Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Jetta! Jetta is a bright, highly trainable young dog who is eager to learn and loves having a canine companion. She and her sister, Lady, came from an unexpected litter. A year later, they sadly found themselves homeless. Lady has already found her forever home, and now it’s Jetta’s turn. We do believe she needs a companion playmate. Jetta has lived comfortably with three other dogs and small children, showing that she thrives in a family environment. With her breed mix, she’ll do best in an active home where she can enjoy plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. A fenced-in yard or an electric fence for supervised playtime would be ideal—she did very well with an electric fence in her former home. Jetta is housebroken when allowed indoors. She can be a little hesitant about car rides at first, but once she’s in, she rides along just fine. Jetta has not been raised around small animals or cats and tends to chase them outside, so a cat-free home is best. She was a family favorite at Pupapalooze and was gentle with children from start to finish. Jetta is waiting for a family who will give her the love, structure, and activity she deserves. Story
Carrie is an extremely sweet German Shepherd who just needs the right person to help her feel safe. She came to us when her owner could no longer care for her, and while she has a gentle heart, she is very nervous in new situations and will need a calm, patient home willing to go at her pace. Carrie is a flight risk and must be leash-walked at all times, as she can become frightened and try to bolt when overwhelmed. She is especially fearful of men, so introductions will need to be slow and respectful, with lots of patience and reassurance. Because of her anxiety, Carrie requires an adult-only home where things stay quiet and predictable. Once Carrie begins to trust you, her true personality shines—she is incredibly loving, enjoys playtime, and shows just how sweet she really is. She will do best with an adopter who understands nervous dogs and is committed to helping her build confidence through consistency and gentle guidance. Carrie is not spayed yet, so she is currently only available for adoption to Pittsylvania County or Danville City residents.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Brody is doing wonderfully in his foster home, which includes one cat and one dog. In just 24 hours, he’s shown himself to be confident, adaptable, and calm. He rides well in the car, walks nicely on leash, and handles toys gently. Brody has shown no reactivity to passing vehicles and only minimal interest in cats or other dogs. While he’ll continue to be assessed, he’s already proving to be a well-mannered, family-friendly shepherd.Brody was brought to us by a family who had him for only a couple weeks,  and realized they had made a big mistake, getting a big dog that needed exercise at their age. Brody was in another home before that, and we don’t know what his history was prior, but someone has loved him, someone spent some time, teaching him about house training, and someone had done a little leash work with him. He knows how to sit using voice commands and a hand command. He is not a pushy dog, but rather submissive. He is on the smaller side, and we are guessing he was from a backyard breeder. Regardless , he has a wonderful personality, is friendly with every human he has met, and we would feel very comfortable, placing him in a home with other dogs who are also friendly. We were told he has interest in cats, and we take that to me that he would probably chase a cat. As far as children, we don’t know what his exposure has been to children, and for dogs where we have no history, we recommend children over the age of six or seven, who are dog savvy, and no not to run, grab, or sit on dogs. Does it sound like he might be a good match for you? What else can we tell you? He is extremely gentle, and if you touch the toy he drops it immediately no tug of war.  he also drops the ball at your feet when playing fetch. he’s been a delight to have around PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA.
