Story
You won't find a more handsome, intelligent or silly boy than Sidney. He is about 3.5 years old and weighs 84 lbs. Sidney is a very intelligent fellow, he learns quicky and is anxious to please. He will do well with a job and/or a lot of stimulation, long walks and hikes. He will do well with an experienced dog person. Sidney loves meeting new people. He has done well with large dogs he has met, however he is would not be good with small dogs or cats. Sidney does show some barrier reactivity, however, when the barrier is removed (whether it is a crate, fence or car window) he shows absolutely no issues. Because Sidney likes a lot of activity, he will need a securely fenced yard (must be a physical fence, not an electric or invisible system) He is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and on monthly treatment for flea/ticks and heartworm prevention Sidney is currently located in the Middle TN area but transport is included in the adoption fee for approved adopter If you are interested in Sidney, email rookiesrescue@yahoo.com for an application

Story
Our poor girl Salem is still waiting for a home after 8 long years. Though she can be shy at first, she longs to be someone’s loyal guardian, hiking partner, and best friend. Despite her severe hip dysplasia, she’s very active and LOVES to run. She’s so playful and full of life. Her inner puppy comes out when she gets to play with toys! Salem also loves cooler weather, though she can deal with summer heat by playing in the water. She’s great with other dogs, and loves to play with them! She’s amazing on and off leash. Salem is our special girl and we’d love to see her in a home where she can live comfortably and happily for her forever.

Story
Black Dog and Mystery need a home where their special bond will be accepted with open arms! They are a bonded pair that must stay together! Mystery, as her name implies, baffles us with her odd ways and behaviors. Though she loves our company and spending quality time with us, she doesn’t like physical affection and is terrified in new situations. Black Dog is her rock. They spend every moment together. Black Dog is a lazy guy, though he loves leisurely walks and exploring. Mystery is a bit more active and playful— she LOVES playing fetch! Black Dog does need a healthier diet and exercise balance that is hard to require in a shelter. We are trying though! Though Mystery is odd, she’s such a great dog and will make you laugh! These two have a lot of love to give and are waiting for their home. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Black Dog and Mystery, please email wynnefoa@gmail.com We'd prefer them to be the only dogs in the home just because they share such a strong bond!

Story
Charcoal is a 9-month-old female German Shepherd with a big heart and an even bigger personality once she feels comfortable. This sweet girl loves attention and bonding with her people, though she can be a bit shy with strangers at first and may need a little time to warm up. Once she does? Her goofy side and sassy attitude come shining through.Charcoal is an active young dog who will thrive with someone who enjoys an active lifestyle or has a secure, fenced-in yard where she can burn off energy and have fun. She loves other dogs and enjoys playtime, and she can be a little vocal when she’s playing, which just adds to her charm.Because she’s still learning and gaining confidence, we recommend no young children for Charcoal. She would do best in a home that understands her shepherd smarts, gives her patience, structure, and plenty of love.If you’re looking for a sweet, playful, slightly sassy companion who will be incredibly loyal once she trusts you, Charcoal might just be your perfect match.

Story
Meet Japan! Japan is a gentle, sweet, and mellow boy who joined us as a puppy from Alabama. Naturally shy at first, he’s been blossoming in foster care and it’s been truly special to watch his confidence grow. Every new experience helps him come a little more out of his shell—and he’s doing great navigating the world at his own thoughtful pace. Japan would thrive in a home with another friendly dog to help show him the ropes and boost his confidence. He’ll need a bit of patience and gentle encouragement at first, but the payoff is huge. He’s already doing wonderfully with leash walking and recently impressed everyone at the vet by being an absolute angel during his blood work. At 8 months old and a petite 30 pounds, Japan likely won’t grow much bigger—perfectly sized for adventures and cozy couch time alike. He loves playing with toys, and seeing his playful personality emerge more each day is pure joy. And while he’s learning to trust the world, one thing is already clear: he adores his foster dad and bonds deeply with his people. Japan is looking for a calm, loving home that will celebrate his progress, build his confidence, and let him continue becoming the wonderful dog he’s meant to be.
