Story
Willow and Suki are two beautiful German Shepherds whose world has recently changed. Their owner is currently hospitalized with serious illness, and these loyal girls suddenly find themselves without the consistent care and companionship they have always known. They are being lovingly checked on and cared for daily, but they need a real home again; one filled with stability, love, and people who appreciate the incredible hearts German Shepherds have. Willow Age 10 Willow is the gentle, wise mother of the pair. At 10 years old, she is calm, steady, and deeply loyal. She has a sweet, nurturing personality and still enjoys being close to people she trusts. Willow is fully house‑trained, healthy, and has been a devoted companion all her life.

Story
Suki is Willow’s daughter — energetic, bright, and eager to bond. She is 4 years old, healthy, and also fully house‑trained. Suki is not yet spayed. Like her mom, she’s affectionate and attentive, and she loves interacting with older kids and adults. Willow and Suki’s owner is in the hospital and unable to return home or care for them. They are currently staying in the house by themselves, with someone visiting daily to feed them and let them outside. While they are safe and cared for, they deserve so much more — security, love, and a family who can give them the attention they thrive on. These sweet girls would flourish in a home where they can be loved, included, and treated as part of the family. Whether together or separately, they will make loyal and devoted companions for individuals, couples, or families who appreciate the intelligence and affection German Shepherds bring.

Story
Thunder is a fun loving, young shepherd mix who thinks he is a lap dog. Thunder has been here since he was just a tiny puppy, he spent several months growing up here at the shelter, until he was adopted earlier this year in July. Yesterday, he was unfortunately returned to the shelter. He was a puppy who had never been taught how to play with young children. He didn't know that he was supposed to be careful not to knock them down or that play-biting hurts. His return was not his fault. Now that he's back, he is extremely stressed out and we are praying that we can find him a loving home ASAP! Thunder is such a smart boy, very food motivated, his previous owners said he was potty trained and they crated him when no one was home to watch him. He walks well on a leash and does well with most other dogs too. He can sometimes be a bit shy at first, but once he warms up he is the sweetest, most loving boy! Please someone give him a chance.

Story
When we first got Jude, he was shockingly underweight. We placed him in a foster home to give him a chance to recuperate and gain weight away from the shelter environment. While he thrived there initially, he did have to come back to the shelter to address some underlying health concerns. Likely due the severity and length of time he suffered starvation, his bloodwork showed that he was in the early stages of kidney failure. While he no longer seems to exhibit symptoms after being on medication, the shelter environment makes it hard to be sure. This is why we are equally as happy to consider a temporary foster, a foster to adopt, or an adoptive home for Jude. To know more about the medical side of things or about any of the options we have available to place this dog, please call the shelter at (417) 591-2512 or email us at adopt.ffaa@gmail.com to discuss details. Jude has successfully lived in a foster home with another dog. He is extremely social with humans and has your typical shepherd personality. He is interested in toys, is very goofy and expressive, loves to lay across your lap, and is just a big ham. He potty trained fairly rapidly and well in his foster home, and we expect any family that takes him on next to find polishing his housetraining no big deal. Despite his initial malnutritioned state, he suprised us by taking treats incredibly gently, a testament to the sweet nature that he easily reveals. This overgrown puppy has a heart of gold and an adorable face - all he needs is a family to appreciate it.
