You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Marshall County Humane Society is now  following CDC guidelines for Covid-19 in order to keep everyone as safe as possible.  We are showing dogs and cats to prospective adopters, but only on the grounds outside our shelter. We will need appointment to show the animal and we will want to have social distancing of 6' while you are there and we are wearing masks.  We are doing Zoom interviews to see inside of your home since we aren't going into homes for home visit. We do come to your home before finalizing adoption to check  the security of your fence if you are adopting a dog.  Our dogs are given much care and attention and we treat every medical need of animal once we take them in.  MCHS is a limited intake adoption center. We are an all volunteer, non-profit organization. All of our animals are disease free, have been spayed/neutered and are up to date on shots. We charge a Dog adoption fee of $125 which includes a microchip. Our Cat adoption fee is $75.00. Most of our dogs will require a fenced yard. COMET IS IN HIS FOSTER HOME IN MEMPHIS, TN!    GSD lovers, check out Comet! He's a beautiful, young German Shepherd most likely under a year old. He is inquisitive, playful, incredibly smart, and food driven. He's done very well in training. He is crate trained, leash trained, and potty trained. He is good with kids and other dogs with a proper introduction. Comet needs a family that will pick up where the foster family leaves him in terms of training and *continues* that with him. Comet would not be good for a first-time dog owner; he needs a home that can fulfill him with walks, training, and enrichment toys! He's an incredibly loving dog and would do best with another dog friend in the home to run and play with. He is such a fun dog to play with, train, and scratch behind his massive ears.   He is fully vetted including neuter, microchip, and all shots including rabies shot. His adoption fee is $225. Meet me at PetSmart #2087 in Memphis, Tn. 5883 Poplar Ave Saturday, September 16th from 11am to 2pm! Shepherd Girl was running stray in the Olive Branch area for weeks. One of her frequent visits was to the food panty and the volunteers there asked for help. We set a trap for her and within hours she was safe off the old highway. After a few days to settle in we were able to get her into boarding and set up her spay. She is now spayed, microchipped, current on all her vaccines and preventatives. Sadly, she did test light positive for heartworms. She started her 2nd round of doxycycline regimen and is continuing with advantage multi monthly. Shepherd Girl is about 3 years old but has the energy of a young pup. Although she was very scared when she first arrived, she is now very confident with herself and inside the foster home. She does well on leash walking but is always anxious to get back inside. I guess I would be that way too if I had been roaming the old highway looking for a safe place to stay. We hope that she can find a home that will be patient with her and help her fit into their routine. She is kennel trained and will let you know when she needs to go out to potty. Rain is truly a wonderful dog! You know the expression "right as rain"? It means safe and comfortable after a bad experience. That describes her perfectly! Rain was a last minute rescue from Memphis Animal Services and was scheduled to be euthanized, but her foster mom, with the full support of Team Memphis Rescue, saved her. Rain was once rambunctious and unsure of herself when she was first rescued. But she is smart and learns quickly. She now knows several commands ("sit", "lay down", "crate") , is crate-trained and house-trained. She gets along well with the other dogs in the home, but likes to chase the cats - so cats are not recommended. She loves her chew toys and enjoys running and playing in her yard. She is learning leash manners and doing well. Rain is about a year old - healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, on Heartworm and flea/tick treatment and microchipped.. She is a HAPPY, HAPPY pup! Her ideal family should be active and enjoy the outdoors, a family that will include her in their adventures. Children are OK if older, since she is a larger dog. Bonus points if you let her sleep with you too - she loves to snuggle! Her DNA test is pending, so her bio will be updated with that information soon!
