Story
We got Perrin in December 2017 at 8 weeks old. Pure bred German Shepard. We are now pregnant and while he is good with our niece, in addition to our other dog, Perrin is too high energy with visitors and barking. It will be too overwhelming with a baby for us. He is 7 years old this August. He was professionally trained as a puppy. He does well with his basic commands. We have a shock collar we rarely use. Treats do the trick if we need him to do something. He does good with our other dog and other family members dogs but he is not the biggest fan of other dogs/ dog parks. He takes time to warm up and dog parks are overwhelming for him. He took like 30 min with our other dog and then was great! He is a big cuddle bug and loves new toys. He’s great on walks with not pulling. Perrin also has EPI so he requires pancreatic powder in his food every day. About $50/month maybe. We get the prescription through chewy pharmacy.

Story
Maya is on the search for her fur/ever family. She’s the sweetest girl!! We believe she’s around 1 1/2 years old, and we suspect some sort of Shepherd mix, but don’t know fully what she is. We do know she is 100% adorable and sweet. She loves everyone she meets and seems to be quite dog friendly. She does need help with some basic obedience, and not jumping up, but is eager to learn so with some training classes she should have that habit stopped in no time. Maya does seem to love having her people home, but has gotten much better about settling her in cage. With the help of our supporters, we do have a special heavy duty cage to order for her future foster/fur-ever family.   An approved adoption application is required. The $300 adoption fee (payable by cash or check only) includes spay/neuter; microchip; dental teeth cleaning (if needed prior to adoption); vaccinations; heartworm and tick disease testing; fecal w/ giardia testing, monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention . Our adoption application may be found by going to: www.headinhomerescue.org; then click on the link to the adoption application. Dogs for adoption may be seen by appointment only following an approved application. Proof of completion of an obedience class is required for all dogs following adoption. Please note: while we welcome out of state applications, we do not ship our animals and require adopters to come to Holland to finalize any adoption.May 11, 2024, 4:17 pm

Story
Do you have an “empty nest”? Are you looking for some handsome boy companionship? Great news, your search is over! In addition to my very dapper good-boy looks, I am also an avid ball player and dignified goofball. You may be thinking how in the world I can posses such conflicting personality traits...well I am definitely very regal in my looks and initial demeanor...but once I let my hair down (the shed is real, am I right?) and create a bond with my person, I reveal my more quirky attributes! I love being outdoors; you could even say that I am easily amused. Whether it be playing fetch to my heart's desire or going for a long trail walk (I would probably make a pretty good jogging buddy too). If you have a boat with an empty seat, count me in because I LOVE to swim! Being a German Shepherd, I am one of the 'brighter crayons in the box'. In my free time I like to work with the staff and volunteers to brush up on my basic command skills. They are always telling me what a smart guy I am! Well...I assume that's what they are saying, judging by the treats they give me, I am doing good! Proper introductions to establish a trusting, positive, first impression is a must with me. I am an old fashioned kind of guy. I know I am irresistibly handsome, but I appreciate getting to know each other before getting all touchy-feely. Because of this, I would be happiest in a home without children (or other wondering hands). I do love affection and a good ear rub....but a mutual respect needs to be established first. I also want to be your only side-kick, I am not a social butterfly with other pets, I would much rather hangout with just my person. I have a pretty strong prey drive to keep the stray cat and pesky squirrels out of our yard too....A job I take very seriously. If you are in the market for a dashing side-kick to rid the yard of vermin, submit your adoption application at the website below to see if we are a match! D.O.B 3/30/17 For safety's sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas. Please fill out our online adoption survey at www.mackenzies.info/adopt/adoption-survey-application/

Story
They call me Snickers because I am a snack. Bonus: I am health and diet friendly! I might not taste like the candy (it is not advised to test that), but I am as good as one! I will even keep you into fitness going for walks; a pleasure you don’t have to feel guilty about! Not only am I friendly on your physique, I am friendly in general. A real people dog that is happy to say hello to everyone around! All my friends at MAS say I’m a real down to earth pooch (they’re so sweet…like candy). It’s been a treat hanging out and making friends with everyone here, but I am ready for my forever home life. I don't care much for furry friend companionship though. I would be much happier as your one and only fur baby. All you have to do now is submit your adoption application at the website below to get the ball rolling and come meet me. Remember, Snickers satisfies! DOB: 11/8/2017 For safety's sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas.
