Story
Meet Mitchell – the boy with a heart of gold, ears that live their own life, and a weirdness you can only fully appreciate when you meet him! Mitchell has been in his foster home since the day he was born. He has always been a little different, and a very vocal boy – like all shepherds strive to be. Mitchell is 3 years old and 70 lbs of mostly German Shepherd and Great Pyrenees. He loves other dogs and his personality has really taken off with strangers too. He has a couple of best friend foster siblings that he enjoys playing with. Mitchell is house and kennel trained. He will need a home with a routine and patience as he works on leash training and that can help him keep learning. Mitchell has a pretty standard shepherd personality. If you have experience with shepherds, you fully understand. He wants to be worried about the world, while also being a social butterfly – an interesting combination for sure! Mitchell does get nervous with new things, but as his confidence continues to grow, we know that nervousness will get less and less. He hasn't been around kids but with his easy going demeanor we don't think he would have any issues in a home with kids that know how to respect their dog friends. He was born with bad hips and had surgeries to get him all fixed up. He’s still trying to learn that his hips are fixed, so he walks a little odd, but that just goes with his personality! Mitchell is a large dog, so he will benefit from some joint supplements as he ages. He may never be a super high energy guy, but more of a couch potato, hang out with his humans kind of guy. Mitchell wants to be a house dog, a true family companion, and would do best in a lower-key home. Staying active throughout his life will help him, but he won’t ever be a marathoner! You can send inquiries to our director of adoptions at muttmisfitsadoptions@gmail.com or apply to meet / adopt at www.muttmisfits.org/adoption-application! Mitchell is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $150.

Story
Piper is a beautiful 2 year old German Shepherd who recently joined us through Save Oklahoma Pets Society. She came to us as an owner surrender after her previous family could no longer care for her. It’s clear she loved her people very much. Those first few days were hard for her as she tried to understand why she was somewhere new. She kept going to the front door hoping to go home, and it broke our hearts watching her confusion. 💔 With time, patience, and lots of love, Piper has started to settle in and show her gentle, affectionate personality. She’s a little shy and submissive at first but incredibly sweet once she warms up. She loves giving kisses, has been quick to trust, and adjusted right away to her crate which has already become her safe space. 🥰 We’ve also learned she’s a very smart girl who knows sit, down, and stay. She enjoys training time and loves to please. She will make a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates the loyal and intelligent nature that german shepherds are known for. ❤️ Welcome to rescue life, sweet Piper. The best is yet to come! ❤️🐾 💌 If you’re interested in adopting Piper, apply here: https://form.jotform.com/250403482604146

Willow's got a face that melts hearts and a tail that won't stop wagging ! This snugglebug Lab/ Shepherd mix is a master of cute and a pro at stealing blankets . When she's not busy being adorable, she's learning the ropes (like not tipping over her food bowl, haha ). Car rides? Check! Cuddles? Double check! Puppy pad training is underway, and this little one is crushing it . If naps with a lap-full of puppy are your thing, Willow's your gal . Story
Breed: German Shepherd Lab mix best guess  / Adoption fee is $150  / Sex: Female  / Age: Approximately 4-5 years old  / Weight: Approx. chunky 80 pounds  Hi, hi, oh hi! My name is Bella and I am so happy to meet you. I am a four year old girl that weighs over eighty pounds. They think I am a German shepherd mix. I came to the rescue after my family was moving and they dropped me off at a city shelter where I could die. Lucky for me the rescue came and took me out of there. So I am looking for a safe, new home. I am a fun, water loving girl. I enjoy my people, cuddles and car rides. I have been around cats and will play with other dogs but am best suited as an only dog or have a male furry friend. I know how to use a doggie dog, am house trained and know my basic manners. I like to stay close to my people. Everyone has faults and mine is high value resource guarding. I absolutely think Kleenex and treats are very valuable and don't want to give them up or share them. I have been working on it with a trainer and she can help you and me both. For those reasons I think small children are not a good match for my new home. I do enjoy activity like walking or playing ball but with my size I admit my endurance is low. I am curious and sometimes get distracted exploring new things. You know, I guess you could say I like to check out my surroundings. I have been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated (including canine influenza) and am current on my heartworm/flea & tick preventatives. My adoption fee is 150.00. The first step in adopting me is to complete an application for me. You and me, we could be true friends and I would love you no matter what. Can you love me that much? Quick View: House Manners: Housebroken and knows doggie door. Basic Training: Knows basic obedience just will need time to connect with new owners. Will do best with a confident owner Other Dogs: I am best with the boy dogs because I like to be the queen of the house. Cats: I was in the dog trainers home with cats and done very well with indoor cats, both the type that interacted with me and the fuzzy one wanted to attack me. Kids: We do not foresee any issues with older well mannered kids being around Bella. Toddlers not suggested because she will steal food from them most likly.  Fencing: Not a known escape artist. Respect 5 ft fence.  Important PLEASE read if interested in adoption: We have a pretty open adoption policy, apartments, unfenced yards, and young kids are okay, but only if the pet you are interested in is a good fit for that situation!!! Some dogs may require a fence of a certain type and height, due to safety, the breed or known history. We are looking for pet parents that provide vet care such as routine vaccines for their pets and heartworm prevention for dogs. Please understand we do cross check vet references and landowners/landlord policies and cannot process applications with incomplete or incorrect information. We asked that you take your newly adopted dog for a vet exam in the first 30 days to establish with your vet and obtain their heartworm prevention prescriptions and have a fecal exam administered as some pets may need additional de-womer after leaving our care.    Please submit a  Pre-Adoption Questionnaire by clicking the hyperlink if visible or visiting  Our Home Page to the application link  to show your interest in adoption. Only submit one app for any of our dogs, your app will be on file for at least 1 year. This questionnaire simply helps inform us if the dog you are interested in might match your families' dynamics based on what we have learned about that dog. All of our pets at True Friends Animal Rescue are featured on Our Home Page and can be accessed from our web listings, take a look as there may be more than one in our rescue that you like. if you don't find the information you are needing thru our websites, please submit an E-mail.    November 5, 2024, 5:14 pm

Story
This handsome boy was found outside a Petco in OKC. He is an absolute sweetheart that has never met a stranger. His history is unknown, but he laws obviously well loved for the time he was somebody’s. He’s extremely well mannered, but he is reactive when he sees other dogs. I can’t tell if this is truly aggression, or if he’s just overly excited and doesn’t know what to do with himself. He only reacts to my cats when they run, so if you have a cat that is used to dogs, it may not be an issue. I leave him alone while I’m at work and he’s content the entire time. He doesn’t try to get into anything, chew up stuff, or cause mischief. He is not neutered and I don’t have the ability to miss worl in order to take him and see him through his recovery. I am willing to finance the surgery. He knows commands, but he’s still quite young, so he can be a little stubborn or get distracted. He is fully potty trained. He will come with a bunch of goodies that were gifted to me by petco.

Story
Fresno is an 8 year old German Shepherd who is good with Women, Men, and chill dogs, both large and small. He requires a slow introduction to other high energy dogs. He has not been tested with kids. A BIG boy and still gaining weight back to be in a good spot. A typical shepherd so ball is life for sure! He still is not a fan of being touched while eating but I feed him in his kennel and he's fine with it. He has been potty trained now and is no longer marking in the house! And he also no longer requires trading to play fetch but he definitely likes his time with the ball to chew on it. Tug is fun too! But make sure it's sturdy otherwise he chews through most dog ropes. He LOVES to sit by the couch and lay his head in your lap for pats. He just needs a warm bed and someone to scratch his ears and throw his ball for him. Available through Hero's Legacy Rescue and Transport! Application for adoption (Not a contract!): https://airtable.com/appMJJYs5GjR6UAsa/shrT2Z8jScKM12VAd
