Story
I have had Kratos since he was a puppy. I left an abusive home about 7 months ago and during the transition, he stayed with my ex until I got my own place. I have been at my current apartment with him for 4 months and the adjustment has not gone well. He does not get along with other dogs, and I live in a very dog friendly community. I am unable to take him for walks due to the high traffic of dogs. He also loves to have a yard and here he just has my small apartment with no yard. I am trying my hardest to find him a good home where he can have room to roam and be a dog. I had a behaviorist look at him and she said he is fearful and with training he could be fine with other dogs. I currently do not have the funds to train him. He did grow up in a home with another dog and has been around my parent's dog as well (he had good and bad days with their dog). He is very loving and cuddly and loves to play fetch. Overall he is a great, goofy, and loyal family dog.

Story
Maizey Female German Shepherd/Pitbull Mix 1 year old Meet Maizey, the sweetest and most loving girl! This playful, affectionate pup is full of personality and joy, and she's ready to find a family of her very own. She would thrive in a fenced-in yard where she can run her heart out and play to her heart's content. Fetch is her absolute favorite game - she could play all day long if you let her! She also enjoys chewing on her nylabone, splashing around in water, and even chasing the sprayer hose. Whether she's zooming around outside, playing with other dogs, or hopping in the car for an adventures, she's always up for fun! At home, Maizey is a big cuddler who just wants to be close to her people - touching you, leaning on you, or snuggling right up beside you. She's guaranteed to make you laugh with her silly antics, like chasing her tail in endless circles or being goofy with her toys. Because she can get a little enthusiastic with her affection, she'd do best in a home without small children, just to make sure she doesn't accidentally knock them over. She also has some herding breed in her and tends to try and herd them. She bonds deeply with her people and would love a family where someone is home more often. While she may get a little sad when left alone, she's never destructive or naughty - just a loyal pup missing her favorite humans. Smart, inquisitive, and eager to please, Maizey listens so well and has so much love to give. She's not just a dog - she's a best friend, a sidekick, and a source of endless joy. Maizey was originally adopted from us as a puppy. She was returned after a year in her home because the family felt she wasn't a great fit for them. Because of this and to ensure Maizey gets the right fit, her new home needs a fenced-in yard, older children and someone who can handle a high-energy dog. She will need someone wiling to exercise her, play with her, take her to doggy daycare - whatever needs to be done to get her energy out. If she doesn't have this release, she can become frustrated. Maizey is spayed and microchipped. She will be up to date on vaccines and a hw test before being adopted. If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting Maizey, fill out an online application at figandfriendspetrescue.org/adopt.

Story
Nala is our 5-year-old fur baby, adopted at 6 months. She’s grown up with our other pets, but over the past year we’ve seen troubling aggresive behavior: at times she unexpectedly reacts negatively towards the cats and our other dog. It’s heartbreaking to watch her shift between her sweet nature and sudden aggression. She also growls/snarls at my kids’ friends and at my elderly father, though she has never bitten anyone. The aggression is sudden and quick. Never lasting more than a minute or two. Then she is back to normal. With our children, Nala is gentle, loving, and snuggly. She walks well on a leash, enjoys relaxing on furniture, and loves spending time in our fenced yard, though she may bark excitedly and jump on adult visitors. She has occasional ear infections and an occasional limp. Deciding to part with her is incredibly hard. She’s more than a pet—she’s family. Sadly, we can’t afford the training and support she needs to thrive, and we want the best possible future for her.

Story
Meet Mesha 🐾 Mesha is a beautiful German Shepherd/Husky mix who will be turning 2 years old on Christmas Eve. She is sweet, silly, affectionate, and full of playful energy. She loves walks, playtime, and being near the people she trusts. Mesha is deeply loyal and protective of her home and family. She does well with the children who visit our home and with the dogs she currently lives with, though slow and thoughtful introductions are important. With new people, Mesha can be cautious at first and needs patience, consistency, and time to feel comfortable. She would do best in an experienced home familiar with working or high-energy breeds, one that understands trust takes time and is willing to guide her calmly and confidently. Once she feels safe, Mesha is incredibly loving and devoted. She deserves a home where she will be respected, supported, and truly cherished.

Meet Captain Jack Sparrow! Raise the sails and batten down the hatches, because Captain Jack Sparrow has arrived. This one-year-old German shepherd is a swashbuckling mix of handsome, hyper, and hilariously charming. Legend says he can spot a new best friend from a mile away and will absolutely sprint over to prove it. Jack is a sweet boy with energy levels that could power an entire ship. He’s still learning his manners, but he’s clever and eager, and he’d love a crew willing to help him polish his skills. A family who enjoys adventure, training time, and possibly the occasional treasure hunt would be perfect for him.
