Story
Bismarck is a full breed white German shepherd that we purchased as a puppy from a breeder in St. Louis. He has been a pretty good dog however, he has outgrown our space. He is crate trained and spends more time than he should in it due to our busy schedules. He gets really anxious and snappy when a lot of kids are around making noise which is another reason we need to rehome him. We are currently working with a trainer to make his transition smoother.

Story
Nico is a Malinois / Mastiff mix that is 8 years of age and around 65 pounds. He is impeccably trained with obedience and commands such as sit, stay, come, place and elevated commands such as "finish," and "peak," along with some basic scent work. He is extremely loyal to his "bonded" person and needs a savvy owner to build that mutual respect. This brindle breed mix is very intelligent and although he has lived with another dog in the past, we recommend his ideal environment be a home where he is an only pet to relax in his retirement years. He is a great companion for walks, lounging in the sunshine in a fenced yard and fulfilling the couch potato roll. He is at the age where he appreciates quieter surroundings. He enjoys human contact with his people. We would love to see him live out retirement days with a person who gives him attention, comfort, the luxury items of a comfy dog bed and lounging time in the backyard sunshine!

Story
Knox’s story didn’t start easy. He was abandoned and left to fend for himself, found by a kind Good Samaritan on the side of the road—malnourished, cold, and suffering from severe mange and infection. Thanks to that one act of compassion, Knox’s journey led him to Adopt Me Bluegrass and into the loving care of his incredible foster family. With weeks of antibiotics, medicated baths, good food, and—most importantly—love in a warm home, Knox has made a truly remarkable transformation. This once-forgotten pup is now a healthy, happy, and thriving young dog who is ready for his forever home. Knox is approximately 9 months old, currently 25 pounds, crate trained, potty trained, and already knows sit, lay down, shake, and has absolutely mastered the art of being a top-tier cuddle bug. His DNA results show he’s about 60% German Shepherd, mixed with several other working breeds—so he’s smart, loyal, and eager to please. Despite everything he’s been through, Knox is gentle, loving, and full of heart. He’s resilient, affectionate, and truly special. 💙 Knox is 100% the best boy—and he’s ready to give his whole heart to his forever family. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with an incredible comeback story, Knox might just be your perfect match

Story
Sarge is a 53-pound, easygoing pup with a heart as big as his silly ears. He’s a fun mix of several breeds: one of his brothers completed a DNA test that revealed German Shepherd, Bulldog, Husky, and even Australian Shepherd in the mix! Sarge enjoys spending his days trotting around the yard, then settling in for a good nap, preferably under (or on top of!) our agility equipment. He's a big fan of our lawn chairs! If there’s a comfortable spot with a great view, Sarge will find it. Here at HSOC, Sarge has done extremely well with other dogs. While he’s typically a nonchalant guy, he can get a bit enthusiastic during playtime. Any potential canine siblings would need a meet-and-greet to be sure their play styles are a good match. That said, Sarge would also be perfectly happy as the only dog in the home, soaking up affection from his humans and providing loyal companionship. Sarge has been cat-tested in the office here, but has not been in a home setting with a cat. He has not shown any aggression or fixated behavior with cats here at HSOC, so we believe he would do well in a home with cats. Sarge has been working hard on polishing his manners as he awaits his forever home. He may still need a little guidance with jumping up to say hello, but he responds well to proper correction once you break through the "stubbornness". Multiple trainers have shared that Sarge is a wonderful dog to work with, and we believe he would make a great family companion for a home with children. Every adoption includes a transitional training lesson with dog trainer, Jim Kats, to help Sarge (and his new family) start off on the right paw!
