Story
*In a foster home* Darby is a sweet German Shorthair Pointer mix who recently came to us after being pulled from another shelter. We’re still getting to know her personality, but so far she has been a gentle, friendly girl who enjoys the company of other dogs and doesn’t seem to mind cats. Darby has done well with older children, though we aren’t sure yet how she does with very young kids. She can be a little timid around men at first, but with patience and kindness she continues to warm up and gain confidence. As she settles in, we’re excited to learn more about her likes, quirks, and favorite activities. If you’re looking for a kind-hearted companion to grow with your family, Darby may be the perfect fit! Story
UPDATE!! Meet Remi! A little bit about her is she’s a purebred German Shorthair Pointer, and she looks to be about 8 years old so she’s on the older side. She is fully vetted with her rabies proof of vaccine tag, hw neg (tested below detectable levels) and spayed. She is great in the house and crate, in fact she loves her crate and sleeps in it at night voluntarily! She does good with any size dog as long as there’s a proper introduction and she’s not a barker at all. She truly is the absolute sweetest dog.  Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.  All dogs have a $195 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Thank you! Story
UPDATE!✨ Libby Lou is a German wire-haired pointer mix.  She is approximately one and half years old.  Her previous owner’s housing situation has changed and she is unable to keep her. Libby loves dogs of all sizes and children of all ages.  She has been around a variety of dogs and is very submissive to others.  Due to her being a mix of two hunting dogs, cats and smaller mammals (not including dogs) are not a good fit for her.  She needs a secured fence and if she had her way she would spend her days outside laying in the sun.  She is used to a dog door, but she has been okay the past few months spending her days inside.  Libby loves to go on long walks and playing with her toys in the yard.  She misses the concept of fetch, but she will gladly trot to the toy and play with it where it lands.  Libby is a cuddle bug, and most would say she has the personality to be a service animal with her calm demeanor. She is utd, hw neg (tested below detectable levels) and spayed. Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy!  Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $145 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Story
Let’s talk about Bobo! He came to us with a fear of people, nipping at those who reached for his collar or tried to touch him. After spending a few months with our pack, he has now learned that humans are not to be feared. Today, he loves all of us here! There’s no more nipping or running away. We are excited to begin taking him out in public so he can learn to meet new people and remain calm during those interactions. He’s a sweet boy who revels in scritches and expresses himself with abundant vocalizations! His joy shines as he races the dogs on the other side of the fence, almost always emerging victorious. Only a couple of dogs can keep up with his speed. Bobo thrives with other dogs, and we have yet to discover how he interacts with kids or cats. Stay tuned for more updates on Bobo!
