Story
Meet Raylee “Fancy” 💕 This sweet girl has a story that will stick with you. Fancy was found tied to train tracks and thankfully rescued by a good samaritan who brought her straight to us at the Fayette County Animal Shelter. We truly can’t imagine what she’s been through — but we do know she deserves so much better from here on out. Fancy came to us microchipped. We reach out to the owners listed, but unfortunately the phone numbers are no longer in service, and we've received no response via email. Her microchip history shows she was adopted back in 2017 from a neighboring shelter, and she is already spayed. Raylee is what we’d call an old soul. She has a calm, gentle presence about her and just seems grateful for a soft bed and kind words. She doesn’t seem to mind other calm dogs and keeps her kennel very clean, so we believe she may be house trained. She’s not asking for much — just a warm, safe place to land and a family to love her through her golden years. If you feel like Fancy might be the missing piece in your home, please send in an adoption application at fayettecountyanimalshelterwv.com or come meet her at: 📍 513 Shelter Rd Fayetteville, WV 25840 Let’s make sure the rest of her story is filled with comfort, love, and safety. 💗

Story
Don't these eyes just speak to your soul? Max is begging for somebody, anybody, to adopt him. Seniors don't deserve to live their lives in the shelter. He's an older gentleman that should be enjoying the luxury of a warm, cozy couch or bed of his own. He deserves leisurely strolls where he can smell the flowers and take in his surroundings. It isn't fair that he is locked in a jail cell with dozens of barking dogs all around him. Can you imagine how stressful this must be for a senior? We know that Max would make the perfect pal for someone. We're hoping that someone doesn't have any other pets, as he really wishes to be your one and only. If you'd like to know more about Max, come by the shelter and meet him for yourself! We are located at 513 Shelter Road, Fayetteville, WV 25840. Apply online at fayettecountyanimalshelterwv.com.

Story
We adopted Max about 3 years ago, he is now 6 years old. He has one pale blue eye and one gold. He's very pretty, smart, funny, sweet and loving. He's a little intimidated of men at first, and takes a minute to warm up, but once he does, your his friend and once he trusts you he is loyal. He loves to go for walks and car rides. He loves to be around people, so he has anxiety about being separated, and can get into mischief. He is fixed, house trained and he will be okay for short periods in a crate. He loves to run and play, it's important for him. He does have food sensitivities to gluten, beef and dairy. We would love to see him find a home with a loving family. He would love a yard to stretch his legs and kids to play with, or a single person or young couple who has time, and love for him.

Story
Hey y’all, I’m Spud! 🥔🤠 Yep, like the potato — sturdy, lovable, and guaranteed to stick to your heart. I’m a 7-month-old shepherd mix pup, and I’m sweeter than a plate of mashed taters at a Sunday supper. I’ve got plenty of puppy energy, so if you’re lookin’ for a four-legged sidekick who’s always down to run, play, and then demand attention like it’s my full-time job… well shoot, I’m your guy. I love treats (I mean, duh), ear scratches, and bein’ told what a handsome little spud I am. They say I’m still growin’, but don’t worry — I’m already top-quality Idaho (West Virginia, but Idaho potato--get it?!) material: loyal, hearty, and easy to love. I’m ready to trade my kennel life for couch privileges and a family who won’t mind a little dirt on my paws and a whole lotta love in their home. 🥔 My adoption fee is $175, and I come fully loaded: Neutered ✔️ Dewormed ✔️ Microchipped ✔️ Heartworm tested ✔️ Flea prevention ✔️ So if your life’s missin’ that perfect little spud to make it complete, come on down and scoop me up. I promise I’ll be the best tater you’ve ever had. 💛🐾 www.fayettecountyanimalshelterwv.com 513 Shelter Road, Fayetteville, WV 25840

Story
Duke was originally adopted November 2025 and returned on 2/1/2026. Duke would be best in a home with no other animals as he is not cat or dog friendly. He lived with a toddler, but he is a play nipper and kid chaser. He is also a food stealer from children. He NEEDS lots of training. We are told from his previous owner that he has separation anxiety and he is housetrained. Intake Date: 2/1/2026 *Male *2 years old *Neutered and Microchipped *50 lbs *UTD on vaccines and dewormer *4DX tested (negative) *Adoption Fee: $0 (FULLY SPONSORED)
