Story
Say hello to Kaya! Kaya came to us as a stray in August 2023 and is ready to find her forever home! This sweet pup loves attention and loves everyone she meets! Kaya is as affectionate as they come and enjoys nothing more than snuggling up close to someone and getting all the attention she can. Playing fetch is a close second! Kaya needs nothing more than a tennis ball or squeaky toy and is happy to bound after anything tossed for her! Kaya does well on the leash and also enjoys playing in the yard. She LOVES her toys and is more play motivated than treat motivated. This pretty girl currently knows sit and down! Kaya will need to be the only dog in the home and we have not yet seen her with cats. She does well with the children she has met here at the shelter but sometimes does not realize her size when she is looking for love and will occasionally smush herself against you if she is looking for kisses or butt scratches. If Kaya sounds like she would be a good fit for your home, stop by and meet her today! Kaya is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.

Story
Male, 4 years old, 60lbs Approximate Age: ~4 years old   Approximate Weight/Size:    Large   Good with: Dogs   Not tested with: Cats, Kids   Hi, I'm Kevin! I have an awesome personality and I'm very well behaved. I love going for walks and getting to explore, but I'm also easy to please with just some treats and snuggles on the couch. I'm very affectionate and I'm a social butterfly, both with people and other dogs. I'm treat motivated, which is perfect for learning more commands and tricks. I also know "sit" and I'm great on a leash. The nice folks at RDR will update my profile when they learn more about me.   I can't wait to find a forever home where I can share all the love I've got to give!   Adoption Application: http://bit.ly/adoptrd r My adoption fee includes: Spay/Neuter Surgery (unless I'm too to young!) Overall wellness exam Current on all core vaccines (including DHPP & rabies) Microchip Current on flea & tick and heartworm preventatives   Interested in adopting a rescue dog? Story
Male, ~2 years old, ~64 lbs. Approximate Age: ~2 years old   Approximate Weight/Size:   64# - large    Good with: Dogs   Not tested with: Cats, Kids   Hi, I'm Homer! I'm one of the sweetest dogs in the world. I'll do anything to get your attention! I'll happy curl up next to you or lean into you asking for pets: I'm a huge cuddle bug despite my size. I'm very smart and eager to learn: I am easily redirected.   At the same time, I'm goofy and playful. I love both long and short walks, as well as going hiking with my humans. I get along great with other dogs and currently live with another pup.   I'm currently working on my leash pulling, but I'm learning with my foster parents how to be a good dog. I'm also working on my housetraining, although I only have the occasional accident.      I can't wait to find a forever home where I can share all the love I've got to give!   Adoption Application: http://bit.ly/adoptrd r My adoption fee includes: Spay/Neuter Surgery (unless I'm too to young!) Story
Please contact June Song (JuneS@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet shepherd ISO fresh start and love! RACHAEL NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Rachael       Best Guess for Breed:  German Shepherd mix   Best Guess for Age:  5 years as of August 2023       SEX:  Female   Approximate Weight:   67 lbs   Gets Along With:   Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home.   Special adoption considerations: Rachael is a truly Lucky Dog. Although she has tested positive for heartworms, but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment.  We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.    Rachael is Looking For:  Her forever family! German shepherds are known for their strong attachments to their humans, and Rachael wants nothing more to know who her people are. She's out of the puppy yips and is ready to accompany her family on long sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. Trips to the mountains - hanging out in the park and people watching - Starbucks stops for pup cups - she's there with you for it all! She's also super smart and is eager to participate in training and other mental enrichment activities.  She is stocking up on adoring gazes and tail wags for her new humans, and promises loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Is Rachael the companion you have been seeking?   What My Foster Says About Me: Rachael is an absolute sweetheart! She was unsure of certain things like getting into the car, flooring, and stairs but has overcome quickly her uncertainty with some coaxing.  She is indeed the green dog and doesn't know much with how to be in the house, walking on leash, or any commands but is a very quick learner! She may not be in her younger years but learning never stops and the shepherd in her is definitely up for it! She does well with dogs, mostly just interested in saying hi, and moves right along. Currently, she is living with a young child and Rachael is great with her! We also have cat(s) in the home, and she was quite stimulated initially(not sure if she has ever met one) but is learning to be calm around them and doing well! Rachael is a gem of a pup and would make a great addition to any home!   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
Bear is a handsome male German Shepherd and Great Pyrenees mix who was born on February 11th, 2023 and is still puppy in every way.  He is one of six siblings that survived from a litter of 12.  Bear weighs approximately 90 lbs, is very GSD smart and likes to be next to his humans.  This huge puppy is full of energy and he will fit perfectly in a home where there is a lot of activity, He really likes walking, hiking, and just plain old activity.  We recommend a home with a fence that is a minimum of 5 feet tall.  We do not suggest he go to a home with small children, or farm animals simply because he has no experience with them.  He hangs with his siblings and does well playing with them and also just enjoying their company.  He does need to eat separately for dinner as he protects his food from the other dogs.  Bear is fully vetted, neutered and microchipped and he is kennel and crate trained for quiet time.  This boy need some time and attention from a caring and dog savvy owner.  He has such potential…such love and such a need to grow and evolve into a find companion in life.  Please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested in this big baby!  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.December 8, 2023, 9:38 am

Story
Easy Ryder is like his name, an 'easy'  two year old German Shepherd boy that would love to join Peter Fonda on a motorcycle ride.  This boy loves to go, go, go and he's a ton of fun and a super  playful boy.  He is good with children, other dogs, but no cats unfortunately.  He’s a great car “rider”, loves his walks, and he loves hiking into the mountains.  He’s 70 pounds of all muscle, great health and good hips.  No issues whatsoever with health or dog habits and is UTD on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, HW prevention. He’s one healthy lover of a dog. Please contact ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.  He's in Tennessee but can transport north.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.December 8, 2023, 9:38 am
