Story
Chilli is fostered in the Burlington area. Apply to adopt at rebeldogrescue.com*All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website.Meet Chilli! This sweet pup was found abandoned, tied to a bench at a park. Hes a sensitive, observant dog who prefers to take life at his own pace. For now, he is more cat-like in nature, as he chooses when to seek affection and does best with people who respect his boundaries. Once he feels safe, he enjoys quiet companionship - curling up nearby, following his people from room to room, and soaking up gentle pets on his own terms (especially during couch time). He would thrive in a calm, experienced home, ideally with another confident dog to show him the ropes. A fenced yard is important so he can safely burn off energy, as he may try to flee if startled. A quieter household suits him best right now.Despite his cautious side, hes a cheeky, intelligent, food-motivated pup who loves chewing, puzzle toys, frozen Kongs, and shredding cardboard. He learns routines quickly, picks up cues easily, and already knows a few basics like lie down and nose targeting. Hes curious, playful in his own way, and full of personality once you get to know him.Hes still building confidence and can get nervous with pressure or overstimulation, so patience and understanding will go a long way. In the right home, hell make a deeply rewarding companion for someone who appreciates a dog that bonds quietly, but genuinely.Name: ChilliBreed: Shepherd mix Age: ~7 months Weight: ~30lb and growing Sex: Male, neutered Colour: Black Medical: No concerns Good with men: Fearful but warms up with time Good with women: Fearful but warms up with time Good with kids 0-6: Unknown, not tested - suggest no Would you be comfortable placing this dog in a home with children? He would likely do best with older, calmer children (14+) who understand slow, gentle movements and how to manage play appropriately. Chilli can be nervous at first. When he does get comfortable and playful with his people - he does have a puppy tendency to nip you along in play, it's a work in progress but needs balancing with fixing the behaviour while not affecting his positive outlook on people that children may not fully understand. When the dog meets new people he...When Chili meets new people, he is cautious and a little shy. If given space and ignored at first, he will often approach to sniff, but may dart away if someone reaches down too quickly. Men entering the home can sometimes trigger fear barking and backing away. With gentle guidance to a safe space and the chance to observe interactions calmly, Chili will usually venture back for exploratory sniffs, and further barking is typically minimal.Good with dogs: Yes His ideal home will have another dog to help his confidence and show him the way How does this dog react to meeting new dogs? Nervous from a distance, but ready to play when closer. What type(s) of dogs does this dog prefer/be best with? He would benefit greatly from a happy go lucky confident adult dog that won't push him too hard in the beginning but can lead by example when meeting new people, going to new places etc.Do you suggest this dog has another dog in the home?Yes, I think he would benefit greatly from the right mentor dog.Good with Cats: Yes, lives with cats successfullyCrate training: Enters crate willingly, Settles after some barking/whiningHouse training: Almost perfectly house trained - about 90% thereResource Guarding : None seenWalks on a leash: Chilli can be a bit nervous and may need gentle coaxing at first, but he walks very well. He naturally stays close in a heel position, likely seeking safety from someone he trusts, and moves best when actively walking. He scans his surroundings and can startle at noises, but stopping can make him more nervoushis tail may tuck, and he may pause eating. He does especially well when walked alongside a confident dog, and has shown he can focus on cues, take treats, and even engage in short bursts of play in open spaces, which is very promising for his confidence and training.Energy level: Medium energy level. He enjoys regular exercise, adventures, and play, but also loves relaxing calmly at home. Walks and new experiences provide a lot of mental stimulation, and as he gains confidence, his energy and engagement may increase. He loves playtime, often outplaying his humans in the backyard, though he can get overstimulated and engage in barky or nippy play at times. At home, he may need help settling, mostly due to FOMO rather than misbehavior. When crated or safely penned with a chew or puzzle, he usually relaxes and often falls asleepsleep is very much encouraged for him!Areas to work on: Needs confidence building, Fearful of loud noises, Touch sensitivityWhat type of environments would NOT be suitable for the dog? Condo/apartment, Busy cityAny noted separation anxiety?NoBarker: Average - will bark when someone comes to the door, while playing, etc.

Story
Fostered in Guelph All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website.Stag and his littermate were found tied to a park bench. They were brought to a local shelter, and were rescued. Stag is a very sweet, smart, lovable boy. He has good food drive, has learned 'wait' for his food, his recall is improving (in the yard) and his housetraining is improving everyday. Stag enjoys the company of people, and loves to cuddle on the couch. He is generally quiet in his crate, provided he has had opportunity to burn off his puppy energy. He is fearful of loud noises/new environments, particularly on walks, and so will need a leader that will help him learn about the world. He is making progress every day! He is not reactive to dogs on walks, but is a bit nervous when dogs bark at him. His ideal home would be in a quieter area. He would also do best in a house with a yard, as he enjoys racing around and could do great with other backyard activities like playing with a flirt-pole. He needs a home where they will provide ongoing structure, socialization to new people/environments, and training so he can be the best boy.Stag Update from His Foster Mom After about two weeks in foster care, Stag is really starting to come out of his shell and show off his goofy, lovable personality. Hes still a bit nervous and cautious, but hes making progress every single day and its been so rewarding to watch.Stag conquered the stairs for the very first time and hes becoming more confident exploring his surroundings at his own pace. He absolutely loves romping around the backyard and has so much fun when he feels safe and comfortable. Walks are still a work in progress, as he remains quite nervous outside, but were taking things slow and letting him build confidence..Stag is truly such a good boy, and with the right adopter someone patient and understanding he is going to grow into an absolutely amazing dog . Hes very food- and toy-motivated, which has been a huge help with learning and bondingThis sweet pup has so much potential and so much love to give. He just needs the right home to help him continue to blossom Name: StagBreed: Shepherd mix Age: ~7 months Weight: ~30lb and growing Sex: Male, neutered Colour: Black Medical: No concerns Good with men: Yes, but shy and warms up quicklyGood with women: YesGood with kids 0-6: Unknown, not tested Met a baby and did greatGood with kids 7-15: Yes, has lived with children and does well - Stag is very people orientated and does well with children, overall. He seeks affection from them, and enjoys playing with them. No guarding noted. He can be nervous of quick movements/loud noises, but is getting better. He now typically will want to quickly return to the affection/play. Aggressive or fear based behaviours not observed. Would do best with dog-savvy children. When the dog meets new people he: Approaches cautiously, Wants affection, Loose body language, ShyGood with dogs: Yes, loves being around and playing with other dogsHow does this dog react to meeting new dogs? Very playful and outgoing, Loose body language, Jumpy/overly excited, SubmissiveWhat type(s) of dogs does this dog prefer/be best with? Stag has done well with the 2 resident dogs. He shows a lot of respect to my XL senior lab, who does not enjoy being jumped on. They can calmly co-exist, with some structure to ensure Stag does not get too unruly. He attempts to initiate play more with my younger resident Husky. Will respond to correction from her if his play style is too much. Needs to be structured to ensure his puppy antics do not become too much for older dogs.Good with Cats: Unknown, not testedCrate trained: yesHouse trained: YesResource Guarding: None seenWalks on a leash: Nervous and needs coaxingEnergy level: Medium-highAreas to work on: Needs confidence building, Fearful of loud noises, Excitability/jumping up on people, Walking nicely on a leashWhat type of environments would NOT be suitable for the dog? You: - Are patient, kind, and willing to work with a genetically shy/fearful dog. And won't go claiming "I'm an abused rescue", just to make excuses, cause I'm not! - Love to train, learn new things, and want to help me work on my confidence building! - Have a quieter household, with not too many comings and goings. - Love the outdoors and spending time in nature. - Will take the time to meet me a few times, so I become comfortable with you, before going home. - Maybe have an existing confident, neutral dog for me to learn from. Me: - Am very shy, but very sweet! I do my best to be brave! Once I am comfortable wirh you/the environment, I am very energetic! - Love hiking, playing in the water, and chasing my dog friends. But only structured play with known dogs please. No dog parks!! - Am a mix between cuddly, and wanting to just hang and chill. - Will bark at scary or unfamiliar things...and then run away. - Get a little car sick still (Cerenia is my friend!) - Am super handsome, and foster mom says I have the face of a panther! - Listen really well to foster mom, and she says I'm an easy keeper! - Might have a small heart issue, but causes me no problems, and I need no meds/surgery. - I haven't met a cat yet, but with proper training, should be fine! Both my adopted siblings live with cats! - Patient, gentle kids, that will respect a shy dog's boundaries, could become my new best friend! Story
Name: Fathom Breed: GSD x Farm Dog Mix DOB/Sex: Dec 22, 2023/FS Known Health Issues: Fathom had her hips xrayed at her spay Nov 2025. She needs a double hip replacement. THIS IS COMPLETELY COVERED WITH HER ADOPTION. Good With: Cats! Dogs! Kids! Fathom needs another dog in the home as she thrives with a well matched canine companion 😊 NO DOG PARKS. Fathom is a very sweet, active young girl, who is eager to find her forever family! Fathom loves the outdoors; hiking, running, and playing in the water! She is happy to go out in all weather, and thrives with regular outdoor adventures. Fathom and her siblings are slower to mature, and soft in temperament. They take time to form bonds, and trust. But once comfortable, they truly shine! Though she has just turned 2, she is much more 8 monthish in mental maturity. She has recently been discovering herself, and is enjoying a new level of confidence. Her drive is starting to come out, and she would benefit from a home that would continue to give her confidence building opportunities. She is full of potential, and with the right guidance, will be a very fun activity dog! At her recent spay, we did a routine hip xray. Unfortunately her hips aren't very good, and a bilateral hip replacement will be her best option to live a long, pain-free life. She is currently very comfortable, so my hope is that we can get her settled into her forever home, before starting her first surgery. This way she has a chance to adjust, build bonds, and be very comfortable with her new family. Otherwise this could potentially significantly delay her finding a family, as it would not be fair to her to move during recovery and rehab. As she is very comfortable at this time, there is no urgency in that sense. But a younger dog has an easier time healing and recovering than an older dog, so the benefit of doing the surgery now would allow her to move forward pain free and with the smoothest recovery. The rescue will 100% be there to support you during the process, and both hip surgeries are completely covered with her adoption. The surgeries will be performed by our wonderful orthopedic surgeon, Dr. John, at Caledon Mountain Veterinary Hospital. Fathom is a dog that very much enjoys the company of other dogs in a safe and structured environment. It helps her open up and feel a lot more comfortable, to the point where she requires another dog in the home to be considered for adoption. She does well with all ages, breeds, and both sexes. Although I always recommend not placing with the same sex close in age. As she is slow to mature, there's always a chance she develops a little less tolerance down the road, but so far she has been very social with proper boundaries and structure in place. Fathom is available to go to a home with children. As she is a soft dog, a calm home, with a lot of rules and boundaries in place is key. A loud, rambunctious home, would not be suitable for her. This is especially important for her upcoming recovery, post surgery. Fathom has the strongest prey-drive of her siblings. With her personality, she very much can still live with cats as long as the appropriate training is put in place. However if the appropriate training is not put in place, she absolutely will want to chase and that prey-drive will kick in. Please do not apply if you're not willing to actually put the training in. This is not a one and done situation. She has genetic instinct that will need to be properly managed. Fathom loves her toys, and is often found with a ball in her mouth! She takes great satisfaction in stuffy destruction, and loves a good nylabone chew. She is very goofy, playful, and makes me laugh all the time! Fathom has been a true joy, and is honestly the absolute sweetest girl. She bonds very hard, and very much wants your approval. The bond of a softer dog is like no other. You are their light, their world, and their everything. If you are ready to be her guiding light, enjoy regular training activities, and will give her continued life skills in order to succeed, build confidence, and enjoy the world, then please reach out. She deserves only the best! A few words from Adventure Team Member Nic who recently took her for a foster vacation: "Fathom is such a sweet girl! I got to hang with her for about two weeks and she was a wonderful houseguest. She started off timid, but every day there was substantial progress. While I wouldn’t let her off leash, we grew quite comfortable with each other over the 2 weeks and she would happily seek attention from me. She’s also a very clean girl- not a single accident! She also loves her crate, it’s her safe space. She is very well crate trained! She truly shines in the presence of other dogs. She loved playing with my dogs and other dogs at my work. She plays well, can take a correction, and is generally very submissive. She would do super well with any pup that wants to play! She’s also very respectful of boundaries, and didn’t bother my senior small breed dog. She was very happy to be wherever we are. She’s neutral in public and enjoyed our long trail walks! She’d love an active family, with a fur sibling to play with, and a comfy bed to lay on :) " If Fathom might be the one missing from your life, please apply here: https://form.jotform.com/233466598767073 **All Adopters are required to attend formal obedience classes upon adoption.** **All Adopters are required to obtain, and maintain pet insurance for their newly adopted companion.** ________________________________ Adoption through Inugoya includes: - the dog - All vaccinations & required boosters; DA2PPv, Bordetella, Lyme, Leptospirosis, and Rabies - 4DX Blood Test (Heartworm, Lyme Disease, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis) - Age appropriate wellness blood screen - Fecal test - Deworming & Flea/Tick/Heartworm prevention - Spay/Neuter - Microchip - Hip xray for all dogs that undergo anesthesia - All medical needs assessed and concluded. I'm looking for my forever family. Is that you? You: - Are looking for a very active canine companion. - Are patient, and enjoy building a relationship with your dog. - Are looking for a dog that has a "one person only" type personality - Have a house without frequent guests. - Enjoy the outdoors, hiking, and maybe some backyard canine sport activities. - Are comfortable advocating for my space and setting boundaries in public so I feel safe. Me: - I am aloof, and shy, and take time to get to know you. But once I do, I am VERY bonded, and will only have eyes for you! - Enjoy the company of maybe 1 or 2 select canine friends. I do not like pushy/in your face/rude dogs. Dogs that read and respect body language should be fine. - I love to RUN, and play, and go for hours! A walk around the block, or tossing a ball is not enough. I am also very smart! Mental engagement and training sessions are key to my happiness. - I am good in my crate, and appreciate a regular schedule. - I am very goofy, and make my foster mom laugh all the time! - I LOVE cuddles from my person! (I do NOT want to be touched by strangers, thank you). - I can be loud, and alert bark. But I am NOT a guard dog, and will run away. I can be a flight risk if spooked, especially before we are fully bonded. - I would not do well in a busy city/downtown. - I am very handsome, and look good in anything. - I have not yet met a cat, but with proper intros and training, I should be fine. 2 of my adopted siblings live with cats! - Kids that will respect my boundaries, and are calm, may be okay. If I might be your forever match, please reach out today! Name: Atlas Breed: German Shepherd Dog Sex/DOB: MN 2/22/22 Known Health Issues: None at this time. Good With: Confident, calm dogs, he is a hard dog to match energies with. Patient Teenagers, that can actively participate in his training, may be okay. Dog savvy cats and 110% commitment to training if he is to live with cats. He is very determined/grabby in his play. NO DOG PARKS. Hi, I'm Atlas! I'm looking for my forever home, is that you? You: - Are a very German Shepherd experienced owner, who has worked with working line style GSD's. - Are committed to and enjoy daily training and activities. You live the working dog lifestyle. - Are confident, calm, and patient with your handling skills. No alpha crap wanted, thank you. - Are a single person, or a small family that understands I am a one person dog, and will ensure everyone respects those boundaries. I would like to be put away for visitors, so a home without frequent guests is best. - Understand I am a fearful dog, and will struggle to be comfortable around you at first. You will be willing to meet me many times before I can go home with you. - You love the outdoors, and adventuring! Me: - I will only have eyes for you! I don't want or need other people in my life. - I want to do something with you always! If you work long hours, we won't be a match, but a regular work day is fine. As long as you have the time and energy for me once you get home! A walk around the block is NOT enough. - I want to play, and swim, and hike, and train! I have LOTS of energy. - I enjoy select dogs, but I have a hard time with impulse control and overarousal. I would be fine as an only dog as I really just want my person! - I love to use my mouth, as most GSD's do, but struggle with handler conflict/pressure. I'm working on it! - I am very athletic, and would love a home that would teach me canine sport activities. We don't have to compete, I just want to have fun with you! (I am not a bite sport candidate). - I want to play with everything, and enjoy eliciting squeals, so cats would be hard unless you are REALLY committed to training. I should NEVER be lose/unsupervised around them, or other small animals. - I am goofy, vocal, and get really excited when I see my mom! - Once I trust you, I am excellent for all handling, grooming, nails, the vet etc. - I am great in my crate, and the car! - I am very handsome! - I am very affectionate with my person! - I am pretty good with environmentals, and foster mom can take me everywhere! I have been waiting a very long time to find my forever person, but a new year is here. I'm hoping that it's you! Please send an application so that we can chat 🐾 ________________________________ Adoption through Inugoya includes: - the dog - All vaccinations & required boosters; DA2PPv, Bordetella, Lyme, Leptospirosis, and Rabies - 4DX Blood Test (Heartworm, Lyme Disease, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis) - Age appropriate wellness blood screen - Fecal test - Deworming & Flea/Tick/Heartworm prevention - Spay/Neuter - Microchip - Hip xray for all dogs that undergo anesthesia - All medical needs assessed and concluded.
