Story
My name is Bella Mia and as you can see, I am a beautiful golden girl that smiles and welcomes everyone I meet with an open heart of friendship.  I am a German Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix that is obviously going to be large and just bigger to love.  They say I was born around February 11, 2023 and for sure I am still very much a puppy even though I weigh 76 pounds.  They whisper behind my back and say that “she is a very smart girl” and that makes me want to be even smarter.  I try to keep my sweet personality showing out there 24/7 even though I am competing for attention from my other large and in charge siblings.  I am learning things but my foster family is busy and they are just maintaining good care for me and my large siblings.  I have energy to burn and I need a fenced yard to run in and someone that will focus on teaching me.  I need a loving and training oriented family who loves to bring a dog from A to Z status.  I survived a very tough start in life and am one of 12 siblings.  Only six of us survived.  I like fun, lots of activity and the hustle and bustle of family.  I need a fenced yard that is 6 ft. tall and it would be best to have me with children who are over 8 years of age because of my large exuberant size.  I am a well-rounded girl that will make your home much more Fun and loving.  If you are interested in making me a part of your life, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 23, 2024, 4:30 pm

Story
Easy Ryder is like his name, an 'easy'  two year old German Shepherd boy that would love to join Peter Fonda on a motorcycle ride.  This boy loves to go, go, go and he's a ton of fun and a super  playful boy.  He is good with children, other dogs, but no cats unfortunately.  He’s a great car “rider”, loves his walks, and he loves hiking into the mountains.  He’s 70 pounds of all muscle, great health and good hips.  No issues whatsoever with health or dog habits and is UTD on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, HW prevention. He’s one healthy lover of a dog. Please contact ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.  He's in Tennessee but can transport north.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 23, 2024, 4:30 pm

Story
Active Axel is a handsome golden male German Shepherd/ Great Pyrenees mix who was born on February 11th, 2023 and is still a puppy in every way. He is one of six siblings that survived from a litter of 12. Our guy Axel weighs approximately 90 lbs, and is very GSD smart loving to be next to his humans.  This huge puppy is full of energy and he will fit perfectly in a home where there is a lot of activity, a fenced yard and people who love the BIG DOGS! He really likes walking, hiking, and just a ton of fun with activity. He also loves water and treats the water trough as his own personal spa. We recommend a home with a fence that is a minimum of 5 feet tall.   We do not suggest he go to a home with small children, or farm animals simply because he has no experience with them.  He hangs with his siblings and does well playing with them and also just enjoying their company.  He does need to eat separately for dinner as he protects his food from the other dogs due to early starvation. Handsome Axel is fully vetted, neutered and microchipped and he is kennel and crate trained for quiet time.  This boy needs some time and attention from a caring and dog savvy owner.  He would love to cuddle with you and be your adored companion.  He has such potential…..such love and such a need to grow and evolve into a fine companion in life.  Please email us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested in this big baby!  PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 23, 2024, 4:30 pm

Story
Look at this gorgeous German Shepherd mix boy named Trent and don’t take your eyes off of him because he is a WINNER!  This boy is only 7 months old and weighs 42 pounds and was found with his brother and sister as abandoned pups in a very rural area right on a highway.  They were in great danger.  Trent is around children, other dogs and would be fine with cats as well.  This boy is shy and has not had many worldly experiences up till now.  If you have looked for a special German Shepherd to rescue then this boy is the one to help!  He will be a 75 pound boy when fully grown and we feel he is 80% Shepherd if not 100%.  We just don’t know for sure. This boy is not housebroken…never been inside to have the chance…he is loving…he is handsome and calm and has all the potential in the world to be a wonderful family companion. Do you want to rescue a dog?   Well Trent most certainly needs someone to finish the task that Critter Cavalry Rescue started.  Please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 23, 2024, 4:30 pm

Story
Brock is a very handsome German Shepherd mix pup that is guessed to be a 6 month old that weighs 42 pounds.  This boy was found with his siblings with an apparent abandonment that took place near a busy rural highway.  They were in such danger of getting run over as they wondered aimlessly looking for food and friendships from people.  Brock is smart, loving and very open to being friends with all other creatures and humans.  He has a happy personality and  his foster mom is trying to teach him leash manners, shaking hands, sitting and just being a mannerly teenage pup.  This boy is destined to be a 75 boy we believe and he will be one HANDSOME family member with good looks and brains to match.  Good with cats, dogs, and children!   Step up and claim this German Shepherd mix boy. We are not sure if his ears will reach the full attention  of standing up but they sure are trying hard!!!!   Write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 23, 2024, 4:30 pm

Story
At just 8 months old, Harris, a stunning German Shepherd puppy, has already faced challenges most of us can hardly imagine. Found as a stray and on the brink of an untimely end in the euthanasia room, Harris's fate took a miraculous turn when he was saved at the last possible moment. This act of kindness has given him a second chance at life, one he so richly deserves. Harris's journey from the streets to the safety of the shelter has been nothing short of extraordinary. Despite his unsettling start, his spirit remains unbroken. When you approach his kennel, you're greeted by a wagging tail, squinty eyes, and low ears—a testament to his gentle and hopeful nature. He may be a bit hesitant at first, as he follows treats and leads with a bit of uncertainty, but his willingness to trust and love again shines through his cautious demeanor. Once out of his kennel and given a moment to adjust, Harris shows his true colors. He's a puppy who craves affection and interaction, albeit on his terms as he warms up to new surroundings and people. The shelter staff has made sure he receives extra enrichment, helping him to build confidence and prepare for a life outside the shelter walls. Adopting Harris means welcoming a companion who has seen the darker side of life but remains optimistic about the future. He'll need patience, love, and understanding as he adjusts to his new home, but the rewards will be immeasurable. With time, Harris will transform from a cautious puppy into a loyal and loving member of your family, grateful for the second chance you've given him. If you're ready to be the hero in Harris's story and give him the loving forever home he deserves, please contact us to learn more about the adoption process. Together, we can give Harris the life he was meant to live, full of love, safety, and endless tail wags. We believe strongly in crate training your new arrival and keep the crate up so your pupper has their safe place, of course, their safe place should be full of dog beds, pillows and blankies. Pet insurance is required prior to pick up, please make sure you calculate this into your monthly expenses we recommend Trupanion Why Trupanion? 1) Coverage for all new injuries and illnesses 2) They pay directly to the hospital or facility 3) Unlimited payout for the lifetime of your pet. Please send a copy of your policy to deb@pawsfromafar.org Paws From Afar believes that all dogs should have adventures as often as possible, they need a change of scenery, smellery, new paths to explore or oceans to swim in.  Harris is up-to-date on all vaccines and will be altered when he arrives to you his adoption fee is $500. If the pup is still listed, then they are still available. Keep in mind that we bring our dog up from the south and if you require a meet and greet, we are not the right rescue for you, we are happy to put you in touch with the pups fosters prior to adoption.   To submit your adoption application please go to pawsfromafar.org PLEASE DO NOT SEND AN I'M INTERESTED NOTE, APPLY INSTEAD, WE LOVE SEEING YOUR APPLICATIONS! ##1981005##

Story
Sophie, a wonderful dog, brings joy with her playful nature and loyal companionship. Regrettably, due to significant life changes, I must find her a new home. While she's loving, Sophie exhibits behavioral concerns stemming from her protectiveness of her territory. Upon encountering strangers, she barks and growls until assured of their welcome. Occasionally, she has charged at individuals, albeit returning when called. Sophie thrives with large dogs and cats but may play too vigorously. Her fondness for food leads to occasional table scavenging or food snatching. Though she's good with children, her behavior prompts caution. I seek a patient owner or couple, childless preferably, willing to invest time in training and provide ample space for her energetic play.

Story
Unfortunately we have come to the long and super hard conclusion that we need to rehome our beloved Waylon. Waylon is an amazing dog in so many ways however has not been able to conquer being around children. While I had hoped that with my own child he would be different, he has exhibited fear aggression and has growled several times from behind gates from our baby. Due to his size we are not able to test further or safely. It has taken a year for us to come to this conclusion so it’s not been taken lightly. Because our baby is now super mobile Waylon has spent the last few months gated away from our family and/or outside and it’s not at all the life he deserves. I can’t imagine him having to live like this for 6-8 more years. He deserves so much love and attention, he used to be the center stage and things have completely changed, my heart breaks for him constantly.

Story
GSD/Husky/Lab/Catahoula mixFour year old Dexter W. is a mixture of Labrador, GSD, Husky and Catahoula. His former owner’s parents have recently taken him in and he is just too much dog for them. They describe him as “a fun, smart and energetic companion. He loves to be near us and is a loyal best friend who loves to play.”  They believe he would be best with a family with older children or a family of young adults because of his energy level.  He has never been around cats.
