Meet JETHRO! I, his foster mom, followed a post that this guy was wandering the streets & so many people were trying to catch him. He kinda got my attention with his big, handsome hound head! He was caught & was up for adoption at the animal shelter. I’m really unsure of the situation, but he was attacked by other dogs at the shelter, so I agreed to foster him. JETHRO is the most chill dog we’ve ever had! He is a special needs dog that needs seizure meds every day. He also has a swagger to his step. There is a video to show how he picks his foot up as if he’s stepping over something. It doesn’t slow him down, though. When he gets happy on a crisp, sunny day, he will do a few laps in the yard. Since he came to us after he was attacked, we have had to be patient in building trust. We are going through heartworm treatment & he has been seizure free since he’s been on his meds. He is so full of love, has a great big heart & just wants to be near you!! He is the gentlest soul & he loves to be outside with our other dogs. He is crate trained and house trained (he will whine when he wants to pee.) He is not a barker. He doesn’t jump up or get on furniture. He is definitely food motivated, so training will be easy. He loves soft blankets and a nice big antler to chew on. JETHRO is sure to bring a lifetime of joy and happiness to his lucky forever home.

JETHRO, like all Woof River dogs, start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport.
Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff.
Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding.
