments, but even when he’s nervous, his loving personality always shines through. His greatest desire is simply to hang out with you and be part of your world.  Obi is potty trained and is learning basic manners like sitting. Obi is a fast learner and is extremely friendly with dogs and children, and he would likely do well in a home with another dog to keep him company.  Obi does not do well in a crate, as he likely spent long periods in one before coming to us. He would do best with someone who works from home or is home most of the time. He thrives with time, patience, and plenty of attention. As a shepherd mix, Obi needs mental stimulation as well as exercise to stay happy. He loves chewing and can be happily occupied with a frozen marrow bone or a Kong full of peanut butter, which is his favorite! Obi is indifferent to people food and doesn’t beg— except for peanut butter, which he politely sits and waits for. He is a quiet observer; his foster family has never heard him bark, though he may occasionally whine if left alone for longer periods. Obi is looking for a loving home where he can continue to grow in confidence and be a cherished part of the family.  ##2562330##

Story
CALLING OUT TO ALL SINGLE PERSONS! BOLT IS LOOKING FOR AN ADVENTUROUS SEEKING PERSON THAT IS IN THE NEED of SPEED, HIKING, BOATING, and RUNNING!!   This is Bolt.  This sweet dog is approximately 2 years old, neutered, and fully vetted by Shannon Veterinary Services.  He was found with a leg injury on a rural road in Jackson County in August.  He is chipped, but upon contact with his previous owner it was found out that Bolt  had  been “sold”  to someone else. No further information was given by the previous owner.  Bolt loves attention, but sometimes does not realize  his size!   He loves to ride and walks well on a leash. I suspect he could be housebroken.  Bolt is not a digger and has not attempted to get out of his fence, but he does need space. I’m not sure how he is around cats, but he gets along fine with my senior female black lab.The problem is that  our senior Great Pyrenees mix is the alpha dog in the fence and Bernie is sometimes intolerant of Bolt.  I do not feel that it is fair to put sweet Bolt in this situation.  Bolt deserves a home where he is the only dog or where he can be the alpha dog. If you are looking for a young, healthy, loving, big dog to give a furever home to then look no further!  Bolt will steal your heart!   ##2569415##

Story
My friend is sadly having to rehome his dogs (German Shepherd mix), due to moving/landlord pressures. Mjolnir (not spayed yet), mostly dark brown fur, is sweet and affectionate. She is 1.5 years old, chipped, and has most required vaccines (record available). My friend has had Mjolnir since she was a puppy. She loves attention. Nuna (Nuna is spayed), Mjolnir's sister, with white and light brown fur, is sweet, clever, and likes to play. Her personal info is pretty similar to that of Mjolnir. Needs exercise/stimulation. Pulls leash when excited. For Mjolnir or Nuna, looking for experienced adopters who love dogs. Thank you!!!
