Colt is a 9 month old male weighing about 55 pounds as of 10/27. Colt has not been handled very much up to this point. We are working with him to build his trust. Colt is still just a big puppy that needs to learn that people can be a good thing. Colt is up to date on all vaccines and will be neutered, micro chipped, given a rabies shot and heart worm test upon adoption. His adoption fee is $200. Transportation assistance is available.

Story
Nico is a Malinois / Mastiff mix that is 8 years of age and around 65 pounds. He is impeccably trained with obedience and commands such as sit, stay, come, place and elevated commands such as "finish," and "peak," along with some basic scent work. He is extremely loyal to his "bonded" person and needs a savvy owner to build that mutual respect. This brindle breed mix is very intelligent and although he has lived with another dog in the past, we recommend his ideal environment be a home where he is an only pet to relax in his retirement years. He is a great companion for walks, lounging in the sunshine in a fenced yard and fulfilling the couch potato roll. He is at the age where he appreciates quieter surroundings. He enjoys human contact with his people. We would love to see him live out retirement days with a person who gives him attention, comfort, the luxury items of a comfy dog bed and lounging time in the backyard sunshine!

Story
Sarge is a 53-pound, easygoing pup with a heart as big as his silly ears. He’s a fun mix of several breeds: one of his brothers completed a DNA test that revealed German Shepherd, Bulldog, Husky, and even Australian Shepherd in the mix! Sarge enjoys spending his days trotting around the yard, then settling in for a good nap, preferably under (or on top of!) our agility equipment. He's a big fan of our lawn chairs! If there’s a comfortable spot with a great view, Sarge will find it. Here at HSOC, Sarge has done extremely well with other dogs. While he’s typically a nonchalant guy, he can get a bit enthusiastic during playtime. Any potential canine siblings would need a meet-and-greet to be sure their play styles are a good match. That said, Sarge would also be perfectly happy as the only dog in the home, soaking up affection from his humans and providing loyal companionship. Sarge has been cat-tested in the office here, but has not been in a home setting with a cat. He has not shown any aggression or fixated behavior with cats here at HSOC, so we believe he would do well in a home with cats. Sarge has been working hard on polishing his manners as he awaits his forever home. He may still need a little guidance with jumping up to say hello, but he responds well to proper correction once you break through the "stubbornness". Multiple trainers have shared that Sarge is a wonderful dog to work with, and we believe he would make a great family companion for a home with children. Every adoption includes a transitional training lesson with dog trainer, Jim Kats, to help Sarge (and his new family) start off on the right paw!

Brittany is a beautiful little German Shepherd mix. She is a baby at only about 10 weeks of age but already is energetic, intelligent, playful, and gets so excited to see her people. Brittany will need proper socialization and training to help her grow up to be an amazing GSD representative. With her energy, enthusiasm and zest for fun, Brittany will need a family that will give her daily physical exercise, along with mental stimulation scenarios. This baby girl will make a wonderful family dog and at this age, is good with dogs, cats and children. To inquire or for an adoption application, please email to blueridgerescue@aol.com
