Story
Skylar is a handsome boy with a big personality and an even bigger zest for life! This happy, fun-loving guy has a bit of that classic shepherd intensity — sometimes a little frantic and all over the place — but it all comes from pure excitement and enthusiasm. Skylar is very energetic and would thrive in an active home that can keep both his body and mind busy. He loves to move, explore, and be part of the action. Despite his high energy, he knows his basic commands and is very well potty trained. He’s friendly, eager, and always ready for whatever adventure comes next. With structure, exercise, and plenty of positive outlets for his energy, Skylar will make an incredibly loyal and entertaining companion. All dogs and puppies come spayed and neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fees are $75.00 for adult dogs and $100.00 for puppies at the time of adoption. Our adoptions are done by approved applications, so you must apply and be approved before being able to meet any of our dogs or puppies. To be approved, you can apply online at: https://www.storycountyiowa.gov/1486/Adoption-Application or you can apply in person. Applications can take a few business days to be approved and you will be emailed with communications regarding your application.

Story
Meet Stella! This bright, outgoing girl has so much love and talent to offer. She’s incredibly sweet, fully housetrained, and impressively smart — she knows more than basic commands and can even walk confidently on a treadmill! Stella loves enrichment activities and would make a fantastic working dog or adventure companion for someone who enjoys keeping a clever pup engaged. Stella gets along well with other dogs and enjoys having friends, though any home with an existing pet will need slow introductions and a few meet-and-greets to make sure everyone is a good match. Once Stella knows her people, she becomes deeply loyal and protective, so she’ll thrive best in an adult-only home with someone who understands and appreciates her guardian nature. Playful and energetic, she’s always ready for walks, training sessions, and mental challenges. With the right structure and guidance, Stella will blossom into an incredible partner who gives her whole heart to her person. Her adoption fee includes her spay, vaccines, microchip, and additional treatments. If you’re looking for a smart, devoted dog who’s eager to learn and bond deeply, Stella might be the perfect fit — come meet her and see what a special girl she is!

Story
- Prefers to explore and do their own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once they're in a home environment and have had time to decompress - Enjoys spending time with dogs who have a similar play style - Smart boy who knows sitAll adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Tan Weight: 60 Age: 7yrs 1mths 3wks

Story
Meet Buster – a sweet, not so graceful pup ! (Buster is currently living with his foster family in Texas, he will be transported through PFR when he is adopted) Buster is a handsome pup with a wonderfully laid-back personality. This sweet boy is a bit of a gentle goof—sometimes clumsy, always endearing—and he’s guaranteed to make you smile. He loves to wrestle and play with one of his brothers, but when it’s time to relax, Buster is happy to just hang out and soak up affection. Buster is currently working on his basic commands and is eager to learn with a patient, loving family. He, his momma, and siblings were left to fend for themselves on the streets of a small rural Texas town until a kind couple took them in and gave them safety and care. Now Buster is ready for a forever home where he can continue to grow, learn, and be loved. If you’re looking for a sweet, easygoing pup with a big heart and a silly side, Buster may be your perfect match.
