You: - Are patient, kind, and willing to work with a genetically shy/fearful dog. And won't go claiming "I'm an abused rescue", just to make excuses, cause I'm not! - Love to train, learn new things, and want to help me work on my confidence building! - Have a quieter household, with not too many comings and goings. - Love the outdoors and spending time in nature. - Will take the time to meet me a few times, so I become comfortable with you, before going home. - Maybe have an existing confident, neutral dog for me to learn from. Me: - Am very shy, but very sweet! I do my best to be brave! Once I am comfortable wirh you/the environment, I am very energetic! - Love hiking, playing in the water, and chasing my dog friends. But only structured play with known dogs please. No dog parks!! - Am a mix between cuddly, and wanting to just hang and chill. - Will bark at scary or unfamiliar things...and then run away. - Get a little car sick still (Cerenia is my friend!) - Am super handsome, and foster mom says I have the face of a panther! - Listen really well to foster mom, and she says I'm an easy keeper! - Might have a small heart issue, but causes me no problems, and I need no meds/surgery. - I haven't met a cat yet, but with proper training, should be fine! Both my adopted siblings live with cats! - Patient, gentle kids, that will respect a shy dog's boundaries, could become my new best friend! Name: Fathom Breed: GSD x Farm Dog Mix DOB/Sex: Dec 22, 2023/F Known Health Issues: None at this time. Good With: Cats! Dogs! Kids! NO DOG PARKS Hi, I'm Fathom! I'm looking for my forever family. Is that you? You: - Have a quite, calm home environment. - Enjoy working with shy dogs, and have the patience to build a relationship over many months. - Love the outdoors and adventuring! - Enjoy a dog that wants to be with you always, but respect they don't necessarily want physically restrictive embracing/hugs. - Enjoy building up a dog, and bringing out their inner spark. - live more rurally/in a quiet neighborhood. And have a secure, fenced area for me to exercise in. 6ft minimum. - Will not trap me by claiming my genetics are "an abused past", and give me the tools I need to grow everyday. - Have a well balanced dog in the home, that would pair well with a soft, shy, but sassy girl. Me: - I am shy, sweet, and like to take things slow. - Once I am comfortable though, I have a spicy side! I can be demanding and vocal for my needs, in a sassy way! - I am a flight risk, and a hard catch. I will NEVER go to a stranger. But I like routine, and minimal pressure, and will go back to my safe place if properly guided. - I love my crate, and the security it provides. I like routine and predictability. - I love to play, and run! I would prefer to go to a home with a canine friend. I take a lot of confidence and direction from their actions. I get along with most everyone, as long as they respect canine body language. - I still get car sick, so Cerenia is my friend. - I have not yet met a cat, but with proper training and guidance, should be fine. 2 of my adopted siblings live with cats! - Kids that respect boundaries, and personal space may be okay. Again, I am very shy, and don't like much physical contact. This is hard for many kids to understand. I seek coexistence. - My foster mom says I am a very special girl, with a warm light. I shine the brightest when my needs are respected. She hopes I will find someone willing to continue to give me a safe space in which to grow. I'm looking for my forever family. Is that you? You: - Are looking for a very active canine companion. - Are patient, and enjoy building a relationship with your dog. - Are looking for a dog that has a "one person only" type personality - Have a house without frequent guests. - Enjoy the outdoors, hiking, and maybe some backyard canine sport activities. - Are comfortable advocating for my space and setting boundaries in public so I feel safe. Me: - I am aloof, and shy, and take time to get to know you. But once I do, I am VERY bonded, and will only have eyes for you! - Enjoy the company of maybe 1 or 2 select canine friends. I do not like pushy/in your face/rude dogs. Dogs that read and respect body language should be fine. - I love to RUN, and play, and go for hours! A walk around the block, or tossing a ball is not enough. I am also very smart! Mental engagement and training sessions are key to my happiness. - I am good in my crate, and appreciate a regular schedule. - I am very goofy, and make my foster mom laugh all the time! - I LOVE cuddles from my person! (I do NOT want to be touched by strangers, thank you). - I can be loud, and alert bark. But I am NOT a guard dog, and will run away. I can be a flight risk if spooked, especially before we are fully bonded. - I would not do well in a busy city/downtown. - I am very handsome, and look good in anything. - I have not yet met a cat, but with proper intros and training, I should be fine. 2 of my adopted siblings live with cats! - Kids that will respect my boundaries, and are calm, may be okay. Story
Name: Atlas Breed: German Shepherd Dog Sex/DOB: MN 2/22/22 Known Health Issues: None at this time. Good With: Confident, calm dogs, he is a hard dog to match energies with. Patient Teenagers, that can actively participate in his training, may be okay. Dog savvy cats and 110% commitment to training if he is to live with cats. He is very determined/grabby in his play. NO DOG PARKS. Hi, I'm Atlas! I'm looking for my forever home, is that you? You: - Are a very German Shepherd experienced owner, who has worked with working line style GSD's. - Are committed to and enjoy daily training and activities. You live the working dog lifestyle. - Are confident, calm, and patient with your handling skills. No alpha crap wanted, thank you. - Are a single person, or a small family that understands I am a one person dog, and will ensure everyone respects those boundaries. I would like to be put away for visitors, so a home without frequent guests is best. - Understand I am a fearful dog, and will struggle to be comfortable around you at first. You will be willing to meet me many times before I can go home with you. - You love the outdoors, and adventuring! Me: - I will only have eyes for you! I don't want or need other people in my life. - I want to do something with you always! If you work long hours, we won't be a match, but a regular work day is fine. As long as you have the time and energy for me once you get home! A walk around the block is NOT enough. - I want to play, and swim, and hike, and train! I have LOTS of energy. - I enjoy select dogs, but I have a hard time with impulse control and overarousal. I would be fine as an only dog as I really just want my person! - I love to use my mouth, as most GSD's do, but struggle with handler conflict/pressure. I'm working on it! - I am very athletic, and would love a home that would teach me canine sport activities. We don't have to compete, I just want to have fun with you! (I am not a bite sport candidate). - I want to play with everything, and enjoy eliciting squeals, so cats would be hard unless you are REALLY committed to training. I should NEVER be lose/unsupervised around them, or other small animals. - I am goofy, vocal, and get really excited when I see my mom! - Once I trust you, I am excellent for all handling, grooming, nails, the vet etc. - I am great in my crate, and the car! - I am very handsome! - I am very affectionate with my person! - I am pretty good with environmentals, and foster mom can take me everywhere! I have been waiting a very long time to find my forever person, but a new year is here. I'm hoping that it's you! Please send an application so that we can chat 🐾 ________________________________ Adoption through Inugoya includes: - the dog - All vaccinations & required boosters; DA2PPv, Bordetella, Lyme, Leptospirosis, and Rabies - 4DX Blood Test (Heartworm, Lyme Disease, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis) - Age appropriate wellness blood screen - Fecal test - Deworming & Flea/Tick/Heartworm prevention - Spay/Neuter - Microchip - Hip xray for all dogs that undergo anesthesia - All medical needs assessed and concluded. Story
Name: Rum Breed: GSD x Farm Dog Mix DOB/Sex: Dec 22, 2023/M Known Health Issues: Bilateral Hip Dysplasia. Will be receiving double hip replacement. Covered with adoption. Good With: Cats! Dogs! Kids! NO DOG PARKS Rum is one of 8 puppies born on a farm. He was surrendered with his mom, Bounty (small GSD), at 6 weeks of age. Occasionally there are puppies that steal part of my soul, and Rum is one such puppy. I love everything about him, and will only be placing him if everything feels right. He is sweet, kind, chill, and devoted. He loves to hike, play in the water, and is food motivated. He is a bit of a mommas boy, and is often found laying at my feet. He can be pushy/cocky with other dogs, and possesive of his ball. Proper training and pack integration is key for success! Rum, like his siblings, is idiopathically shy. He will always be a dog that can be uncertain in new situations, easily spooked, and needs calm and patient guidance. This does not mean he should be coddled! And in fact proper structured socialization is even more important for dogs that are prone to insecurities. But he is the sweetest boy, and deserves every extra moment spent with him to make sure that he is as happy and comfortable in life as possible. His successful adopter must be willing to bring him in for his neuter, to our vet in Caledon. This is included with his adoption, and will be completed after his hip surgeries. If you think you can convince me, that you are the one for him, please complete an application here: https://form.jotform.com/233466598767073 ________________________________ Adoption through Inugoya includes: - the dog - All vaccinations & required boosters; DA2PPv, Bordetella, Lyme, Leptospirosis, and Rabies - 4DX Blood Test (Heartworm, Lyme Disease, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis) - Age appropriate wellness blood screen - Fecal test - Deworming & Flea/Tick/Heartworm prevention - Spay/Neuter - Microchip - Hip xray for all dogs that undergo anesthesia - All medical needs assessed and concluded. Story
Name: Rook Breed: GSD DOB/Sex: June 14, 2023/M Good With: Cats (with training)! Dogs! Working breed experienced kids will be considered on a case by case basis. *NO DOG PARKS* Known Health Issues: - Cryptorchid. Will be corrected at neuter. Neuter will take place after orthopedic surgeries are completed. - Hip Dysplasia. Right hip needs replacing. Currently not symptomatic, and working under the guidance of Dr. John at Caledon Mountain, and Dr. Sherry at SOAR Vet Services. - Elbow Dysplasia. Currently not symptomatic, and working under the guidance of Dr. John at Caledon Mountain, and Dr. Sherry at SOAR Vet Services. *ALL SURGERIES; ELBOWS, HIP REPLACEMENT, AND NEUTER ARE COVERED WITH HIS ADOPTION* Rook is a gorgeous, active, athletic, driven young dog, eager to find his forever family! If you LOVE daily training, dabbling in canine sports and activities, and have a passion for adventure, read on! Rook arrived in rescue as a very reactive yound lad. With training, consistency, and breed appropriate outlets, he has blossomed in a fantastic boy that loves to go everywhere and anywhere! It is important his future home also enjoy training, to keep up his management, and continue his worldly endeavors. If he simply is put "back on the shelf", he will absolutely revert to his previous ways. He is a German Shepherd through and through, and wants to be out there doing all the things! He's not happy to be relegated to a backyard and a couple walks a day. Rook loves to work, and has strong toy and food drive. Watch your fingers with a wubba 😂 He is working on impulse control, and is learning to apply rules to his games. He has an excellent foundation, and is eager to learn more. He is a water fanatic, will go off the dock, loves to chase, tug, and retrieve, and can go in just about any direction. He is craving an active working/sport lifestyle! He has been introduced to cats and done well, but not lived free with them. We anticipate him to be quite successful with proper introductions, structure, and trainings. This is not something you do in one afternoon. If your plan is just to throw them together, then he is not the dog for you. Kids are open for discussion, with proper rules and boundaries in place. He is not a dog to be climbed over or tugged on. Dogs that are used to living with a working/sport dog, and a similarly structured lifestyle will happily be considered. Rook is a dog that bonds hard to his person, and isn't looking for canine companionship. That said, he is incredibly neutral, and not an instigator. I never recommend same sex pairs, especially close in age. But there's no 'hard no' on his placement dog wise, as long as the management is there in the home. He is not yet fully mature, and may potentially become less tolerant in the future. If you're looking for a dog for your existing dog, he is not the dog for you. However if you're looking for a dog to add to your home for yourself, explore some new activities, and exist very peacefully and mutually with your current dog, then he absolutely could be right up your alley. He will bond, and engage in play after some time, but he's not a dog that's going to instantly become your current dog's bestie. Rook unfortunately has both hip, and elbow dysplasia. He is incredibly well managed right now, and absolutely loves doing his physio exercises! He rarely needs pain medication, and the plan is to get him settled in his forever home, before starting his surgeries in the spring (2026). All of his surgeries are covered with his adoption. Assuming there are no surprises, his elbows will be done first, then his right hip replacement, and then finally his neuter once everything's healed up. Once everything is complete, we expect him to lead a completely normal active lifestyle. He will not be recommended for a Worlds level, high impact agility or disk star, but pretty much anything else will be on his plate ;-) He had been working with the adventure team, and doing fantastic! Please see his photo album on the rescue's Facebook page for many, many updates! Facebook.com/InugoyaRehomingandRehabilitation A few words from each of our adventure team members! NIC: "Rook is an incredible shepherd who is loyal, driven, and always happiest when he gets to be involved in whatever you are doing. He integrates seamlessly into the home and once his energy is out, he will absolutely shower you with kisses and cuddles for as long as you will let him. He is one of those dogs who seems genuinely grateful just to be included, whether that is working, training, or simply hanging out with his people. He joins us on dog friendly outings and breakfasts and is calm, neutral, and well mannered in public. Rook loves to swim in any season, even in the winter, and he travels exceptionally well in the car. He has great toy drive and backup toys are a must, as he happily destroyed some of our old dog toys to make room for new ones. He is also very respectful with other dogs and coexists easily, but his real focus is his people. Rook is strikingly handsome and definitely offers some great scary dog privilege, but behind that look is a deeply affectionate, devoted companion. With the right structure, time, and exercise, he gives his whole heart and would make an amazing addition to the right forever home." KATIE: "Rook is such a lovely boy, he is so fun to work with and an all around awesome guy. The first time he came to me I knew we were going to have lots of fun! Though we had some stranger danger to work through, once he understood I was a friend he opened up so much and has been so fun and loving. Initially when I took him it took about 3 days for him to trust me enough and stop barking at me when I came down the stairs or went into the room he was staying in. Everytime I would go down the stairs or go into the room I simply gave him a treat announced I was there and walked out, it didn’t take him too long to figure out that I meant good things and wasn’t something that he needed to be on alert about. Through his time with me he has gone on a lot of hikes, worked on training, tried new things and met new people all of which he has taken in stride. We worked on recall, did some ecollar training and worked on impulse control all of which he is great with and understands well when the rules are put in place! He learned the art of place and settling, everytime I bring him back he automatically goes on place and knows his routine! Towards the end of his second time with me he really started to get snuggly and he definitely gives the best snuggles! He’s very drivey and loves to train with his person. I took him dock diving and being a water lover of course he was all for it. I learned he LOVES wubbas they are his absolute favourite and he’ll do anything for them. He has very good toy drive and loves to play all the games you give him! Overall he is just a really awesome boy and his forever home will be so lucky to have him!" AYSIA: "Rook is an amazing dog that will make someone so happy! If you are looking for a true shepherd, then Rook is your boy. I have taken him on a few vacations, and each time I take him he opens up more and more. Once Rook knows you, he is super cuddly and very eager to please. He truly wants to do a good job and loves working with his handler. Rook enjoys training and bonds very strongly to his person. We have worked on lots of training during our time together, and he is a very smart boy who catches on quickly — such a pleasure to work with. We have practiced recall, impulse control, basic obedience, and more. Rook is very toy driven, which makes him a really fun dog to train with. He loves going on adventures. I have taken him on many hikes, pack walks, and into various public environments, and he is very adaptable and neutral. He also absolutely loves swimming and would enjoy sports like dock diving. Rook coexists great with my dogs and is very respectful of them. I have also briefly introduced him to my cat, and he did very well during the introduction. With proper structure in place, I think he could successfully coexist with cats. Most importantly, Rook is looking for his person. If you want a dog who is completely obsessed with you, Rook is the one."
