Story
This sweet man loves to relax and lounge around. He does have a quirk though--he holds his paw up when he walks at times. He was checked out by the vet, and it was confirmed there's nothing physically wrong, it is neurological. It has been noted that he was having Grand-mal seizures at night but has since been put on medication that seems to have stopped them. The Shelter will pay for his treatment for the first few months, so he will need to continue to see our vet at the Shelter's cost. He is a lowkey, loving boy who needs the right home. Call or email us today at 901-757-7358 or animalshelter@germantown-tn.gov with inquiries. All animal adoptions are $80. For dogs, this includes the first series of vaccinations, deworming, spay/neuter, heartworm testing and heartworm preventative. For cats, this includes the first series of vaccinations, deworming, spay/neuter and feline AIDS/leukemia testing. Any questions should be directed to shudson@germantown-tn.gov. Or, call the shelter at 901-757-7358.

Story
Meet Nick! Nick and his siblings are adorable shepherd/lab mix pups ready to find loving forever homes! Nick is the smallest of the three male pups at 23 pounds currently. They have one female sibling who is even more petite! He is almost 6 months old (born early June), playful and ready for training to be the best dog he can be! Don't let this cutie pie grow up in foster! He needs to get into a home! Nick is up to date on shots, neutered, and micro chipped. If you are living in a condo or apt and have weight restrictions on pets please be aware that we can not guarantee adult size! Nick is currently in TN but will be transported north to New England for adoption. The adoption donation is $400 which includes a health certificate and costs for the transport north. If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please go to www.angelsamongusanimalrescue.org and fill out an online adoption application. Thank you! *Unless stated otherwise, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, on flea/tick product and heartworm prevention medicine (if older than 5 months) and micro chipped prior to adoption. *Please note that while we do our best to accurately state the breed or breed mix of a dog, we often have very limited information to draw from. Identifying the breed without pedigrees and information on heritage can be very challenging! Massachusett's Residents: Effective September 28, 2017 a Quarantine Fee of $100 will be required (in addition to the adoption fee) to adopt a dog that has been Quarantined. Massachusetts mandates that all dogs entering MA shall be quarantined for 48 hours in a state approved facility.

Story
Meet Margot!! Margot is an 8-9 months old Australian Kelpie or Shepherd mix with a sweet disposition. She loves toys and LOVES the water. This girl could swim or splash in a puddle all day. Currently weighs 25lbs, she is expected to be around 35-40lbs fully grown. We know she is a mix due to her smaller size but her demeanor is all Shepherd. She was found at 5 months as a stray, so training was late in her development. She is working hard on potty training. This little girl is very smart and loyal, she will be attached to her person. Hopping in the car, going on walks, laying next to you while you cook dinner- she wants to be with her people. And she loves dogs and kids! Prefers women, but if patient man that can give her a week or so to learn to trust him. Margot is crate trained, knows basic commands and walks well on a leash. She also has good recall so she does well off leash too. She has puppy energy and needs at least two walks a day. We think she would do best with another dog but could do fine as an only pet as well. She is best suited for an experienced dog owner. Margot, is healthy, up to date on shots and is spayed. Margot is located in New England and ready as can be to head to her new home! The adoption donation is $400 . If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please go to www.angelsamongusanimalrescue.org and fill out an online adoption application. Thank you!

Story
Roo is a beautiful, friendly & playful German Shepherd who had a rough start when rescued from the shelter. After lots of love and TLC, she is now a dainty princess through and through! Her favorite things are pets, toys/chews and car rides. She is a dream in the house-perfectly house trained, doesn't mind the crate (helps if she has a friend in another crate so she knows she's not alone), doesn't get on furniture until she has been invited and sleeps soundly wherever you ask her to. At her foster home, Roo has never stolen or chewed anything that didn't belong to her. She is eager to please and easily, gently corrected if she grabs something she shouldn't (she knows how to trade up). No harsh corrections needed for this sensitive girl. Appreciated by the less athletic among us is her funny, almost clumsy nature! Having likely missed out on a real puppy hood, she is making up for it now like a puppy in a big body, and she loves running, chasing and playing keep away with her canine pals. She's still working on her jumping skills and she isn't big on fetch - she seems to wonder why you would do such a thing! She also enjoys tattling on her Lab foster brother when he's into mischief or pulling him around by the neck when he won't listen. They are best buds and playl well together all day - she seems to love the bigger male, rowdy friends the most. She still needs some work with leash walking without pulling but with some experience and practice she will catch on. But more than anything, Roo loves her people. She would stand for hours with her head in your lap and let you pet her head if you would and she will snuggle next to you on the couch (or, hilariously, stand on the couch with her head in your lap) forever. She instantly bonded with her foster family like she has always known them, and they know that she will be a loyal companion and perfect family member for anyone searching for their perfect family dog.

Story
Deacon, a young, approximately 1-2 year old German Shepherd dog, was rescued as a stray in Holly Springs, MS right before an ice storm in early 2023. His rescuer fostered him initially and had this to say about him: Deacon is a loving dog with a heart of gold! While he was a little shy when first rescued, he has since blossomed into a fun-loving pup in the loving care of his foster home. He loves his people, often hugging them to let them know how much! He can take a few minutes to warm up, but once he feels safe, he's yours forever! He loves feeding time and treats, playing with toys and sticks (also toys)! Deacon is great with kids, as young as 2 years of age. He seems to love dogs of all sizes and attitudes! This is an all-around wonderful dog!! If you want to provide this deserving boy a good loving home, please get your application in! Deacon has since completed a "board & train" program at Veteran K9 and did exceptionally well. He loves other dogs, knows several commands and is ready for a family of his own. He is neutered, microchipped, Heartworm Negative and on Heartworm/Flea/Tick prevention.

Story
Rain is truly a wonderful dog! You know the expression "right as rain"? It means safe and comfortable after a bad experience. That describes her perfectly! Rain was a last minute rescue from Memphis Animal Services and was scheduled to be euthanized, but her foster mom, with the full support of Team Memphis Rescue, saved her. Rain was once rambunctious and unsure of herself when she was first rescued. But she is smart and learns quickly. She now knows several commands ("sit", "lay down", "crate") , is crate-trained and house-trained. She gets along well with the other dogs in the home, but likes to chase the cats - so cats are not recommended. She loves her chew toys and enjoys running and playing in her yard. She is learning leash manners and doing well. Rain is about a year old - healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, on Heartworm and flea/tick treatment and microchipped.. She is a HAPPY, HAPPY pup! Her ideal family should be active and enjoy the outdoors, a family that will include her in their adventures. Children are OK if older, since she is a larger dog. Bonus points if you let her sleep with you too - she loves to snuggle! Her DNA test is pending, so her bio will be updated with that information soon!
